*keeping my fingers crossed for you*

:wizard:

ugh....the 3-Day Breast Cancer walk is coming up here (that I committed to do before finding out I was expecting) and one of my bosses is walking, but as I have told her recently, I can't imagine training for something like that in the heat we have had this summer :earseek: I certainly hope it cools off for her by the first of October when this event happens.

Same for you! But January at WDW sounds perfect for running a marathon! :goodvibes

Thanks for teh :wizard:.

The weather is one of my biggest marathon concerns. Even much over 60 could be trouble for me, as I am not good in the heat and will be training in 0 to 20 degree weather. We'll see how it goes. If it's hot, I'll likely just have to walk some.

Isn't the marathon run at an ungodly hour in the morning?

I will send you pixie dust then too for good cool weather! (0 to 20 degree weather!!! good lord, that is everyone stay home and shut down the city temps here in Atlanta lol we are cold/snow/ice wimps lol)

I think anywhere from 40 to 60 would be fine. It's starts at around 5:30, but you have to get there by 3:30-ish. Yikes! So, we could have a coll mornign, but hit 70-75 around noon, when I will have been done for a while, hopefully, and that would be perfect! But you know, I'm not picky or anything! ;)

I would love to be running through the parks and backlot areas in the cold morning air. To see everything that most never get a chance to see. To experience some of the Disney magic before the parks have opened for the day (if I wasn't so oxygen deprived and panting...wondering if my feet were going to fall off that is :earboy2: )

I know someone that ran the marathon last year (ok - well - I know his brother...and doesn't this sound like one of "those" stories about "them" or "they say" lol) and decided to run the 1/2 because he wanted the Donald medal rather than the Mickey one. He runs quite a bit apparently, so running the full was in his reach. I found it to be funny to run the 1/2 for that reason. :confused3

In my mind it was the full or nothing. DOn't know why, 13.1 is certainly a more than respectable disctance, but it's that nagging hs coach that still gets into my head. I can't imagine being capable of the full and doing the half, though. It seems rather acti-climactic. Maybe you should let him know about the Goofy medal. This year, since the races are split, you can get a Goofy medal for doing the whole and the half!

If I deceide to do another one after this, you should do teh full with me in '08! (That will be the first marathon I'll have points for again!)

BTW - I can only see about 10% of my desk surface and the only equipment I have on it is a monitor and a phone!

Where are all our playmates today? I will gladly stop talking about me if someone else wants to share.

*smile* I think we both are taking up lots of "nothing" space today with tales of ourselves. Thank goodness we are both so amazingly interesting :teeth:

I should take a picture of my desk lol Of course, I have a little Lucy doll (Peanuts), a Wonder Woman action figure, some young children art hanging around, so 90% of my clutter IS self induced :earboy2:

Down the side of my monitor, I have pictures of the boys and at the bottom, a beautiful picture of the castle that was taken at an early morning PS so there is actually no one there :goodvibes I am sure you get the image lol.

Good point! :teeth:

My desk itself had a gumball machine and a pen holder. ALl else is paper! On the front and back walls I have panoramic photos of the Wings winning the cup in 97 and 2002. My family is barely made out in teh 97 one, but very easy to se ein the 2002 one. On my cork strip I have a printout of the marathon map, a scan of my dneph's first day of k-garten dwg, 3 pictures frwn by a co-worker's daughter, a phone lis, PE license (oops, not the current one), a photo of my dearly departed dog, and a calendar that is on June. Talk about a mix!

lol - No sense hurrying your days away! :teeth:

I buy into the "clean desk is the sign of a sick mind" theory myself. hehehehe

Sadly, compared to my bosses, I am the neatest of us all. It occasionally gets so bad in their offices that I just take the trash can in there and purge! (I mean can there really be current information in the Atlanta Business Journal that is 6 months old and has never been unfolded?)

If only I could find time to purge at home :earseek: Hubby has gotten a job and now I have about 20 half done honeydo projects started around the house. He is gonna be a sorry sack when I am out on maternity leave and feeling more like the whip cracker again :rotfl:

Well, I am happy to report that I am assembling a team for our local "Race For The Cure" event which will be on 9/18. It will be my first time and I'm pleased to have followed through as it's something I've wanted to do for a long time. However, I'm a certified wimp and will do the walk, not the run (baby steps, you know). But who knows...maybe next year I can pick up the pace a little bit!!! Plus, I'm excited as my DS and DD want to do it with me.

