I am considering purchasing at the BCV and need a little help. When we purchase, can we place our payment on multiple credit cards? (I have reward programs via Kroger Visa and Farm Bureau Visa and I also have the Pulaski Credit Card which is at 5.5% beating Disney int. rate)
Currently, my guide says our points are issued in Feb., my question, how often does this change? Are there benefits to other times of the year?
I am looking at purchasing either 150 pts. or 210. I thought about just getting my foot in the door with 150 and then adding a re-sale later at the Boardwalk, thoughts? Thank you for any help offered as I really enjoy this useful forum!

I, too, am about to purchase. Our use year would be March but I can request a different one and have questions about that as well (see my post on use year ). As far as using a credit card. I was able to put the deposit on a card and the balance on another card if desired. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to split the balance as some people don't have a limit that would support the total. Good luck...I can't wait to be a full fledged member!

It is harder and more expensive to buy a small re-sale add on, than150 + contract. Closing costs are mostly to blame, so expect to pay a bit more per point, for a smaller contract....

Also by having more than on resort you only get the 11 month booking window for the points you have at their OWN home resort.... This can cause some trouble, when wanting to combine contracts, and book a bigger trip..... unless the thought of switching hotels mid-stay appeals to you. We love doing that, just cause if makes the vacation seem longer and who ever wants the magic to end......

BUT if you bank and borrow successfully good things can happen.... a 60 point add on banked means 120, or even 180 if you borrow. So 180 every three years, with the 11 month booking window, NICE......

The options are endless.... Some people buy as many points as they can conforatbly at their favorite DVC resort, be it BWV, BCV, OKW, HH, VB, VWL..........

And some people do what we did.... Have points at a couple of DVC resorts, to spread that 11 month window out.

It is a hard choice.... have fun making it! And keep us posted!

Hampshire Mickey, your use year does NOT change. I

f your points are issued in February, they will always be issued in February. You can bank 100% of this years allotment of Vacation Points to next year if you do so by the end of July. You can only bank 50% if you don't bank until the end of October and only 25% if you don't bank until the end of November. If you have points out there and don't bank them at all before November 30th, you lose them. Just keep that in mind. This is why it's so important to know what you have for points.

My use year begins in August and I can bank 100% if I bank them by January 31 which worked out perfect for me since we always make ressies for January, so it's easy for me to know what I will and won't use for the year.

Hope I didn't confuse you................

Hampshire Mickey,

1 - I think resale at BCV will be hard to find, at least for two or three years. It's way too soon for many people to be into resale for BCV. Usually resale happens because of a lifestyle change - someone gets too sick to travel to Disney, there is a divorce, or someone loses a job and can't afford to pay the dues.

2 - You might consider buying the 150 points now and then keeping watch / in touch with your guide about how they are selling out at BCV for your use year. When they get close to sell out, consider buying another 75 points at BCV from Disney. That way you will have a total of 225 points at BCV with the same use year, but could easily sell, give, or will either contract 10, 20, or 30 years from now if your lifestyle changes.

I'll agree with Cap - a BCV resale will be tough for awhile. I had one and it sold immediately. Have you considered BWV? While still rare, your chances increase significantly.

If you aren't in a hurry, put your name on the list and one might come along...you never know.

Best regards,
Shontell
