Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate - *Update 9-17* P60

I am feeling better. I say that with the utmost of tentativeness because a couple of days ago, I was feeling absolutely wretched with morning, noon, and night sickness. More morning and noon, but you get the idea.

I think I've settled into a better pattern of eating which has helped, and I've also tried to get more sleep. Certain things keep waking me up and then I can't go back to sleep. Never mind the urge to visit the bathroom five times a night but the whether or not to take a weekend trip to Disney with Mom before the bean is born (should I really be spending the money on that), whether or not we're going to move out of our apartment and buy a house or condo, which town we want to live in.

Good lord. Life shouldn't be so complicated, but it is.

So let's, shall we, go back to a simpler time, when the only quest on our minds was the search for tacos.

Being that this was a DS sort of day, and we were feeling like generous parents, we asked him what he wanted to eat for lunch.

Tacos.

Okie dokie.

We head off to Adventureland, but no dice. The pirate dining facility is a no go, as it's not open. I swear, this is becoming almost comical with me, and I really didn't mind, with the exception that DS wanted tacos. (The last time I tried to go somewhere besides Casey's on our last trip, i.e. CHH, it was closed too.)

We headed over to Frontierland thinking, don't they have some kind of taco salad at Pecos Bill's?

They do.

But that's not what DS wanted. We know this because we showed him the picture on the menu and he said no way.

Well, he didn't so no way, but you get the idea. And he wasn't really cranky about it, it just wasn't what he was looking for.

Hmph.

We headed back over to Adventureland...don't ask me why...some siren call perhaps where low and behold, what to my wondering eyes did appear?

Captain Jack Sparrow in the middle of a rousing Pirate Tutorial!

Well, I had to stop and watch. Obviously.

And somehow, in all my zealous photo taking, I lost my boys. Technically, I didn't really lose them. DH took DS over to the other side of the tutorial so he could see better, as my son loves him some Jack Sparrow.

Who's surprised?

I was drooling...I mean watching...because this was the good Jack. I got some okay shots, but the one I wanted so badly, the one where he was almost close enough to touch, a gentleman with a follicley challenged head ducked right into my picture, right in front of my Jack!

ZZUB was that you? ;)

At any rate, I didn't discover that until I got home, or they would have been more photos.

So while I lost my family, I ended up chatting with a very nice janitorial CM. She was doing her thing, sweeping up and we just struck up a conversation. She was so nice, and it was so nice of her to stop and talk with me. She told me that's one of her favorite things about her job. Unfortunately her name escapes me, but she really loved being in Disney, working in a place she loved, and getting to meet all different kinds of people.

As a matter of fact, she met a lovely family a few weeks prior. They stayed in the castle with their little girl, and at the time, she had no idea who they were. Although the CMs are instructed to treat celebrities as they would any other guest, she didn't find out until later that she'd met Tom, Katie, and Suri.

Can you imagine? I just think that's so neat.

Eventually, the boys located me, since I had moved back from the Tutorial crowd so I could watch Jack run past when it was over (said she who was no fool).

Now, what is a hungry family to do?

What do you feed the child who really just wanted some tacos???

Well, a Dole Whip, of course!

Hey, we were right there. And you know what? I wanted to spoil the kid a little bit before the grandparents got there and started stealing my thunder. :lmao: So yes. We had dessert before lunch, and it was dang good.

I had the pineapple Dole Whip float, and I think DS had plain vanilla. All in all, we were some happy campers.

I mean, who doesn't love dessert first on vacation?

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope it continues!

A weekend trip with your Mom, you say? Hmmm...I would say that this sounds like a good idea since you won't be back for awhile after the baby is born. A last hurrah sort of thing -- not to mention that you could stock up on some cute Disney baby things while you are down there. ;)

No tacos, but Jack and a Dole Whip sounds like a fair exchange to me! :rotfl: Did DS connect the Jack he was seeing to the Jack in the movies he has watched? What a shame you weren't able to capture a good shot of our favorite pirate.