Laura, why don't you just wait 'til the ice cream melts...that's kind of like hot chocolate too. :)

Carrie: If your replacement toy arrives, you'll have to kill two birds with one stone and convince your friend to run through a drive-thru restaurant. A couple sprints around the block with a water bottle in one hand and a cheeseburger in the other...and then home to the new baby!!! :teeth:

lol You have the best ideas! Congrats on working with the Race for a Cure people :grouphug: Its a great cause huh? (and I love that your children are involved too *smile*) My sister and Aunt have done it the last two years in my mother's name (it occurs here in the spring - just after mom died last year) but I haven't been able to do that one yet. I was trying to do the 3 day, 60 mile walk this year and at this point, walking around the grocery story leaves me breathless lol so I can't even imagine walking 20 miles a day! :earseek: My boss that is going to walk is really in GREAT shape. She is a regular exerciser, thin, eats so well...yes - I hate her :earboy2: no no - just kidding! (I do think she is truly a size 0 though - ugh!)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ice cream!!! :cloud9:

Hiya! I had to teach a class earlier ("Visual Inspection of Blood Products" a thrill a minute--NOT), but I have a little free time so I thought I'd drop by for a few minutes.

My favorite story regarding messy desks (although I confess to being a bit of a neatnick at work when it comes to that, only because I hate to go crazy searching for what I want. My house is nowhere as neat as my desk at work, LOL):

Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors. He relates a story in one of his writings that always stuck with me, as I thought it was very funny. Kurt's brother Bernard was a scientist, he actually invented cloud-seeding (to make it rain). Kurt stopped in to visit his brother's lab, and the place was a total disaster of a mess. Papers, chemicals, test tubes, you name it, were strewn all around. Kurt remarked on the mess to his brother. Bernard pointed to his own head and said "If you think this is bad you should see what it's like in here". Loved that line, and at times I sure can relate to it!

Very cool about the marathon Carrie, you'll have to let us know all the details when you do it. Don't forget to stretch! :teeth:

I love Vonnegut! I tell my son often something I read in one of his books, which is if you use bad words, you give people an excuse to automatically tune out and not listen to what you say, no matter how important it is. (not that I swear myself :rolleyes1 ) I have always though that was something to consider and he is at that age when the bad words come out for the reaction. I don't react, I just repeat the above bit of knowledge. It seems to be sinking in. :)

(ok - another Vonnegut favorite was in that awful movie with Rodney Dangerfield where he goes to college, "Back to School" maybe, and he pays Vonnegut to write a paper about one of his books and the teacher fails Dangerfield saying the author of that paper obviously knows NOTHING about Kurt Vonnegut :rotfl: :rotfl2: )

Wow - that was a tangent lol

Yay! I was beginning to worry that I bored all of my virtual friend to death! Except Laura and I think she just likes being bored! ;)

Laura - SO glad teh hubby got a job! Sorry to hear about his remaining to-do prjects, though. That woudl eb the story of my life! You now have a license to eat as much ice crem as you want, right?

Calypso*a*go*go - :rotfl2: That sounds like heartburn waiting to happen. I'm still trying to figure out if I can eat a seafood enchilad and run 1 - 1.5 hours laters. I know the pizza did not go well that way.

Mar' - You think YOUR life is boring?? I just caught myself reading info on the VMK boards and I have no intentiaon of ever playing VMK,a sI do not need another distraction in my life. However, I think I know how to transport to teh Dis community room if anyone needs to know. Oh, I need a life, or at least some motivation...

Hey Carrie any tips on keeping glue from getting on the front of what you're trying to glue into a scrapbook? As soon as I turn the next picture to glue the back over the pic gets gluey on the front from previous gluing. If I don't figure out a better technique I may end up with a scrapGOOK.

Mar' - I've never used glue. You may want to try tape. I use a tape runner, but I know many who use photo splits (Small backed tape squares). Scrapgooking would be bad! Can you take a piece of cotton fabic (scrap from an old sweatshirt or something) and mop it up some when you're done?

What I've been doing is using scrap paper for each photo, a new piece for each one. I was hoping there might be some more practical solution. You did suggest the tape, I will have to give that a try, thanks!

Someone on the CCS mentioned a product called "un-do". You can also get "pick-up squares", kind of like a big rubber eraser that you can use once it's dry. Hopefully, one of those might help.
