Has anyone ever traveled with a young child (ours is three) and not taken a car seat? We usually do, but we are going to take a short trip in March and will fly into MCO and take the magic express bus. We aren't going to rent a car. We are staying at polly and will probably only go to MK and epcot. My mil lives there and has a car but I doubt we will go anywhere off property.

I wonder if anyone has ever flown down and not taken their car seat? What if there is some kind of emergency? Do taxis and things like that have a way to get a car seat?

This is probably a silly question but we usually take one for sitting in during the flight anyway. Our last trip it saved some nerves by litting him sit in the seat without it, and actually that turned out fine so we are thinking about not taking one for the flight. And if we don't take it for the flight, we might not even have to take it I guess. I know the flight would be safer with it, but everybody on that plane is going to appreciate us letting him strap in the regular seat belt.

We took a booster seat that was packed in the suitcase in case we needed to take a taxi but guess that depends on the size of the child. DGS was 4 at the time. I understand that some of the taxis have them available - you can get valet services to call one that does if it becomes an issue.

We don't take a car seat. Especially when traveling by ME. Its just a hassle on the plane so we don't use it on there either. Its so great not having to lug it through the airport!!:thumbsup2

Even our last trip when we rented a car (June 2006) we didn't take the car seat. We used Avis and just rented one from them. It was fine. They had plenty and looked brand new. It was like $10 a day but we were only there 5 days and it saved us from the headache of packing around the car seat.

I read in another post you can let the taxi service know that you need a booster seat and they will send one along. There is car rental on site and they might have booster seats for rent as well. I'm sure that if you needed one, on of the CM's at your hotel would help you one way or another.

A lot of the cabs now carry car seats. Just insist on the taxi having a car seat until a driver comes up with one.

We never took one on the plane if we didn't need it for a rental car. I wouldn't go thru the hassle of lugging one for the minute chance you maybe, might need one. The greatest chance of you using a taxi would probably be leaving a park to go to the hotel if it is late and crowded and are you going to have the seat with you at that point in time?
