Nothing Available

Well, just called and tried to see if there was anything available w/the Visa code for our dates (don't have a visa yet, but i was going to apply, get the instant approval, and try to do a pkg online as others have done). Even w/some flexibility in dates on my part, there was NOTHING available in the 12/13-12/17 range. We already have an AP passholder pkg at POP for those dates, and it wouldn't have given us a huge savings, but we would have had a ticket to use toward our renewal. But now I don't have to worry about changing reservations, applying for the visa, getting it to work w/out having the card in hand, etc. Because there apparently is nothing out there! Oh, well!

I'm actually strangely relieved that I don't have to torture myself over the "what ifs" anymore!

I wouldn't think POP would be gone for those dates so fast. I might even give another call to double check it. Try a preffered room rate for POP, too; sometimes, that will make a difference. The slight upcharge isn't so bad. If it still is sold out for the discount at POP then I would ask about All-Stars.

I would compare just to satisfy myself. Even if POP is your first choice there could be a good savings to switch. I would switch in a heartbeat.

The first time I tried, I used the 13th of Dec. as my start date - there was nothing. Then I realized, the offer doesn't start till the 14th, so I switched to the 14th as my start date, and it was available. (A week stay each time.) So, the problem was the beginning date, the 13th. Just make sure that wasn't the problem with yours, too!

Keep checking...I tried to get the QXD code when they came out back in August and there was nothing available. I have called every day, sometimes twice sometimes three times a day, DH laughed everytime he saw me on the phone. Finally, last Thursday, we got the code for the GF, so we upgraded from POR, I saved $772 Persistance paid for me, peoples plans change and rooms open up. Good luck!

I do think that is part of the problem...ppl have reported having CMs extend the free dining beyond the dates, but i haven't seen anyone say they got it *before*. This trip has been planned since January, though; meeting up w/the in-laws and going on a Disney cruise on the 18th, so there is really no flexibility in the dates, unfortunately.

One thing I *did* find out in my various calls to Disney -- if my dates *had* been available to book for the package, I could have had them switch my existing package to be a free dining package. So there wouldn't have had to be rooms available since I was already "holding" rooms with my deposit on an existing package. They would have done it even though I didn't yet have a Visa in hand -- they said I could call back later w/the acct number.

booking a FD package before the start date will never work. It's how the system works. Similar to how it use to work with the room rates in previous years.

Only way to do it is to do a room only for the day before and a package afterwards. Regarding tix, some claim they were able to obtain them on the previous day I guess with some pixie dust help...

Extending the package after the deadline works because it's how the system is setup now...
