I know obviously she can at a CS restaurant and I know if we were to do a buffet or eat at Ohana, she'd be charged as an adult due to her age... but if we ended up eating at a regular sit down restaurant with a menu, would she be able to order a kid's meal? She is not a big eater at all and prefers the chicken nuggets/mac & cheese over the adult offerings. We've done the DDP the last 5 trips but this is the first time she'll be over 9 and I can't justify the DDP this time....

Thanks in advance!:goodvibes

You will have no problems ordreing off the kids menu at non bufffet restaurants. They don't ask for kids ages at any disney restaurant.

We just got back from a trip with the DDP and our 10 year old ordered off the kids menu. We just paid OOP for him and saved the credits for later meal.

I was there 2 weeks ago with my 10 year old daughter. We were asked her age at multiple places when I asked for the child's menu. I didn't lie and said she just turned 10. The only place I had a problem with was Tony's. The waitress was really rude. She told me only children up to age 9 could order off the menu but this time she would make an exception BUT I had to pay for an adult drink. She then went on about how it wouldn't be enough food for my daughter. It was and she even left food. Thankfully, this was the only time.

I just wanted to prepare the OP that you might be in a situation like I was. Also, we ate at LeCellier, Coral Reef, San Angel and SciFi on the child's menu and had no problems with servers. I paid full adult price at the buffets.

I'm 50 and I've ordered from the child's menu with no problem so I don't imagine a 10 year old will have one!

Another option to look at if she is a light eater is to order an appetizer as an entree. Or sharing a meal. My daughter and I sometimes share so that she will have room for dessert.

Were you on the ddp? That is the only time I would think they would ask for the age of a child. We have been to wdw many times and my dd would order of the kids menu till she was 12(very tall and looked older) and no ever said a thing. Of course, not at buffets and we were not on the ddp. We have not been to WDW without the ddp sine 2008, and we also always had kids menu since I have 2 younger boys, she would just order a kids meal,l no problem.

We're just back, and DD11 was asked if she wanted the kids' menu or the adult menu at Prime Time and Jiko. She ended up ordering from the adult menu both times (she got an appetizer at Jiko) and ordering dessert from the Jiko kids' menu. We paid OOP and the servers were very accommodating.

The following was the response we received March 2010 asking WDW what the "official" word was on this subject. We said we weren't talking about the DDP, buffets, or other special events.

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort. We are delighted to hear you are planning a visit!

Most of the restaurants will be happy to work with you, but we cannot speak for each one. Please inquire of the cast when you arrive at the restaurant, because we are unable to say if this is true for all of them.

We look forward to your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort and hope that your time with us is magical.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

But a young 50. :thumbsup2

My DS12 always orders from the kids menus because he is a very picky eater. If we think the server won't allow it, we let DD7 order the kids meal and DS12 orders the adult meal DD7 wants and they trade. At several buffets, the server has only charged the kid price for him after seeing what he ate.

DD is ALWAYS asked what her age is when we check in or make ressies over the phone. When we went to Khona's last weekend, she was given the option of the kid's menu or adult. She, of course, ordered the $26 steak!

My sister-in-law always orders off the child's menu, and never has a problem.
