Nothing About Poly Island Tower At D23?

So the Disney Experiences Showcase came and went and we didn’t hear anything about the Polynesian Island Tower, points chart, sale date or anything DVC.

1 day of D23 left and it doesn’t look like there is anything DVC related going on.

Am I the only one dissapointed?

They had a display up in the expo hall and we learned more about the pool and splash pad as well as the restaurant from it.

I think point charts at D23 was always a long shot.

I’m not personally disappointed, no, but I think it’s because my expectations were lower.

I feel like they’ve gotten a bit of flack in the past talking about the “niche” DVC products at these events so I imagine there won’t be much of those kinds of announcements going forward at D23 (at least the big one in Anaheim). Unless there’s a resorts section of these announcements or they’re announcing something brand new, then I could see a small segment at D23. Besides, they had a lot of bigger things to lay out during the 1h45 they had last night then to talk about point charts and sales for the Poly Tower.

I do expect to hear more about in the next couple of weeks though! Entering the autumn season without any info seems a bit counterproductive for DVD with opening so close. I’m hoping now that the excitement and hype of the new parks announcements at D23 will start to fade, we’ll get DVC stuff so as not to compete with all the other new info.

Agree with @CastAStone that expectations for a DVC announcement at D23 were unlikely to happen. I suspect that is a month or two away yet.

If you check out the Island Tower thread or visit www.dvcfan.com you will see photos I took of the booth. Only updates are confirmed Moana splash pad and two renderings of the restaurant.

I wasn’t expecting much else. Advertising an on sale date at an event like last night just didn’t feel like the right time or place, I do think they will announce soonish via the Disney Parks Blog.

We won’t get any of that stuff until we are days away from sales beginning.

And, I will be surprised to see sales before October 1st. So I am expecting info end of September.
October, really? I was under the assumption we would get sales info D23 or immediately after.

A part of me also was expecting to hear the announcement of Reflections 2.0 at D23

They just declared the first set of units a week ago, so it’s one step closer! Given current incentives end Sept 30th, seems like starting sales Oct 1st would fall into that timeframe. Always could surprise us!

Disney announcing the parks details and upcoming movies/shows was always going to determine if it was a successful event or not. As other have pointed out DVC is a niche product that doesn’t impact most Disney fans.

Now that Disney has fans so excited for the MK expansions of Frontierland and Villains land, they have everyone excited for the area.

This was actually more surprising to me. I don't think what remains to be said about Poly Tower is something to be covered at D23. Points charts and sales dates are not interesting for a project they've already released all the flashy details of.

However, Reflections 2.0 I thought would be something interesting they could pump, especially capitalizing on the nostalgia of River Country and perhaps billing it as part of a wider development push of Bay Lake. Given they renewed permits and there seems to be activity moving this along, it seems like one of the more concrete developments they could have hyped. I wonder if we've read too much into whether this is really re-launching or not?

Tom Corless of WDWNT said that a few announcements had to be cut from the final presentation because there was so much they were ready to share but worried about time so a new DVC hotel probably wasn’t vital enough to talk about at this particular showcase. Plenty of things are announced outside of D23 events so I’m sure we’ll hear about it in the coming months/year 🤞🏼

Wasn’t the original Reflections announced at D23? If so, any announcement about 2.0 at the event may have been unwise.

Is tonight when they have the Fortnite live event? Is an “island” common in Fortnite? (Sorry, I’m old and clueless). Asking because didn’t they tell people to visit the “island” for at least 10 minutes to get some gift?

It was last night, but still available to stream on Fortnite. An island is like a “hub” within Fortnite so if you visited the Disney hub for at least ten minutes and watched the stream of their Fortnite announcements, you will get a virtual item next week. Technically you can still log into Fortnite and watch to be eligible for another few days, too.

All of this knowledge is courtesy of having an 8 year old Fortnite obsessed son who made darn sure he live-streamed it last night to get his item. 😂

Basically, all they said was that Disney is bringing their characters to Fortnite so you can play as them, and that the next season of Fortnite is Marvel themed. They already have Marvel and Star Wars characters, so it seemed a little overhyped even for someone who cares about Fortnite. We will see.

I don't think they'd announce anything of note in Fortnite except Fortnite things.

Because the main demographic of Fortnite tnds to be under 12.

This would be inaccurate.

Roughly 65-70% of the user base will be over 18 with around 25% over the age of 25.

So yes you have a number of under 12 year olds are a good user base they would not be the main demographic. They can be the main demographic that the ads were focused on though.

Keep in mind Fortnite is at a user base of over 650m so the under 12s likely make up 100m kids though so not insignificant and likely why you think its all little kids as they are the ones most easily targeted with marketing in that specific game.

we didn’t hear anything

I just can't imagine them announcing so mundane as point charts especially without them streaming the event.

My only thought was if they possibly announcing a new DVC expansion but thought that was super low potential based on active sales in so many locations right now and the upcoming sales for POLY.

Disney didn't invest $1.5 billion into Epic Games for no reason!

Epic prints money. They also are the ones who make the engine that a ton of things run on from video games to movies (like Marvel).

It's a great spot for Disney to be ready to capture market share in the soon to be AI interactive story telling games that will likely come in the next 5-10 years.
