Not EXACTLY Birthday?

I just want to say that I adore these forums! Everyone is so helpful! Now I have a question.

We will be at WDW from Jan. 12-16. My DS birthday is January 30. Is it OK to ask for a birthday pin for him and celebrate as though it is his birthday, or are those festivities ONLY for people who are there on their actual birthday? The trip is technically his Christmas AND birthday present so I really want to make it count. He is turning 9 and we have never been on a family vacation.

Any other tips on making his time REALLY special? We are staying at the Pop Century (have requested 50's building) and I have PS for breakfast at Restaurantsaurus and Crystal Palace as well as one for Sci-Fi. He is a huge fan of cheesy horror movies, so he will love it even though it isn't character dining.

I read the other thread about having a special phone call from a character. Are there other things available for a reasonable cost (or better yet, free?). Thanks for your help! :wave2:

We have celebrated an unbirthday before...actually my dd's birthday is Sept 13th and we celebrated it the end of October....my other dd's birthday is January 22nd, and we celbrated that this year in the middle of February....go ahead and do it and have a blast!!!!

Thanks for your reply! I asked the lady who did my hotel reservations if we could get a pin for him if it wasn't actually his birthday and she said I would have to talk to the folks at each park. Hopefully they will understand that this is a rare opportunity for us!

We are fortunate that every person in our family was able to celebrate on the day of their BD. Our last trip was for my DD's 5th BD :). However, I think it's perfectly OK to celebrate a brithday when it's close. Have a great time!

You don't have to explain anything. Just go to Guest Relations at the park entrance, tell them that its your birthday and ask for the pin. They will provide it no questions asked.

It is quite fun. I had people sing to me (The Dapper Dans were the best), give me fastpasses, let me ride a ride two times without getting off, give me ice cream, etc.

The only time I had a doubt was a Cosmic Ray's. They give you a free ice cream bar if you eat there on your birthday. I explained to the server that I had already received one earlier in the week on my actual birthday day and she said no problem it's close enough and gave me another one.