Me, too!

A weekend trip with your Mom, you say? Hmmm...I would say that this sounds like a good idea since you won't be back for awhile after the baby is born. A last hurrah sort of thing -- not to mention that you could stock up on some cute Disney baby things while you are down there. ;)

And that Disney Dooney and Bourke bag. :rotfl2:

Mom really wants to go with me, but a lot of this hinges into whether or not we purchase a home. This town we've been living in for the past eight years is absolutely wonderful. I love it here.

But, their kindergarten program is half days, and they don't offer before and after school care. The only offer after school care if the child is in afternoon kindergarten. Other than that, you have to pick a day care in your school district. I called and priced it out, and three days a week (I work Wed - Sat) is considered full time.

Flat out? We can't afford it. Which is a shame, because I love it here, and the school system is excellent.

Enter the next town over, the one I work in. It's also a great town, with some really nice neighborhoods. Keeping in mind I grew up around here, it wasn't my dream to live in this town, but since I've been working in it for the past four years, I've really gotten to know the town and the community and I do like it. The school system is not rated as high, but they offer before and after care for the kindergarteners for a pittance. It's also a continued curriculum run by the kindergarten teachers, so I consider that to be a huge plus. Depending on what part of town we're in, we'd be much closer to my parents, so it would be easier on me if they're helping when the baby comes. Plus, I happen to love the preschool my DS is in, which is also in this town.

It seems like a clear cut decision, but it's really not. Do I really want to spend the money on a house or a condo right now? Or do I just want to try to make it work over here.

Will I even want to work after the baby comes? Will I reduce my hours? We have too many up in the air variables that I am tempted to wash my hands of all of it.

Did I also mention that I hate moving?

Well, not to a new place thing, but I hate packing and moving. It stinks.

No tacos, but Jack and a Dole Whip sounds like a fair exchange to me! :rotfl: Did DS connect the Jack he was seeing to the Jack in the movies he has watched? What a shame you weren't able to capture a good shot of our favorite pirate.

You know what, I'm not really sure if he equates the two. We've let him watch a little bit of the first movie, but parts of it are so violent, I hesitate to let him see the whole thing, and I know the second one would scare the you know what out of him. :rotfl2: Don't want the kid to have nightmares!

And it's okay about the picture.

Because I got some great pictures of my own Jack Sparrow later. ;)

I say if you can swing a trip with your Mom before your little bean is born then you should do it. :thumbsup2 Have I told you that I love that you call the baby bean? Hehehe.

Mmmmm...tacos. That sounds excellent. Now I want those for dinner tonight. :rotfl:

My bet is that you end up at Casey's!

Glad you're starting to feel a little better. Are you busting out of your clothes yet? It happens soo much faster with the second (& third) baby.
I totally agree with you on moving - it's the WORST. We put an addition on our house a couple of years ago, mostly because I absolutely refuse to ever move again. I'm dying in this house. That's how much I hate moving.
As far as the school system goes, my town doesn't have the "best" schools, like the town next door. but I wouldn't trade them for the world. The teachers and administrators are sooo wonderful, they more than make up for any top of the line test scores. And you are in Massachusetts, too, so you'll be hearing alot about MCAS scores. Some school systems, that's all they care about. Too much pressure on kids, if you ask me. What counts is how much care goes into their learning, and my kids have never had a bad teacher. (ok - there is one, but really just one).
Nice update! We weren't in the MK that day, so it wasn't my follically challenged DH blocking your picture, Whew. (I miss ZZUB, too, he was such a great read!) We never did come across the pirate tutorial, sadly. I'm sure it was fun. And if you can't eat dessert first in Disney World, when can you?:goodvibes

Glad you are feeling better my dear!!!!

