Nothing to worry about on the Magic

Leave it to dis to make a happy great cruise post into something it was not intended to be!

Again glad you enjoyed and that is what vacation is all about!!!

Great to hear you enjoyed your cruise and there didn't seem to be as many issues as the first few. I sail on the 20th, so great to hear. Though I never take anyone's reviews for real. I know people who were on the 2 night who didn't have any problems and had a great time and others who had problems. So over the years posting here I've learn to read, but not take the posts serious because different strokes for different folks, but glad to hear they seem to be fixing problems

Yes, sorry about that. I didn't get to read about the 10/27 cruise since we boarded right after that one got back. Please everyone accept my sincere apologies. I really meant for this to be a positive thread, since we had such a great time, just wanted to share it. So hereby I officially amend my initial post, just to clear everything up:

Despite the many legitimate reports of various problems, difficulties, and issues on the first sailings of the reimagined Disney Magic, I'm happy to report that we did not experience any of these issues on the 11/1 sailing. It appears that DCL is addressing those issues and others fairly quickly and working to ensure a great experience for guests while they put the finishing touches on the newly reimagined ship.

No worries!!! So glad the Magic is getting her issues fixed...love the ole girl!!! We had our Maiden Voyage on her back on July 30, 1998 so I feel we have come full circle. Hey, there were a ton of issues on the Magic MV as well and we continued to sail DCL (30 times) so they must be doing something right LOL!!!

remember the fellow who absolutely knew all the inside information about the (then) new ships and when and where they would sail....he would get sooooo upset if someone questioned him......:furious:

Agree 100% thanks for the update op

You would think by all the other magic posts that it was catastrophic issues, or I believe one said they should've just retired it. It's the same reason why new car models tend to have more problems than after they been around a while, or why major resorts have soft openings its to work out the kinks. And it's not like op called specific people out. Just be happy it sounds like they corrected a lot of things in less than two weeks

Were the lines for the Aquadunk short all of the time? Did you happen to make it to the spa or quiet cove?

I rode the Aquadunk 4 or 5 times and never waited more than a few minutes. I rode after lunch on embarkation day twice with no wait. My son rode a few more times. I also rode on Cozumel day in the morning with no wait. I was on deck 9 quite a bit and you can't see the entire line, but it never seemed to be more than 10-15 people. The operator told me the lines have been 10-15 minutes tops so far even on sea days. That may change as the remaining issues get fixed and the ship gets closer to full capacity.

Quiet Cove was unchanged at least from what I could tell, but still very nice. I like it more than the quiet Cove on the Dream, but that's just my opinion.

Didn't make it to the spa or fitness center. I tried one morning, but they do not open when they wee supposed to. Either a misprint on the navigators or spa staff didn't set their clocks back for daylight savings!

Thanks for the report and update! I'm looking forward to getting back onto my favorite ship ever!

Oh, he's still here -- just under another name. He's posting the same sort of thing and his location is the same so pretty obvious.

I'm glad you amended your OP. :thumbsup2

I'm very happy you had a great cruise! We are booked to sail her April 2014 and I was a little panicked after reading reports and was considering "jumping ship" (ha ha) for a moment, and sailing the Dream again instead. :rolleyes1 I'm really glad that DCL is continuing to work on the ship and hopefully all areas will be at 100% very soon. :)

I think everything will be fine by April. I, just from my experience, did not notice many problems on this cruise. There are still some rooms they are working on, and there is a plumbing issue on deck 6, but I'm sure they'll get that fixed by then. I was told once not to sail on a new ship for the first year, but DCL seems to be different. It only took them a few months to iron out problems on the Dream, I'd expect the same for the Magic. As we all know, they'll always be doing routine maintenance in matter how 'new' the ship is.

For someone who just read this thread for the first time, that first page was quite confusing. LOL! All kinds of quotes that I was like "Wait, where'd that come from???" Kinda amusing to work it all out. LOL!

Glad the Magic continues to improve and everyone here seems to have worked out their differences.

