Only in the virtual world. In the real world, "The coffee's in the fridge, the pop's downstairs. Feel free to help yourself."

I am sooooooooooooooooo jealous TW1!!!

I am still just baby countdown dancing, but I do watch that ticker that is clicking down towards Christmas! :cool1:

Toon - you are gonna be dancing for a long time....of course, you have the outfit for some serious getting down!

I've got a 141 day dance going! Hope I've got the endurance for that!

Any dining suggestions you want to share?

Staying at BCV and usually sup' in Epcot, want to try Canada and won't go back to China and France. Also willing to visit another resort site. Can't say we've tried too many places and don't know to much about the restaurants at other resorts. Will probably try Cape May Cafe right in the BC as well, and may go back to BW for Spoodles.

Places to avoid?

Coral Reef and Spoodles are good. I've heard good things about Germany, but it did not thrill me.

I've got a 47, 160 and 258 day dances goin' on, good for my heart!! (In more ways than one). <TABLE borderColor=#ffffff cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width=95 bgColor=#ffffff borderColorLight=#000000 border=1><TBODY><TR><TD noWrap align=middle>BWV</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

For TW1: One problem I always have with the WDW restaurants is that they seem to vary so much from trip to trip. We'll LOVE one and then go back and be very disappointed--and I am talking a few months later, not years! Also, with the the free dining plan in effect, combined with the already busy Summer crowds, you might not have a lot of choices for PS's at this point. Good luck!

A few places that I have found consistently good:

Shakes at the Sci Fi Dine in. Food can be very good, or not so good. But the atmosphere is great always. We generally stop by for a snack and shakes at least once a trip.

If you are in the mood for a great breakfast the tonga toast at the Kona Cafe at the poly is sooooooo good. Dinner there is nice too, much quieter (and to me just as good), and more reasonable than Ohana, the more "famous" of the restaurants at the Poly. Always nice to visit the poly, and you can time it to see the EWP or Wishes from the beach if you want to.

If you don't mind paying big bucks and dressing up a bit (business casual) the California Grill at the contemporay is consistently good. If you time it right you can see the MK fireworks while dining, very cool bonus. They dim the lights and pipe in the music (or at least they did, haven't been there in a while).

Brown Derby in MGM has never disappointed me.

Agree with Carrie regarding coral reef being very good. If you go there ask for a table by the tanks, it's lots of fun, especially if there's a human diving in there at the time. (But I think the fish are cool to look at alone too).

Avoid:
Big River Grill and Brewery (on the bw). Probably fine for brewskies, but not for food. My worst WDW ever, and from what I have read I am not alone.

I can't wait until I know enough about the restaurants at WDW to really reply to questions like this. :)

We ate at Germany last year for our CP dinner and it was not bad. Hubby loves German food and LOVED it. For me, it was so-so and it was hard to feed the kids (if there was a "kiddie buffet", I overlooked it).

I did enjoy a very casual dinner at ESPN after checking in for our trip in April and I thought it was a great change of pace from traditional WDW restaurants. Food was bar-restaurant food, but was very good for that sort of thing.

We tried a couple of restaurants for breakfast that trip, but I will reserve judgement for a later trip since I was having severe morning sickness then lol *imagine a greenish looking Laura*

You will have to let us know where you decide to sup and how it is!

Thanks Mar. I forgot about Kona. I have heard good things about it and we've never been to the Poly or seen the EWP! Now here's a great excuse for both. I agree about sci-fi. We stop there too on most trips. Kinda strange to be in a 300+ person rest. and no one is talking, just staring at the big screen.

Our trouble is we still do such a Commando style trip that sitting down for long, and not at a theme park, is rare. But I do want to take a step back this trip if I can and try something else.

Also, this trip falls on our 15th wedding anniv and we may try splurging a bit more at least one night. The whole trip is a big one, 5 nights at BCV, then 2 at VB then 5 more in HHI. And now, with the price of gas  , we'll be watching our pennies a bit.

I did book a boat to view Illuminations as well, - shhh its a secret - DW doesn't know. (Will be sharing with another Dis-er ~ Kathleena.)

Anyway, keep those ideas coming!

Wow the Illuminations cruise is gonna be a great surprise, what a good idea! And you get to meet Kathleena too, lucky you. The whole trip sounds wonderful, you're sure to have a great time.

One suggestion regarding Commando/Poly/EWP: You can visit on a night that the MK closes early-ish. Hop on the monorail to the Poly. You can sometimes time it, (depending on luck with what times things are scheduled the night you go), to watch Wishes from the Poly Beach, eat dinner at Kona and then back to the beach after dinner for the EWP. The one thing that's fairly consistent time wise is the EWP, it floats by the Poly at 9PM. If Wishes is at 9, EWP starts right after wishes.

BTW the Poly is a great place for couples, the torch lit paths and Hawaiian atmosphere are very romantic IMHO. Also, standing on the Poly beach after wishes it's really cool to see the castle at distance changing colors. It's one of my favorite resorts (can you tell, LOL), definitely worth a visit, if not this trip then hopefully another one.

