Asking for a friend ...

How many points are too many points? (The friend is me).

I keep adding and adding ... make me feel better by telling me how many points you have.

I mean…I see by your name you may already have a problem.

We have 310 points. In a few years I might consider going to 350 contingent on a few things happening that may not happen.

We have 300, and it's been enough for 27+ years.

Of course, we just lucked into buying one of the most desirable resorts when there weren't very many others and being able to swap into the new ones as they came along!

I’m in ‘The Comma Club’ and am ALWAYS in borrow mode! I need another 500 in order to feel like I have enough. I must be doing something wrong!

I’m shy of the comma club but trying to migrate from the banking club to the borrowing club (making some progress!) before pulling the trigger on buying more…but I am thinking I need more BCV soon because my kids aren’t going to be willing to share the Murphy bed much longer.

I realize that this is an individual parenting choice and could depend on the kids in question, but I’d love to hear what age other DVCers stopped having their boy girl kids share a bed.

We currently do 1 bedrooms in the higher point value rooms. Our kids are currently almost 8 girl, 5 boy, 3 boy. They currently share the queen murphy. The 3 year old likes to sleep with us most of the time. Sharing a bed still works for us but I'm guessing within the next 2 years that our girl will probably want her own bed which will be the twin pulldown. Probably in about 3-5 years I see us transitioning to a 2 bedroom (possibly sooner if we end up having custody of my husband's brother if anything happens to his mom). We have the points for 2 bedrooms (or occasional cabins, bungalow ect. and are far into the comma club because we've planned for the future). We are currently donating points to family members this week we have family staying for 6 nights in a 1 bedroom at Saratoga (they paid $1100 towards the difference between a studio and 1 bedroom cost since they decided at 2 months out the didn't like the boulder ridge studio layout with 4 people and we had to borrow points), we are in a 1 bedroom at Grand Flo for 6 nights, next week we are donating points for another family member to stay 7 nights in a Poly original studio. In september my momco group is coming to Orlando for momco and after the convention we are doing 2 nights in a GF grand villa on our points. We have 4 more wdw/dl trips booked for us over the next year plus aulani. I see us helping 2 more groups of friends or family next year again. Any excess points we have will get rented through the board sponsor to help fund 2-3 nights at Universal and/or a disney cruise so we can avoid paying taxes on the rentals. We were lucky to of grabbed up some exceptionally priced fully loaded resale contracts in the past year so we had a lot of extra points to use up this year.

As you've said as far as the kids sharing I think it depends a lot on the kids in question.

We were letting them all rotate so they all got a chance to sleep alone, but the oldest is now almost 12 and she just turned 9, so if felt like the right time to do it. The boys fought us on it at first, but it was not negotiable. There has to be some benefit to being the only girl.

I do not feel the need to upgrade to a 2 bedroom, although the smaller point gap between 1 and 2 makes me a little sick. We still do studios a lot since we take shorter trips often. I feel like if we ever go to 2 BR we'll start inviting people to come along, so there will still be bed sharing involved.

They were probably 6 and 8 the last time they shared one, give or take. We moved up to 2BRs after that but more to have a living room in which no one was sleeping.

I had an abundance mindset when I was exchange-only, because it didn't really matter. It will be interesting to see how (if?) I maintain that going forward---I had thought that having a mix of exchange stays in larger units and point-based stays in smaller ones would work, but it is hard to keep them separate in my monkey brain.

When you select the title company, do you contact them before informing the broker to verify costs? I'm concerned if we use the broker as the middle person the price may go up.

I'm coming up on my June visit, staying at Polynesian for the first time ever, and feeling sad not to be staying at my home resort! LOL. Does this happen to other people? I swear, I'm sure Polynesian will be great, but it isn't on Crescent Lake.

Also, is there anything we really can't miss? We've booked the two reportedly worst character breakfasts (Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana) because my 7 year old really wants to meet Mickey at least once this trip. And we have a Lightning Lane for Tiana's and Tron, since we still haven't done them yet.

What Polynesian or MK-centric thing is a definite "do not miss" for you?

Why are they considered the worst, Chef Mickeys was my favorite, tons of food options, try the cinammon rolls! We liked it even better than Boma!

Ohana breakfast is okay, the famous bread is good, but the rest is your standard breakfast fare. All you care to enjoy brought out to you isn't my favorite style but Stitch is of course the main dish

We like Chef Mickeys. If you sit up top in the back you get a great view of the castle.

'Ohana has Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch if you don't want two character meals.

Pineapple Lanai is popular if you like Dole Whip. The Water Pageant is nice to see at a MK resort if you typically stay at a Crescent Lake resort. Same with the fireworks. You can see them from the Poly beach, pool, 'Ohana, etc. Get some leis when you check-in.

Kona Cafe and Captain Cook's have some unique food options. Tonga toast, macadamia nut pancakes, loco moco, thai coconut meatballs, pulled pork nachos, etc.

The rest of the family friendly recreational activities like pool games, smores, tie dye, etc would be similar to all the other WDW resorts.

Trader Sam's allows children up to 8pm, but it's probably not worth it as a family.

I really like renting pontoon boats. The views on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake are great!

It was pretty alarming, I was sitting on the balcony and I told my wife "Babe, somethings coming!!!

We both looked in awe and had to make sure it wasnt an unknown holiday and there was a patriotic boat parade taking place. We called the front desk and found out it was indeed part of Disney
