Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate - *Update 9-17* P60

Rose and Crown is a lovely place to eat and gaze at the view! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there last June! That hard cider looks delicious! Now, I want some for tomorrow. :rotfl:

I love your relaxed, easygoing attitude on your first day! I am still feeling quite peaceful while reading your updates! I hope the entire trip was like that for you! :goodvibes

I'm so glad you enjoyed Rose & Crown. It's such a wonderful place to eat in my opinion. Very yummy. :goodvibes

Yummy update!!

I am so sorry it was so hot...

But it sounds like you made the best of a pretty crummy situation!

Oooh! Sticky Toffee Pudding!

That sounds amazing.

R&C is on my list for the kids to look through. I LOVE the atmosphere but have a hard time getting excited about the menu (not that I dislike it mind you) but every review is just lovely! it will be interesting to see what the clan thinks about it.

I love go with the flowness....but a scheduled respite (hot and sticky as it may have been) can be just what the doctor ordered sometimes. I feel for your server with the glasses. I used to wear contacts and no longer can. I'm grateful my eyes are decent enough that I can just go without most of the time as that fogging up thing is the WORST! She sounds lovely. What nice evening!

I've never tried Rose and Crown...but it surely sounds yummy! I'm glad you were able to just laugh about everything instead of letting it dampen (literally ;) ) your night. Wonderful memories!

Seems like your "sticky" situations turned out just fine. harharhar!

:lmao:

I tried to get an ADR that weekend for R&C....all I could have gotten was like 3pm, maybe next trip.

I actually lucked into this reservation. I just kept checking, and eventually, snagged one.

You know, I have never eaten at the Rose & Crown.... And I'm not quite sure why that is. I love the whole pub deal! I think we only really began to truly discover the UK at Epcot last year, so maybe that's it. Putting it on my mental list of future eateries.:thumbsup2

I actually have never eaten there because every time I wanted to book it on a big family trip, I kept thinking...there are only five (or is it six) entrees to chose from. This will never fly. :lmao:

Are we still on your first day??! Wow! This is gonna a be long ride!:rotfl2: But I'll be along for every moment.:goodvibes

.

We are still on my first day. I think two more posts will wrap up day one nicely.:thumbsup2

I love hearing all the accents too. It's one of those things I love about NYC too.

Yes, I agree!

R&C sounds really good. I had wanted to try it this trip, but my friend really had no interest. Next trip definitely.

Definitely put it on the Disney to do list.

That's what I hate most when I wear my glasses. Always makes me think of when I worked at a fast food restaurant back in high school. Everytime I'd open up a steam drawer my glasses would fog up. :rotfl:

I feel inspired to song...

ahemahemahemah...

"MEMORIESSSSS!!!!" :lmao:

Loved the update TK!!

I am a firm believer that life (and how much you enjoy it) is 90% attitude... and you and yours have AWESOME attitudes!!

Love how you made a H-O-T and wet and sticky day (that probably turned plenty of vacationers on their EARS!!)...into a perfect and wonderful day and memory!!

You rock!

Paula

Life is so what you make it. And I could have totally flipped out over our lack of luck or I could have looked at it for what it was. Something that would only happen to us, and yet turned out to be a pretty darn nice meal.

Oooo, I love hard cider. It was one of my most favorite parts of my trip to the British Isles. I think a stop-over at the R&C might go over quite well in December. I'll have to mention that to my traveling companion! With all the names of drinks I'm writing down, I think I'm coming perilously close to the idea of "drinking around the world..."

Oh, gosh, it is soooo easy to drink around the world. So many yummy drinks, so little time.

This is one of the places I was contemplating trying on my solo days, but alas, those may be out. Ah well, another time. I admit, you have me drooling.... Amazing sounding food!!

Nope we can't all look good all the time, but I'll bet that that Disney glow you had made up for any "sticky" thang you had going. ;)

Ah, yes. From here on out, perspiration of any sort shall be referred to as "my Disney glow." ;)

I've thought of Rose and Crown, but never took the plunge, so to speak. Maybe someday I will.