Ahhhhh, the Poly. I love the Poly. TW, Mar's right about the Tonga toast for breakfast, and the pressed pot of Kona Coffee is wonderful. I love dinner there as well, and every dish I've sampled was good. If you love chocolate, the Kilauhea Tort is a must. I'm drooling just thinking about it...

I also love the Rose n' Crown. I like the meat pie sampler. Sort of an Epcot tradition of mine. Don't get me started on the Guiness... Last trip we were lucky and got a table by the water for illuminations. Awesome!

Now I can't stop thinking about BCV! We've done the Cape Mae Character Breakfast twice and it's my favorite. We did dinner one night a couple of years ago. It was a "clambake" buffet and pretty good. I love Beaches n' Cream for lunch or a burger type dinner. Great shakes and desserts there of course.

Mar's right about California Grille as well. Done that twice and not only is the food excellent, but the atmosphere and view of the world is breathtaking. We stepped outside on the roof of CR to watch Wishes with music piped in. Yes, it's pricey, but something you should experience some day if not this trip.

Dug this up in the Bad Poet's archives: the first few verses of O2B@BCV:

Oh, to be at BCV!
The building green seafoam.
To have them valet park for me
And hear that, "Welcome Home!"

The warm salute I get from Art
His smile that lights the way.
My room is ready! Time to start
To have a Magical Day!

A one bedroom - no, make it two!
It's my dream, afterall.
The room is lovely! Looks brand new.
We're gonna have a ball!

I walk out on the balconey
to have a look around.
There's Epcot right in front of me!
My favorite stomping ground.

The International Gateway's near,
So time to head on down.
First stop,"One pint of Guiness Beer!"
We're at The Rose n' Crown

... a pic of me enjoying a Guiness. Note the cool clover design she created in the foam...

Hey, Coaster, don't egg me on, please!

Speaking of non-PC cartooons. We're getting ready for our big drive 'home' on Saturday and went DVD shopping. Picked up a $1 DVD of Mr. Magoo and I completely forgot about his Chinese butler - wow! - talk about a bad stereotype! DW almost feel off the couch. Well, that one may just get lost in the back of the closet. Kids will have to suffer through 12 hours of the Brady Bunch - Complete Season 2 instead.

Would I ever egg anyone on?!?! Go ahead and do it. All the cool kids are doing it too. Don't you want to be in the in crowd? ;)

Side note: When I used to live in San Jose, there was a chinese fast food restaurant called Mr. Chau's. Well, in their tv commercials, there was a bad "sterotypical" chinese man as a cartoon character complete with accent, etc. Well, one of the local anti-disrimination made a big fuss about the commercials until Mr. Chau himself came out and stataed that he wrote the commercials and he did the voice.

Next Side note: Saw Eve Plumb in Laguna Beach awhile back. She lives there a couple of blocks up from my local hang out.

I'm probably sending my sister and BIL to Citricos when we go in October. I'm letting them have date night and I'm taking the girls (4 & 6) for the evening. I also thought of Kona Cafe at the Poly and Blue Zoo at The Dolphin. I haven't tried Blue Zoo but have generally heard good things about it. I would send them to Jiko but, we're doing that as a family. There's no way I'd miss out on going to Jiko.

The countdown to the Food & Wine Festival continues. I need to start work on my MNSSHP costume too. I keep procrastinating.

That is a nice thing for you to do for your family Left Coaster! That is what makes Disney fun to me, sharing fun things with the kiddies and adults alike. I bet your nieces will have a BLAST with you :) <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm414YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_3.gif' alt='Propeller' border=0></a> <---me at WDW with the kids

:drinking1 Looks simply yummy Tooneric! oh  and the beer looks good too hehe (of course, good beer, pretty barmaids, WDW.....just about impossible to beat!)

Good morning everyone!

**snif** **snif** Ahhh. The boss brought in his special coffee brew again. What a nice guy.

Anyway, didn't Carrie ask about opinions on the coffee at WDW yesterday? Well I certainly hope its getting better. Sure couldn't get much worse. I'll never forget my first visit to the world and buying a really crummy cup on Main Street while I watched the parade.

I love coffee almost as much as Rash loves Yuengling and it is such a disappointment at WDW.

I did find a decent coffee at a stand in Epcot, sort of near Mission Space. Not too bad actually. And I heard the bakery on the Boardwalk has a good cup.

Any opinions on where's the best cup of Joe?

Since we go off season a lot (i.e. - when its cooler at night) I often buy a cup of joe while waiting for Illuminations at the little latte stand next to the U.S. while we wait for the show. They do a pretty good job by WDW standards (which I agree are not so great in the coffee department), or maybe it just that I am chilly or wet and that gives the coffee a boost on the old meter. Either way, my sons always want to go because they also have the huge cookies there for an after dinner treat. :)
