(not a DVC member) Question about researching DVC

I am not a DVC member, but after our trip to WDW last week, I am VERY interested in the DVC. DH on the other hand...well, he needs some work.

Last week we stayed off site for 3 nights at one of those off-site time share places and we listened to their "90 minute" (more like 3 hours) schpeal about their time share program. We KNEW going into it that we were just there for information and not to buy. After those 3 nights, we stayed at the Contemporary (thank you Shades of Green) and agreed that there is no other way to go than on site.

I am VERY interested in DVC and I really am going to have to work on DH. Now, we had a deal with the off-site timeshare place where we got a vacation package for a steal as long as we listened to their 90 minute deal. It allowed us to get a feel for their property.

So does Disney (DVC) do anything like that? Do they offer little "try us out" packages to get people to buy? Something tells me that they don't since DVC and WDW sell itself. Just wondering though.

DVC has in the past made such offers. We used a substantially reduced rate at AKL to look at DVC. But they do not do this all that often. There is a pre-opening offer at SSR for a $10 discount on the per point price. There is a minimum 150 point purchase for new members. Based on past experience, that is about as good a deal that will be offered.

If you are interested call DVC and ask for an information packet. A guide will be assigned to you. It really is no pressure. Our guide, Byron, returned calls promptly, even when he was on holiday. We had many very lengthy calls as he explained the DVC program and answered our endless questions.

You can also frequent these boards for information. We learned a lot from here and the DIS members tend to be very generous in sharing their experience and knowledge.

So ask away and good luck :)

The number that JimC mentioned to call is 1-800-800-9100. Just ask for the free video and information packet.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask right here! :)

Enjoy!
