I don't know if this is where I should post this....but, I am so upset. Our ds soccer team is considering doing the Disney Cup in July and apparently we have to book through another travel company and are not allowed to add the ddp. My family goes to WDW once a year (twice next year) and get/love the ddp. I cannot imagine going without it. I was so happy when the team announced we would be going (another reason for me to go to Disney), but after learning this I'm so disapointed...nevermind I had already told several parents all about the plan and got everyone ecxited...I'm wondering if I book 2 rooms (we 6, 2 a and 4 c)and put dh and ds in one room, if I can still get myself and 3 of the kids the ddp...at least it will be like paying for only 2 people oop??

What you are considering with adding a second room will NOT work. Only your DH would be elligible for the dining plan. You couldn't not add you and or the children.
Besides, wouldn't that negate the purpose of saving money on the DDP? But either way, WDW won't allow it.

I am wondering if it is the convience of just having your meals taken care of that you are missing?? If so you could consider putting the food money on gift cards and carry that. Pretend it is your "dining card". THat would make it convient.

It is unfortunate that you cannot get the dining plan this go around, but you will still get to enjoy WDW.

Since you're booking as part of a group, I'd be hesitant to do this if you want your 2 rooms to be near each other. One reservation will be part of the group which I'm assuming they'll keep together and the other will be completely unrelated. You could probably request to be placed with the group but you'll have a great chance of being together if you've booked both rooms through the group reservation.

What lots of people do in order to get the pre-paid aspect of the plan is to put the cost of the dining plan on a Gift Card. Then you just order as you would on the dining plan (or as you really want if you're typically ordering food that you normally wouldn't want; I know I tend to order desserts that I'm too full to eat just because I get it included with my meal) and pay using the GC.

Generally when you travel as one of these groups you receive better rates on rooms and tickets which tends to save more money than you would with the dining plan. Also, our experience was that it was really hard to do a lot of "Disney" during AAU basketball nationals due to game times. Until you see their schedule a few weeks before you go you would not even know when you would be able to eat and probably would have a hard time getting reservations for table service. Have a great trip!

Yeah, this might be a good time to just take what you would have spent on DDP and put it on a gift card, so you can still have the pre-paid convenience.

You need to book a WDTC package in order to get a dining plan. (With the few usual exceptions (DVC on points, WDTC AP ticketless packages...)
