Not One, Not Two, But Three Trips In One (now with PICS!)

Me, DD13, DD21 and a long-time friend of hers


Trip 1:

Drive from KY to NC to visit another of DD21's friends for a couple of days.


Trip 2:

Drive from NC to Ormond Beach to spend a couple days at the beach at my Dad's timeshare.


Trip 3:

DISNEY!!! Two fun-filled, jam-packed days at DHS and MK!



I figured I'd post up here what I was "live blogging" elsewhere (with some editing/censoring...esp. of encounters while driving. ) and fill in some details and add pics later. I'll start with Day 1 as we prepared to leave and then finally hit the road.



Chapter 1 - Wagons East
Monday, August 4, 2008

Well, southeast. And not so much wagons as a Mazda (one nearing 100k miles in 4 1/2 years but still looking new!)

11:15am - At the orthodontist with my little one (who still has no idea we're going to Disney later this week!) and then have to get her some school uniform skirts. Then I get my haircut (gotta look my best for the beach. ha ha!) Then finally back home to pack up the car and hit the road! N.C. before midnight! (I'd just as soon head straight for the beach but my girls need to see their good friends and a new baby in their family)

Hungry as heck right now, too. Woe is me.


EDIT: Tally Ho!! (a couple hours ahead of schedule...)


4:35pm - Early Rush-Hour idiot drivers in their pickups and SUVs in Lexington.

5:40pm - What the heck is up w/this semi (plain white trailer, red cab, jersey tags)..speeding up, slowing down, passes me then slows and I pass him, repeat. Drugged up moron. btw, Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting.... (on my iPod, that is )

6:35pm - 3hrs in. Approaching Charleston, WV. Quick dinner stop there. Probably at the Way of the Sub. Cops have been thick all the way so far. ooooooo...just passed a Novelty, Inc truck. I want to hijack it!! oh, John Hiatt says Everybody Went Low.

8:00pm - Phone battery getting low. heh. In mtns of WV about 3hrs from our destination. ha ha..."United Colours"...this used to scare my oldest when she was little. She'd make me skip the track.. lol

signing off for the day.

12:24am - Hey...free wireless from a neighbor down here in N.C. My oldest is off with her friend to some friend of hers. Girls socializing...gee...imagine that. lol! I am now officially ON VACATION!


P.S. I just realized something. It never rained on the whole drive down! I swear I think that's the first time I've driven a considerable distance and not encountered a single drop of rain!

I bolded the part above because that happens to me all the time. And usually a car that I know has cruise control and should use it!! I certainly always do.

I never even thought of that! But, we were trying to get to NC before it got too late but, yeah, next time thru I'll give a shout first!