MY those are some big decisions to make----to go to WDW or not, to move or not......I don't envy you!!!! Those are the things that make me want to stick my head in the sand and hope they pass!!! Try not to stress yourself out about them too much---everything will all work out as it is meant to be!!! BUT if you do decide to move, I am an OCD FREAK about moving and packing and unpacking.....would love to come help!!! ;) Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I too vote that Casey's is in store for the three of you!!! Do we know you or what?!?!?!?

A Dole Whip float sounds like an excellent lunch to me. In fact I asked DH for one last night!

A weekend trip with your mom sounds like a fantastic idea :thumbsup2

It's my little jelly bean, but I call it bean for short. :lmao:

Mmmmm...tacos. That sounds excellent. Now I want those for dinner tonight. :rotfl:

It's possible that I had Taco Bell for lunch. Who thinks my post this morning had something to do with that craving? :lmao:

My bet is that you end up at Casey's!

Well, we are running out of CS options! :rotfl2:

Glad you're starting to feel a little better. Are you busting out of your clothes yet? It happens soo much faster with the second (& third) baby.

Short answer yes. Long answer, not quite. I'm wearing a size bigger than what I normally do, and to me, they're uncomfortable at the end of the day. I refuse to go another size up, because it's really just my stomach, everything else would be swimming on me. I've got some new maternity pants that are a little too big still (I know I won't have that complaint much longer), and my DH is going to retrieve my old maternity clothes from our storage unit, so I'm really looking forward to getting those out and seeing what fits.

But yes, my stomach is definitely exhibiting a round quality that it normally does not.

And it's not bloating. There's a baby in there! Kind of exciting. :lmao:

I can identify. We actually don't live in MA, but we're in New England. I think every state has their own standardized testing the push for though. And you know what, if you have good teachers, that's all that matters. It's part of that and part of what you make of the experience.

Thanks! We had a really good time this day. As you can see, it's dragging on my trip report.

Glad you are feeling better my dear!!!!

Thank you. I'm hoping it lasts! I was even in a good mood at work today instead of just getting through it. :thumbsup2

Oh, I may take you up on that help my dear. Don't offer if you don't want to be my moving slave! :lmao:

I know things will work out and that my main focus right now should just be this family, and growing myself a healthy baby. Everything else will fall into place. Thank god I have my DH to keep my level headed, I swear these hormones are making me crazy.

I too vote that Casey's is in store for the three of you!!! Do we know you or what?!?!?!?

It is possible that we ate there.

A Dole Whip float sounds like an excellent lunch to me. In fact I asked DH for one last night!

It's one of the foods I miss most when I think of Disney.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could just instill a Dole Whip dispenser in our kitchens?

A weekend trip with your mom sounds like a fantastic idea :thumbsup2

We'll see. It's a great idea, but time will tell.

Dessert before lunch sounds wonderful, especially in the MK :goodvibes

Which is one of the best places to do that, I think.

Dessert for a main meal? Only in Disney is that viewed as okay, lol. I love it!

Pretty much, yeah.

Actually, dessert was technically our appetizer. :lmao:

You can never go wrong stopping and watching some gorgeous Jack!!! Definitely can't go wrong!!

I have to say I think you should spoil yourself and head down there for a weekend with your mom before your little "bean" arrives!!!

Hmmm dole whip for dessert before lunch sounds good!!!

My guess is you end up at Casey's LOL!

Every meal would be better with a Dole Whip appetizer! Yum!

A weekend with your mom at Disney sounds lovely. As long as you can take it easy and pamper yourself, I'd say go for it.

I hate moving, too; but honestly I'd say finding a school where you feel comfortable is the most important thing. If you want your DS to go to Kindy in your town, I'd go to the school and ask them for suggestions about after school care. I have confidence you'll make the right decision. Listen to your heart and your intuition.

I don't know why, but I thought you were in Massachusetts too. :confused3
Glad to hear you're still hangin in there, energywise. You're just about out of the woods, I bet. Then you can enjoy the superwoman trimester!

