Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate - *Update 9-17* P60

Hey TK!!! I'm back and all caught up!!! I loved reading about your Practically Perfect Day because it reminds me so much of the time I have spent with Tom and Megs down there on our own!!! SO wonderful!

Hate hearing that DS started getting sick---here's to hoping that in all the busyness, a little fun is had too!!! ;)

NOT a TMI dump AT.ALL!!

Thanks for letting us know why it's so hard and how close you are to being overwhelmed- if in fact, you're not already there. Since you're staying at your apt., do you REALLY need the $$?? If not, why not take a few months off- or are you just trying to hang in there until the baby is born??

Thanks for the support. It means so much to me, it really does.

I'm actually the carrier of our health insurance. Therefore, in order to continue...well, having health insurance, I need to try to work right up until my FMLA, so that I will have a job protected, health insurance covered leave. I would love nothing more than to quit and devote all my time to being mom, but as of right now (or until the doctor says so) it's just not a possibility.

We are going to start banking my paycheck in an attempt to save more money before the baby is born. Hopefully that'll give us even more of a cushion in case something happens to me and we have COBRA our insurance or go private or something like that.

HI!!! Happy to have you back. :goodvibes

I was afraid that was the case. Do you have to keep a certain number of hours to maintain coverage?? No way to step down to really half time?? Say 20 hours a week??

I just feel sick for you! :guilty:

Hi, hon. You're so sweet, and thank you. I really appreciate the concern, and I am feeling the love. :lovestruc

Right now, I need to maintain my 25 hour a week status in order to qualify for FMLA. For the state that I live in, this is over the annual hours worked requirement, and I'm erring on the side of caution. Twenty hours a week would truly be more ideal...in all reality, if I got the branch to consider it, or went to another branch I know if, it would cut me down to a three day work week, which would be awesome...I lost my train of thought. LOL Twenty would be great, and it's something I am seriously considering for after the baby is born. I get to take 16 weeks of unpaid leave under FMLA and I intend to take them all. I figure this will give me a good idea of how I feel about staying at home, and whether or not it's feasible or if we need my income.

I won't lie though. I have seriously thought about a major life change, whether it's going back to school or making a career change. I think something needs to be different, but I may feel differently about that after the baby comes! :lmao:

Oh, I forgot to mention, 20 hours is the minimum to maintain coverage, so really, that could be ideal.

After the family arrived, we had pretty much a half a day to spend together. It's not really any one thing in particular that we did that sticks out, except for dinner.

First, let me say that I was so happy to have my Dad there. The last time my Dad was in Disney was about six years ago, when I was pregnant with my son, so to have him there was just awesome. And it's not because it's particularly his thing, or because he's super stoked or anything, but it's because he's my daddy, and I'm his baby, and he went to Disney to celebrate my 30th birthday. And for a man who would rather spend vacations in Vegas, the fact that he's willing to go to Disney for me really speaks volumes. Plus, my Dad really brings a balance to the group that doesn't exist when he's not there. It's almost like tempers don't flare as much with my Dad around, but that's a whole other ball of wax.

We all went to dinner that night at The Captain's Grille in the Yacht Club. We were looking for a resort that was close to DHS/Epcot, because we'd plan to hit one of those parks before dinner, and we also wanted something that was 1 TS.

I can honestly say that this dinner was just an wonderful, unexpected surprise. My son was well behaved. Heck, all the adults were well behaved. :lmao: I had some kind of fruity glow drink, and that was lots of fun. Everyone was really pleased with their dinners, and our server was amazing! He was specifically assigned to large groups and let me tell you, he did fantastic with ours.

I was even more impressed by the fact that he never wrote anything down. Not a thing, and he remembered everything we asked for. My Dad and I were joking that he had a hidden tape recorder.

I loved my dinner. How many places can you go on Disney property and get crab legs for 1 TS? They were perfect, succulent crab legs, and I was in heaven. It took me a while to crack the shells and eat them, and I sort of apologized to everyone for taking so long. Nana was still eating as well, and my FIL looked at me and said something to the effect of don't apologize, just enjoy yourself.