To the OP, thanks for the update. I thought the original direction of the thread "Rumors of my demise..." was quite punny but then I could see where it could be taken in the other direction by others who had less stellar experiences earlier on. Perhaps a full disclaimer explaining the humor would've helped from the onset. :D

:thumbsup2

I totally got what you meant in your original post and totally got that you were NOT saying the reports from everyone's personal experience were exagerated - you were saying that the Magic is not on her final last legs limping out to sea every sailing. And I was beginning to get that impression also reading report after report even though I knew they would fix the things they could fix and have personally experienced plumbing issues on the Magic previously.

I am so excited for my upcoming Magic Cruise!!! I can not wait! This is going to be so awesome!

Thank you so much for the report!

I can't remember, did you report what deck and cabin area you were in?

I am aft deck 6 so I am a little nervous about that, but not enormously because I know that DCL will fix it if something is wrong or move us if they can't, from prior experience, and I know my cruise isn't full so we can move around if need be. Not the case in the 2 day cruise that had so many problems and wasn't ready to sail yet.

:thumbsup2 Great to hear! I have not been privy to reading any of the previous reports about the Magic and the earlier sailings myself. I'm not sure I want to read them now! However I am hoping to book our first cruise on the Magic sometime in 2014 or 2105. Currently booked in 2014 but we know we'll probably move it once 2015 rates and dates are out.

That will just leave us one more ship to try...the Fantasy! Maybe in 2017? ;)

We just got back from the Nov. 1-6 sailing on the magic and I'm happy to report that conditions are definitely improving after the legitimate problems we heard about after the first two sailings. We were on Deck 7 inside room. We had no issues or complaints. We were upgraded from a cat 11b to a 10a on Thursday night before sailing, I'm guessing they tried to move people around to finish work on any rooms that we're having problems. Honestly, they were still working on some things but if you have cruised before, you know they are ALWAYS working on something, even on the 2 new ships. It was nothing that we really noticed or inconvenienced anyone we talked to. The ship is beautiful, the service was the best we e had in 9 DCL cruises. This cruise reminded me of why we fell in love with DCL in the first place. I can't wait to sail to the Magic again sometime next year, she is once again my favorite DCL ship! I don't even want to go on the Dream after sailing the Magic this cruise (maybe the Fantasy, since it's 7 nights), though I'll skip Miami and wait til the Magic comes home to Port Canaveral before sailing again.

So glad you had a great time! Good to hear that things are improving.

Yep, and seems to be spending quite a bit of time bashing the owners of the Disney Cruise Line Blog on other boards.

Yeah. He has some personal vendetta against us, mostly Scott. Weird for a grown man to act like that. Totally unwarranted, too. I don't recall ever wronging him.

Oh well. Water under bridge. Our 'amateur' blog (according to him) is quite successful and has grown exponentially. A true test to the amount of time Scott spends on it......

She wasn't close to being "show ready" for the first three cruises. None of the posts by SilverFox were exaggerated. If she was a land hotel, rather than a floating one, her occupancy rate would have been 0 in the latter part of October

I appreciate your validation. Thank you!

FYI-I updated my original post to remove the phrase in question. The 'E' word hijacked this thread and took away from the point I was trying to make.

Good idea lol

Thank you! We truly had a great time and all I wanted to do was share that.

I'm am so happy to read good news ;) We just did online check in last night for our March cruise; although on the Fantasy, I'm ready for more as always!

We were in 7001 and 7003. We were upgraded from 5001 and 5005, I'm guessing because they were shuffling people around to work on the cabins that still had problems. There were some plumbing issues deck 6 aft that we noticed when passing out our FE gifts, but they were working on it and I think had moved people from those rooms. My guess is the issues will be fixed or they will move you.

From my experience, I disagree, but I'm basing that solely on the 11/1 sailing. Maybe you saw some things that I missed or was able to overlook. It's ok, everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, and everyone's opinion is correct, at least to them :)
