Ok, yes that thread was definitely interesting, however I have a kinda important question as well..............
So I need some input, currently I am "just an administrative staff...... with no power, lowest man on the totem pole" Well I have an opportunity to run against my current boss, who is in an elected position. Her first term she fell into as a result of death, and no one to run against her.
This time no one is challenging her as well, and I the main reason I want to run is because the office needs change. Currently when I do my work by protocol or laws I always get reemed, especially when I try to recify the problems. When she is in the office, the corruption doesnt really happen, but when she is gone there is no holds barred with the other management staff.
I know I cant change the world, but I am very proactive, have a strong work ethic and an college education working on a post graduate education currently. This is a pretty posh job, an elected official with the main crieria being a resident of the county. In comparision, she has on the job experience. Any thoughts? I am just really considering I need to decide and file by the end of the week,
The reason I am so conflicted, because I went to her and pretty much exposed the truth, even though she had heard I was considering running, but blew it off. I was honest, that I was still on the fence, and not totally leaning one way or the other. She acted betrayed, which I find amazing b/c I was honest and up front, even though throughout the time i have been in her office i have never really been respected, but treated pretty crappy, even though today, she admitted that my work product and ethic are excellent and everything I do is in the best interest of the office. I have never gone against anything, every time something comes up even if it is our mistake, I back the office and apologize profusely and immediately address the concern.
I am now just wondering if I dont run, or I do, did I shoot myself in the foot? And am I going to be penalized for being honest and up front? I am not sure, but ironically after our conversation the entire managment team disappeared for 15 mins. Any thoughts>?
It is a female, sorry for the confusion
