Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

Loving everything so far, the trek looks like so much fun and we are defo going to try and do it (just waiting for Disney to start taking bookings for September).

More please :teeth:

Well, I'm all caught up again - I didn't even come back to eat the popcorn I was making!:rotfl2:

Old news, but I was shocked at how long it took to get your room already.
Nice gifts you were treated to!

So fun you got to see the Dream off! It is so fun to be onboard and see people waving to celebrate with you.

I'm loving this Wild Africa Trek! I had no idea you could have such adventure at AK! Can't wait for more!

You are leaving so soon! Don't forget to check out my cruise TR - it's not the Dream, but it's DCL!

I trying to catch up on everyone's trip/ pre trip reports.

The tour looks pretty cool, although a bit terrifying. I don't know if I would want to be that close to hippos. I've seen the shows about how dangerous hippos our on whatever nature channel it is way too many times.

I can't wait to see what's up nextpopcorn::

I am really liking the sound of this Wild Africa Trek; I really think it is something Mark would enjoy and perhaps I could surprise him with it. Do you remember how much it costs per person?

The Trek is looking very interesting !!!! We are doing a GG Safari in October ,which sounds great!!!

It was a wonderful tour, so worth every penny! Can't wait to hear about your GG Safari! :thumbsup2

This is sooo cool!

You would love it, Jen! :goodvibes

Stefy, you should really look into this - you would LOVE it!
I hope to be able to update tomorrow! :goodvibes

We kind of got used to not being able to have a room and later to not have service! :rotfl2:
The gifts were wonderful! We have met some wonderful friends here on the DIS!

When we sailed on the Wonder, we loved that there were so many people waving when we left harbour. That gave us the idea of waving goodbye to the ships! :thumbsup2

We will definitely do the Wild Africa Trek again! Not in the summer, that might be too hot for us, but when we go again in the spring!

Oh, and since you mentioned your TR - I love it! Am all caught up! :woohoo:

cant wait to see where the rope bridge goes!!!

I am so sorry to leave you hanging, I really hope to be able to update tomorrow! :goodvibes

It was not frightening at all! There was always a safe distance between the hippos and us trekkers! :thumbsup2
There are more surprises "lurking" on the trek, hope to be able to update tomorrow!

I am really liking the sound of this Wild Africa Trek; I really think it is something Mark would enjoy and perhaps I could surprise him with it. Do you remember how much it costs per person?

We just loved the trek, Kathy! When we did it, they had just started offering it and we got a special "trial" price of 130$ per person. Yip, I know, not real cheap but it was SO worth every single penny!
I think I read that the prices range around $180 during the summer, but I could be wrong! :lmao:

Wooow. This trek is looking REALLY COOL.

I must do this some time. I love the intimacy of it all! Was there a lot of walking?

I wonder what the drivers told the people on the Safari when they saw you guys!

It was one of the coolest tours at WDW! We really enjoyed it and are planning on repeating the experience, just maybe not in the summer. ;)

There was a bit of walking during the first part, but it was all nice and leisurely. The rest of the tour we were driven around in a safari car.

We actually DID a safari in a regular vehicle lateron in the trip and they did not mention the trek at all, even though you could see the trekkers from the vehicle. Hm, makes me think, we did look UP and around to see the trekkers, maybe they aren't THAT obvious after all! :confused3 :lmao:

I can't wait to hear where the rope bridge took you to. I am scared to death of those things. :scared1::lmao:

Sophia, I usually don't go close to these things either and was worried if I wanted to do this or not, but this IS DISNEY!!!!!! They look after you pretty well.
The animals underneath the bridge are actually kind of green and have LOADS of teeth! :rotfl2:

I'm waiting !!!popcorn::

Not much longer, Rosie! :goodvibes

Day 4, February 22

Megan and Meghan take us to Wild Africa! - Part 5

Soon after we hit the rope bridges.

Up a few steps we went and then Megan hooked us up to the wire above and we slowly made our way across the first rope bridge.

There were only 2 people allowed on the bridge at one time and you had to go slowly and watch where you step as some of the wooden steps were missing.

But once you were halfway across the bridge, the crocodiles were right underneath you.

I think everyone in the group stopped to at least look down or take some photos. When we got to the end of the first bridge, Meghan took some more individual photos

before we all lined up again to cross the second bridge.

More crocodiles underneath and we all really enjoyed the view of the Safari Vehicles and the wildlife below.

Once we had crossed both bridges we got unhooked and walked just a few more steps until we got to another overlook where we had to hook up our safety lines to a metal rod and then we could step forward to take a real close up look of the crocodiles below.

There were quite a lot of them and it was very interesting to see them for our viewing area.

We were in for another “hike” which took about 5 minutes

and then we got to another gate. This is where we could take off our harnesses and boarded a safari vehicle of our own.

Megan and Meghan explained what would happen next and soon we were off and joined the convoy of Safari Vehicles.

I think I would be so nervous with those gators below me. EEEK!
But I love all the shots they take of you.

I am going in August for an Agent Education program and one afternoon is at AK fir a "park experience". I don't know what that means? But I keep secretly wishing it would be this. I highly doubt it though. I think they would have to be sure we knew it and were Ok with that, as there are people of all adult ages going. But still it would be so neat!! ;)

Oh my gosh, Karin!!!! Those are amazing photos! Everyone on that Tour was incredibly courageous and adventurous! Being a certified wimp, I could never do a tour like that, but it sure is fun watching you & Tom! :thumbsup2

The individual pics they take of you are great!!!

Have some catching up to do tonight! GREAT update! TY!!:goodvibes

Karin, how physically fit do you need to be for this? It sounds wonderful and like something I ( not fit) and my friend (very fit) would really enjoy. Poor DH will be a few months past a total hip replacement so he would not be up for it. Thank you for the report and photographs of it!:)

I think I could handle it !1The Bridges would be scary but with the hook up I think I could do it !! Hmm Maybe I can convince them at People and Places to make it part of the Free Trip next year!!!!

Wow how close were those crocs :scared1: You got some great shots though and it's cool you got to stop a little bit and take some photos :)
