Nothing to worry about on the Magic

We just got back from the Nov. 1-6 sailing on the magic and I'm happy to report that conditions are definitely improving after the legitimate problems we heard about after the first two sailings. We were on Deck 7 inside room. We had no issues or complaints. We were upgraded from a cat 11b to a 10a on Thursday night before sailing, I'm guessing they tried to move people around to finish work on any rooms that we're having problems. Honestly, they were still working on some things but if you have cruised before, you know they are ALWAYS working on something, even on the 2 new ships. It was nothing that we really noticed or inconvenienced anyone we talked to. The ship is beautiful, the service was the best we e had in 9 DCL cruises.

This cruise reminded me of why we fell in love with DCL in the first place. I can't wait to sail to the Magic again sometime next year, she is once again my favorite DCL ship! I don't even want to go on the Dream after sailing the Magic this cruise (maybe the Fantasy, since it's 7 nights), though I'll skip Miami and wait til the Magic comes home to Port Canaveral before sailing again.

Also, the Aquadunk is awesome! Rode it about 4 times and never waited more than a few minutes. Love the layout of the Aqualab and Cabanas blows away the old Topsiders. The made-over areas all look nice and the update to animators Palate. The kids LOVED the new Oceaners Club/Lab. Any other questions let me know!

I'm happy to report that rumors of her demise have been greatly exaggerated!

I don't think so. I've been on 11 DCL cruises. I'm not a newbie. I exaggerated nothing.

By the way, I still had a great time AND expected them to be working around the ship.

Seriously? Consider yourself lucky then. They had an additional 7 days to work on things before you boarded.

Yes seriously. This was our favorite cruise, other than our first one (also in the Magic) out of the nine we've taken with DCL. Sorry if you had a bad experience, but they seem to have worked out whatever bugs were there on that first 2-night cruise. I talked to lots of people and didn't hear of any of the problems mentioned from that first cruise.

I am so glad you had a great time :goodvibes I love happy posts. I think the fact that you said the problems were exaggerated was a bit off putting. These might have been fixed, and I am so glad to hear they have been :) Exclaiming that others were exaggerating isn't accurate.

Glad to hear you had no problems and that you were upgraded. Very awesome that you loved the experience :flower3:

I didn't say you're reports were exaggerated, but you'd think from reading some threads on here that the Magic was in horrible shape. I even saw people talking about canceling their Magic cruise a YEAR from now because of the bad initial reviews. I believe you also run the DCL blog that I read all the time and really enjoy. But I think people can stop fretting about their upcoming cruises on the Magic, and don't need to worry about rebooking to another ship because they're afraid after reading some of the reports from the initial cruise.

Sorry the first cruise on the reimagined Magic was not the best experience for everyone, but it seems like they are getting things fixed rather quickly.

All true (my DH runs the blog). I agree with PP tho; saying exaggerated is off putting.

Canceling a cruise a year from now is certainly unwarranted.

Then you should report that conditions have greatly improved and not dismissing what was reported from the first cruises. Did you know that they have been moving people on the next few cruises due to continuing maintenance issues? That indicates that there is something still very wrong with some rooms.

Yes, I did know that. For the record, I was simply playing off of the phrase 'rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated' if anyone's heard that quote before. I guess I thought people would get that.

Sorry to offend anyone that had a bad experience and didn't mean to imply you were exaggerating, in fact I was very worried after reading about them. Just wanted to offer a glimmer of hope to others who may have felt the same way after reading about your experiences. That really was the only reason for my initial post. If I can answer anything for people who are cruising on the magic soon, let me know.

Sorry the first cruise on the reimagined Magic was not the best experience for everyone, but it seems like they are getting things fixed rather quickly.

It was the first two cruises that had many issues not just the 2 night. We were on the 5 night that left 10/27 and many people had severe stateroom issues. Our friend's cabin had no curtains on the porthole, no dresser, no mirror over the desk, no bar in the closet to hang clothes, no A/C (and then when A/C was fixed had a continual leak from the A/C that soaked he carpet). This was all in handicapped cabin. Luckily it all got fixed by the end of the cruise but she spent way too much time contacting guest services and maintenance about these issues.

Our carpet outside the bathroom was soaked for the first 3 days. I would still sail on the Magic again and we had a great time and service by all CM's was superior but many people on the 10/27 5 night had issues as well. Hopefully as time goes by all the issues will be resolved and each cruise going forward should have less and less issues.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise.:)

Yes, sorry about that. I didn't get to read about the 10/27 cruise since we boarded right after that one got back. Please everyone accept my sincere apologies. I really meant for this to be a positive thread, since we had such a great time, just wanted to share it. So hereby I officially amend my initial post, just to clear everything up:

Despite the many legitimate reports of various problems, difficulties, and issues on the first sailings of the reimagined Disney Magic, I'm happy to report that we did not experience any of these issues on the 11/1 sailing. It appears that DCL is addressing those issues and others fairly quickly and working to ensure a great experience for guests while they put the finishing touches on the newly reimagined ship.

FYI-I updated my original post to remove the phrase in question. The 'E' word hijacked this thread and took away from the point I was trying to make.

I'm glad to hear this. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Glad to hear you had a good time and good that you clarified and amended your first post! lots of people would have gone away and sulked! but good for you for apologising and moving on,

Really pleased the problems that some experienced are being sorted .. It was pretty naive of DCL to think they could get everything done in such a small amount of time maybe?

We're sailing on her in May and can't wait to see the new changes .. We need to 'choose' a room to have our wedding ceremony in on the WBTA and the new spaces are looking very nice indeed!!

Thank you for reassuring us; it must have been a nightmare for those that had issues on the 1st cruises, but good to know things are improving :goodvibes

Thank you for your post. We have booked a "SURPRISE" cruise in April on the Magic for our four daughters and we were worried that we didn't make the right choice of ships to sail on. Glad to hear that Disney is correcting the problems quickly.

I'm glad you had a good experience; I was a bit worried since our first trip on the Magic is this Sunday and we booked it as a last minute honeymoon we never got type of trip.

Were the lines for the Aquadunk short all of the time? Did you happen to make it to the spa or quiet cove?