And I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this dinner, and it wasn't just about the food, and the great service, although that certainly does help. It was about having all these people, this core family group with me in my favorite happy place. Mom, Nana, Dad, and FIL are the people that always come to every holiday. They're the people that will bend over backwards to help you, that will do whatever they can to ensure your happiness. Of course we have all our little family dramas, what family doesn't? But if you're in the thick of it, these are the people who have got your back.

And who better to share a meal with? Who better to share a trip with, really, other than the people that are always there for you?

That's what I was reflecting on as well just laughed, ate, and had a good time.

That sounds like a delightful dinner. Good tip on Captain's Grille too. I've never heard much about it so it's nice to know that it's good food. :goodvibes

I was looking forward to this review!

CG didn't make the top 7 with my gang's rating system (but did top 10) and I've actually decided to override them and swap out one that did make it (BRG) for CG. Really looking forward to it.

It sounds like it was just a lovely lovely evening all around. :thumbsup2

I hope our grand gathering there will be just as special and I know I'll be thinking of your wonderful large family dinner experience while we are there.

I have to tell you, every single person in my party was happy with their dinner. And with my group, that's a HUGE deal. :lmao:

Dinner was amazing! I totally wish I could remember the name of our waiter, he was sooo good. :goodvibes

It's moments like the one you described at the Captain's Grill that makes all the drama worthwhile. :goodvibes

Like LL said, good tip on CG -- I never really think about it.

Sounds like a great time!!! We enjoyed our meal too, but I didn't care for my entree. That didn't matter though because the rest of the experience was GREAT!!!!

I love Captain's Grille, and so disgusted with myself that I skipped here to go to Yachtsman in December.

Great update and even greater that your ds was so well-behaved. Especially since he had been sick.

What a bummer on your entree, but I'm glad you had a good experience otherwise. :thumbsup2

I really think part of it was the novelty of having his grandparents there. Too much fun, in his mind! :goodvibes

Hi TK..

sorry I got a bit behind in your TR...so I just read the last three chapters...and I love it...not to sound sappy or like a Hallmark card...but your writing is just so sincere and really captures the magic and love you experienced and shared on the trip.

I love how you just sat and at jelly beans, your wonderful family dinner and even the story about the emergency asthma med...I can realte to that I have asthma and vividly recall the trip I forgot the portable neb machine. Good job Mama and what a trooper DS probably was taking an inhaler

looking forward to more.

I finally got all caught up on your TR. And let me just say that I love your writing style. It puts a big smile on my face. Thank you so much for sharing your special memories with us!

Your yummy snacks all throughout the MK are making me hungry! How fun that you all just snacked your way through the Kingdom. :thumbsup2 And your pause in front of Tony's sounds incredible. It's the little things that make a vacation so special. And even though I'm sure it wasn't fun running around taking care of "life" stuff, it's great that your DH and DS were able to have bonding time. Lastly, I'm happy that you had such a good dinner with your family. It's so true--that core group of family is what really counts. How great that you could be on vacation with each other, and take time to relax and have a calm dinner together. :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to reading more!

You know, it's comments like these that make me want to keep writing this trip report. Honestly.

Thank you. :goodvibes

It certainly was an eventful trip and it had only just begun!

I'm looking forward to reading more!

I look forward to recreating that Magic Kingdom day at some point, hopefully this time, with a new baby in tow.

It really is that little pause in front of Tony's that makes it so memorable and stand out so much. I can't remember what order we went on what rides unless I look at my notes, but I can remember that we ended the day with that lovely moment.

How nice that your dad went to spend your 30th with you!
Now, I think I have to try Captain's Grille.

I just wanted to let you know that I am still reading along. I don't have time to comment much I am still here. My work hours are changing for the better so hopefully I will be able to comment more. I am going to go look at CG menu, it sounds really good.

It was really nice!

I think you'd enjoy this restaurant, and if you're going with the fam, it's a great place to bring a big crew. :thumbsup2

I'm glad to know you're reading along, hon! I understand about not having a lot of time to devote to extras, believe me. Just happy to hear from you. :goodvibes

Just wanted to say that I'm still here, and still loving your updates! I think I mentioned before that I was cutting back on my DIS time, so I may not always comment, but I'm here. :)

No problem! I've cut back a lot as well, so I'm just glad I still have readers. :goodvibes
