Since Shelby has been born, Koby has been begging for me to let him take her outside. Well since Ben was mopping the floor, I told Koby he could. He was all excited. Then he asks if he could take the camera with him. I said sure. I put the leash on her arm that I had bought in Disney & they were off. He gave Brady the camera & Brady managed to capture this sweet moment:

As promised, here is the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Now if you are not a NASCAR fan, please feel free to skip this part. We did this on our very first day so Ben's cousin could ride. Here are some of the pics from that day.

Inside of the building with Brady, Sierra, & Koby:

Now you can buy the actual tires they use to drive around the track. From what I can remember, they can only be used once because they wear them down to nothing. I want to say they were $4.00 each. Well, one of Ben's brothers loves NASCAR, so they bought him 4 tires as a souvie. My in laws said that it was the cheapest souvie that they had ever bought at Disney.
Here are Koby & Brady sitting on the tires:

Now my FIL had a jacked up truck. Look how much bigger his truck is compared to the tires:

Well, lets fast forward to the day my FIL & Ben get to drive/ride. Ben got to ride along, for I think $125 & my FIL got to drive for $200, prices may be off, but I know it was around that price. My FIL had been saying that he wanted to drive his truck to RPDE, in hopes that he could drive his truck around the track. Well, for some reason, he took the Disney bus. He could have kicked himself. The track was wet due to rain from the night before & they needed to dry it off before anyone could ride or drive on it. So they told everyone who brought their vehicles to line up they could help dry off the track by driving on it. My FIL could have kicked himself in butt for not driving his truck! That is his only regret! But, Koby was able to ride in the RPDE van!

Now there were classes my FIL & Ben had to take before even getting in the car that took up half of our day! So this was what I took outside of the building:

Ben isn't a NASCAR fan, but he was hoping to ride the 8 car, as we all know, it is Dale Earnhardt Jr's car. What car does he get?
jonisdisney374.jpg

He got it! I love this pic of him:

And this is what Brady did as soon as Ben got out of the car:

Ben said it was a great rush & glad he was able to experience it, but he doesn't ever have to do it again. After a few more hours it was my FIL's turn to drive. He got 7 laps at 175 mph & he was stoked! I was bored to tears & was just ready to head to Epcot. Now we had been there since 7 am & we didn't get to Epcot until 5 pm! All day wasted! I was NOT happy. But FINALLY we are off to Epcot!!!!

Loving all of your reports!! And that picture of your son and daughter is so precious!!!

I love the pictures of the kids watching the DVD :)

I also totally understand about the Richard Petty thing. I'll never understand Nascar period, let alone the driving experience, but that's just me. :confused3

The best part, after I took the pics, Shelby said "MICKEY!" Yes, I was crying.

Like Ben said, for him it was a great experience, but nothing he ever will do again. I was more ticked off about wasting that day there instead of Epcot!

Awwww! :lovestruc That's so cute!

On the bright side, he doesn't want to do it again, right? It would annoy me if he wanted to do it again :lmao:

That's good, then :) I don't think any of the men in my family want to do it, if they even know it exists, which I doubt. My brother knows very little about WDW, and my dad only really knows about the parks, DTD, and what I've told him. My uncle's so not into Nascar. Not sure about my other uncles.

I don't think too many know about it. I was watching the Disney Parks dvd & it said it was one of the well kept secrets. Well, apparently, my MIL found out about it & let my FIL know!

Yeah, the only reason I ever found out about (aside from driving past it) was by wandering on the wedding boards on here and seeing someone who'd done it for her husband. We're not big Nascar fans :lmao:

Neither are we. I guess if you are a NASCAR fan, it would be like us Disney nuts meeting Mickey!

:lmao: Apparently so :) I think I was more ecstatic about meeting Eeyore the first time than Mickey, though...

My DH wants to do that Nascar driving thing soooo bad! He loves driving fast, and to drive an actual Nascar car would be like, his dream come true! It's over $400 to drive the car now for 8 laps, and I keep wanting to surprise him with it, but I never have an extra $400! :confused3 Maybe someday!

Love the pics of the kids watching the Disney DVD! :lovestruc I might do the same thing today! :rolleyes1

Holy crap! They have gone up in the price. I asked my MIL how much it was to drive it & she said it was $180 to drive & $125 to ride.
