So, I can remember waking up at like 2 am. Ok, not really, but it had seemed like I had just closed my eyes from a busy day at MGM & now I have to wake up early again. I am NOT a morning person. I have had severe insomnia due to my dad's suicide in 2000. If I am falling asleep by 9 pm with no naps during the day, it's just all catching up with me. That being said, it is 2:42 am & I am doing this update. So we all get dressed & ready. Our ADR's were for 7 am! My MIL had ordered everyone ORANGE matching shirts. I hate orange!!! It was my SIL's fave color at the time, so that is what she got for us to wear. Told you my SIL was a princess *rolling eyes*. My MIL said we all had to wear that shirt on the same day. I think it is cheesy, not anymore but at the time I did. My SIL who these were bought for wore a camo shirt. Go figure. So we walk the mile or so to the bus stop, catch the monorail, I think, & get to the Contemporary. A few pics before we get there:

And then I see:

Quick back track, view from the monorail:

So we check in & wait FOREVER! I really think that this was the longest wait we had our entire trip! They FINALLY call Ashley family of 7 & proceeded to take this pic, which would have been awesome of my SIL would have worn her matching shirt. Everyone says she wore camo so she couldn't be seen. I think it makes her stand out more.

Right after that, we were seated, now I don't remember what order they arrived, so I'm going by the pic number.
I THINK Donald was first

Then Pluto:

Up next was Goofy (my MIL had her camera on some setting & all her pics are SUPER blurry, so all you get is one of mine):

Then it was time to meet Minnie!:

My FIL decided to kiss Minnie

Think Mickey might be jealous?

*****continued in next post*****

After that it was time to wave our napkins!

My MIL & FIL waving their napkins:

And my SIL's reaction to them (can't wait until she can embarrass Sophia like this!)
jonisdisney301.jpg

And who do we see next?

MICKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, Brady has my SIL's cell phone that was a pic phone. He knew how to take pics of himself on there, but didn't realize that he had to turn it around to take pics of others! So Mickey walks up & says, "Mickey, say Cheese!" Well if Brady would have snapped the pic it would have been of him. Here is the pic (notice the way the phone is facing):
100_0971.jpg

Mickey was GREAT! He politely turned the phone around & posed for this:
100_0977.jpg

We were about peeing our pants, dying of laughter. Now, if you laugh at Brady's embarrassments, he gets MAD. He decided, in the front of Mickey that he had to poo. Not potty, not go to the bathroom, go poo. I could have died. But Mickey blew it off like he had heard it before & posed for these pics:

Finally it was time for us to leave & head back to MK. I don't think Koby was too pleased:
jonisdisney305.jpg

Coming up, our 2nd day at MK: Stranded by the castle due to a huge fight with the MIL & Brady crying to meet Ariel, even though his lips were blue!

I just wanted to suggest that if you guys do watch Wishes and Shelby can't handle the noise, you can always duck into a shop or restaurant with her. A lot of parents also brought earplugs for their little kids, at least that I noticed while I was working there. But, basically, the further away from the castle you are, the less noisy it is. The train station platform is actually a very good viewing area for that. It's far enough that the noise isn't particularly bad, but you still get a great view. Get there early, though, because it gets fairly crowded up there :flower3:

Great idea! It wasn't the noise that bothered her. She wanted to go to bed! She has put herself on a strict bedtime since she was 2 months old & Heaven help you if you try to change it!

:lmao: Okay then :) Well, that's still a good spot. There's limited seating up there and a LOT of people think that area's closed or for "special guests" or whatever, so they don't go up there. You guys would also be close to restrooms, the front of the park, and the bakery and popcorn and ice cream carts for snacks :)

Oooooh thanks!!!!!

No problem :) My mom and I got last-minute seating up there one night in November for Wishes. She liked it better up there than down on the curb level.

Seeing Wishes will be a first for everyone. My MIL never stuck around for any fireworks. I was quite peeved by it. I wanted to see it all!

:lmao: Well, make sure you stick around to see them this time! They're worth it!

Also, another benefit I just remembered about being on the train station platform: Since it's less crowded, you won't have the body heat of everyone around you making you even hotter!

I plan on it! I planned on it last trip, but a screaming hysterically 14 month old is not pleasant. I'm not sure if you read my TR, but I managed to catch half of the Electrical Parade while Shelby slept in the stroller. Once she woke up, oh lord! I walked to the Kodak place, right after you enter the parks on the right hand side, with all the rockers. They had some elderly rocking watching, but there were some 5 year old being crazy on them, trying to flip them. I sat on a bench while some lady from Spain tried to keep Shelby occupied with games on her iPhone. Now if it was me, I would have made one of my kids get up, so the mommy could rock her screaming child. Not these parents. I got so many looks of "would you please shut that child up, I am trying to enjoy this" like you would not believe. Ben & the boys went eat & ride BTMRR & couldn't get back to me until the parade was over since everything was blocked off.

That's awful :( I don't know if you know, but at the Hall of Presidents, there's actually a little porch to the right of the entrance, and there are two rocking chairs there. Maybe when you guys go next time, you could stake those out early so you could have the rocker for you and Shelby, if she needs it, but can still watch the parade?