My guess is that you end up at Casey's! :goodvibes Which really isn't a bad thing...:rolleyes1

You've got a lot of decision stuff going on....! A weekend trip would be lovely, but it's always so hard to factor in the whole money-thing. Perhaps if you opt not to buy a home right now, you could use your tax return for the trip? :confused3

What PLANET is this woman from???!......WHO doesn't recognize Tom Cruise??!!!??....at least??!!!!:scared1:

I mean, who doesn't love dessert first on vacation?

....

It's vacation. You're actually required to have dessert first. Which apparently hasn't caught on yet at the TS restaurants...:confused3

.

I so got to have one of the Dole Whips...

I think I am one of the few Disers who hasn't partaked of a Dole Whip or ate LC in Canada :rotfl:

love that he wanted tacos...hope you found some!

and can't wait to see the pictures of your Jack!

You can never go wrong stopping and watching some gorgeous Jack!!! Definitely can't go wrong!!

Indeed. Yum.

I have to say I think you should spoil yourself and head down there for a weekend with your mom before your little "bean" arrives!!!

Well, a home purchase would put a damper on this, so we'll see. :lmao:

Hmmm dole whip for dessert before lunch sounds good!!!

I highly recommend dessert before lunch. Is a Dole Whip on your list for this trip? If so, eat it before your main course! Go all TK!!! :rotfl2:

Every meal would be better with a Dole Whip appetizer! Yum!

Have truer words every been spoken?

It's not a bad idea to call the Board of Ed and see what options they think are viable. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't know why, but I thought you were in Massachusetts too. :confused3
Glad to hear you're still hangin in there, energywise. You're just about out of the woods, I bet. Then you can enjoy the superwoman trimester!

That's okay. Normally, I spend me time on the Black Pearl, but the internet connection can be terrible. Especially near the Isla de Muerta.

Anyhoo, I can't wait for the superwoman trimester. Literally, my favorite part of pregnancy.:thumbsup2

My guess is that you end up at Casey's! :goodvibes Which really isn't a bad thing...:rolleyes1

Casey's has never been a bad thing for me. I'm telling you, hot dogs just taste better there. It is a proven, Magic Kingdom fact.

You've got a lot of decision stuff going on....! A weekend trip would be lovely, but it's always so hard to factor in the whole money-thing. Perhaps if you opt not to buy a home right now, you could use your tax return for the trip? :confused3

In the past I have done this, and it's not an option this year. Our tax return is pretty much slated for my medical bills. My work has switched to HSA accounts with higher deductible plans, so I need to have the money set aside for the amount that won't be covered. I so can't wait to hit my max out of pocket cost. That'll be refreshing if it comes before the hospital bill for the baby.:thumbsup2

I figured we were due for an honorary ZZUB reference.

What PLANET is this woman from???!......WHO doesn't recognize Tom Cruise??!!!??....at least??!!!!:scared1:

She said they just looked like a very nice family. :goodvibes

At some point, I am going to have to go into a restaurant and do this.

I so got to have one of the Dole Whips...

No Dole Whips for you yet? I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I really enjoy the Dole Whip Pineappe Float. It's a pineapple dole whip with pineapple juice. (Sorry if you already knew that, I just wanted to explain just in case) Some people find that to be too sweet though, whereas I think it's extremely refreshing on a hot day. I believe the also have vanilla and chocolate. Someday I'm going to try those, but I love the pineapple so much, I always end up getting that. :lmao:

TK Wrote: Wouldn't it be awesome if we could just instill a Dole Whip dispenser in our kitchens?

You do realize that I have looked into this before!

Dessert first?

No way.

It's FRUIT!

That was an appetizer!

Hope you find Tacos......

VERY glad you are feeling better, if only temporarily!

Were you booked already for that trip with your mom? I remember it being on the table but not if it had official dates and rooms and such!

Lots of exciting things happening and to think about in the TK house it sounds like!