You should go just to have the sticky toffee pudding. Is your whole solo trip planned out? Let me rearrange it for you. :lmao:

I know how you love your Rose and Crown! I actually recommended a Welsh Dragon to the woman at the table behind us because she was undecided on her drink, and I thought, well, CP likes it. :thumbsup2

I remember how much you'd liked it. I'm so glad we ate there.

OMG. The sticky toffee pudding was so many kinds of delightful buttery tasting goodness it makes my mouth water. Watch out keyboard!

We did have a really nice evening, and you're right, sometimes a little break is needed.

I've never tried Rose and Crown...but it surely sounds yummy! I'm glad you were able to just laugh about everything instead of letting it dampen (literally ;) ) your night. Wonderful memories!

Dampen. Well, I guess I set myself up for that, huh? ;)

Look at all the people who have never tried Rose and Crown! Go! Get thee to thy fine English pub! :goodvibes

Yum, what a great dinner! Glad you enjoyed!

It was so good, thanks.

I was wistfully thinking of that Welsh Dragon while I was reading your update! :goodvibes

Hope she liked it!

Hey! I know this is supposed to be trip related, but how you doing? I just got done making pumpkin pie, pumpkin whoopie pies (from scratch, still need homemade frosting), a blue cheese spread for our celery, and my sweet potato casserole (will get baked tomorrow). I am pooped, and my kitchen is a dang mess.

So now I am avoiding cleaning it by DISing.

Perhaps I should write another TR chapter.

See? See, that's related. :lmao:

Hi! I'm good -- Chelsea and I went to see New Moon today and liked it, and the pecan pie is made. My green bean casserole and Indian Corn casserole can wait until tomorrow. I started reading Whitney, My Love, and I am headed right back to it when I am done on the DIS boards.

So...how did the pumpkin whoopie pies turn out? Did you try one without the frosting yet?

I definitely think a TR chapter would be a great way to procrastinate, and it would make all of us happy!

LOL, I made final touches on my itinerary today. And I got my Mickey Mail! :)

Anywho, may next time I'll do R&C. I think it's the lack of variety in the entres that gets me every time. Maybe some other time. . .I still am trying to fit Citricos in and can't get it in there. . .

Oh, that book is sooooo good. Remember to have a fan handy for certain parts, 'kay? ;) And maybe some kleenex as well. God, I love a good roller coaster of a book, don't you?

Indian Corn casserole? Sounds yummy.

I haven't tried one yet. I should make the ultimate sacrifice and taste test at least one, don't you think? :lmao:

If photobucket would cooperate, I could probably wrap up the first day. :thumbsup2

YAY! I love Mickey Mail.

Bummer on Citricos. It's a great restaurant.

Oh, I can't wait. I have just started it, and she is in Paris right now!

Indian Corn casserole? Sounds yummy.

Found it on the Family Fun website and it's the first time I am trying it. I hope it is edible!

Yes, yes, you should! ;)

Mmm...the beginning...

That is too funny, my pumpkin whoopie pie recipe is from that site, too!

Yes, yes, you should! ;)

Well, wouldn't you know I had an odd number of whoopie pie halves?

Darn.

And let me just say, not to pat myself too much on the back here, but WOW. I did good. :lmao:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving. Happy Turkey Day! :goodvibes

Hi TK!!

Phew! Thanksgiving is over for me, and those 3! pieces of pie and sitting quite nicely in my quite full tummy! Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving Day full of family and fun, and well, thankfulness!

Enjoy!

Liesa

Definitely stick with the Lodge. It's an awesome place to stay.

I can't remember, is it just you and your hubby going?

Sorry I haven't been around to answer you. Training is finally done so now I am on my regular schedule so I should have Dis time now. No we are going to bring Alexia now. I can't wait she will love it. Now I am having a hard time deciding if we should leave our trip where it is or move it to May.

All caught up... finally!

Love your go big or go home vacation philosophy. I agree with you - I am looking for a bit of pampering when on vacation and definitely bigger beds!

Do you have a next trip planned? :rolleyes1

How cool that your son (who is SO adorable, by the way) was into riding the rides and navigating through the parks this trip. He gets it! :yay:

Isn't Rose and Crown the bestest? And I'm with you. I am a sucker for accents. :upsidedow

Looking forward to more! popcorn::