It was awful! I couldn't believe the rude people! If it was my children & there was a screaming baby, it would be "get you @$$ up & let them rock that baby!" Honestly, I wouldn't have to say it, they would do it on their own. The lady from Spain didn't want to leave Shelby. She even told her family that if she left that the baby girl would cry. She must have been from here, but with family because she talked English VERY well. I wish I knew her name or got a pic, she was amazing. I just don't get how some people would let a baby cry like that, without helping for 20 minutes, at least. I plan on getting there early next time & just in case have me or my boys have their butt parked in a rocker in case Shelby has a meltdown. When we got back to the resort, I just wanted to cry.

I totally agree that I would've yelled at them to get up if they were my kids. I don't get it either :( I hated seeing kids cry at the parks. My coworkers and I kept extra pins and stickers and stuff with us all the time to hand out to kids who were crying (except tantrum-type crying). I hope the rest of your trip was good!

I even had rude CMs! They gave me the most dirty looks while she cried! Where were you when I needed you???:lmao: Mickey stickers would have made it so great. BTW, any place I can get those? My boys were great with Shelby at Disney & other babies/younger kids. Talked to them in line.....example: Going on Dinosaur this child is asking if it is scary & the mom says no, child is about 5 if I had to guess. Koby tells him & quotes from me: Disney will never make a ride that hurts you. It is all make believe. It may seem scary at some parts, but it will be over faster than you can blink." After the ride was over, the kid hugged Koby & said "thank you". Made Koby's day.

:confused::confused: What the heck happened to guest service? :lmao: Unfortunately, I stopped working there in January 09. I'm hoping to move back to Florida in a few years (want to finish school and save up some money first), and then hopefully go back to working for the mouse. If I can't find anything at Disney right away, I'll get my CNA certification transferred over to FL and do that for a while.

Typically, just about any manager or custodial person will know where to find Mickey stickers. You could probably also order other Disney stickers online, but I'm not sure who sells them :confused3 But yeah, in custodial we had all kinds of stuff to hand out to guests. We also were encouraged to blow bubbles if we didn't have anything else to do. That was always fun :)

YOU would be the CM we would have come home bragging about!

Brady told a CM while waiting to meet Daisy at Epoct that he had a 4.0 gpa all year long. She told him keep it up & Mickey would pay for him to go to college. That was all he needed to hear! Koby wants to be a Saints football player & give us season tickets & Brady wants to work at Disney World & get us discounts on tickets. Yeah..........I am raising great boys. :lmao:

:lmao: Honestly, one of the reasons I got my current job? Having Disney on my resume. My boss modeled their customer service training after Disney's. Slightly random, but if you're ever in Magic Kingdom and want stickers, look for a custodian named Adam. He's got a big mouth, so he's hard to miss, but he ALWAYS had stickers.

If Brady wants to work for Disney, he should look into the College Program. That's how I got started with the company. It's actually a pretty good experience :) I'm hoping to do another program or a PI (professional internship) somewhere down the line to kind of get my foot back in the door with Disney.

How can they NOT hire you after Disney is on your resume?

I told Brady, thanks to DIS, that he can work there in college & said "AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Working at Disney, how can you say "I hate my job"? I would love to thank Cinderella personally for the moment she had with Shelby. I don't know if she does that with all babies, but she sure made us feel super special. And now when Shelby sees Cindy on anything, there are tons of kisses & pointing with her saying "Mama pretty! Pretty, Mama." Yes, baby girl, Cinderella is pretty.

It sounds like a crummy job, but I actually really really loved custodial. There was such a high level of guest interaction in it, and you felt like you were really immersed in the park. On my first program, I did housekeeping at the Boardwalk, but I liked being in the park better, even with the crazy hours :lmao:

I knew a few people who hated it, but I think they were just in the wrong role for them. If you want to, I'd suggest sending Disney an email on their guest service email with the date and approximate time that you guys met Cinderella and your comments on it. That way, they can actually go to Cinderella's friend and tell her what a good job she did. Any time you have a wonderful experience like that, get their name (or if it's a character, time, date, and place) and go to Guest Services or a manager and ask for a comment card. I don't remember what exactly it's called, but they should give you the right thing. The good thing about the cards is that the CM knows they're doing their job right, but they also get notations on their record card and then can enter themselves in whatever drawing is going on at the time :)

Wow! Thanks! I am not sure of the time though. I know it was the afternoon of June 22nd. I think I just might call Disney later on & see what happens. She was amazing with Shelby. I am planning on getting the biggest pic I possibly can of her & Cindy together (the pic that is my avatar) & put it in her room.

You might even be able to send them the photos of her and Shelby, since you're not sure what time. They should be able to piece together who her friend was at the time :)

And something I just remembered about, concerning people hating it until they got the right role? On my PTR, the girl in the picture with me in the first post HATED her first role (skipper on Jungle Cruise). She eventually got transferred to custodial and loved it :) She's now a character attendant and loves it even more :rotfl:
