After the family arrived, we had pretty much a half a day to spend together. It's not really any one thing in particular that we did that sticks out, except for dinner.
First, let me say that I was so happy to have my Dad there. The last time my Dad was in Disney was about six years ago, when I was pregnant with my son, so to have him there was just awesome. And it's not because it's particularly his thing, or because he's super stoked or anything, but it's because he's my daddy, and I'm his baby, and he went to Disney to celebrate my 30th birthday. And for a man who would rather spend vacations in Vegas, the fact that he's willing to go to Disney for me really speaks volumes. Plus, my Dad really brings a balance to the group that doesn't exist when he's not there. It's almost like tempers don't flare as much with my Dad around, but that's a whole other ball of wax.
We all went to dinner that night at The Captain's Grille in the Yacht Club. We were looking for a resort that was close to DHS/Epcot, because we'd plan to hit one of those parks before dinner, and we also wanted something that was 1 TS.
I can honestly say that this dinner was just an wonderful, unexpected surprise. My son was well behaved. Heck, all the adults were well behaved.

I had some kind of fruity glow drink, and that was lots of fun. Everyone was really pleased with their dinners, and our server was amazing! He was specifically assigned to large groups and let me tell you, he did fantastic with ours.
I was even more impressed by the fact that he never wrote anything down. Not a thing, and he remembered everything we asked for. My Dad and I were joking that he had a hidden tape recorder.
I loved my dinner. How many places can you go on Disney property and get crab legs for 1 TS? They were perfect, succulent crab legs, and I was in heaven. It took me a while to crack the shells and eat them, and I sort of apologized to everyone for taking so long. Nana was still eating as well, and my FIL looked at me and said something to the effect of don't apologize, just enjoy yourself.
And I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this dinner, and it wasn't just about the food, and the great service, although that certainly does help. It was about having all these people, this core family group with me in my favorite happy place. Mom, Nana, Dad, and FIL are the people that always come to every holiday. They're the people that will bend over backwards to help you, that will do whatever they can to ensure your happiness. Of course we have all our little family dramas, what family doesn't? But if you're in the thick of it, these are the people who have got your back.
And who better to share a meal with? Who better to share a trip with, really, other than the people that are always there for you?
That's what I was reflecting on as well just laughed, ate, and had a good time.
