I am getting a message that my trial subscription for Norton's Antivirus has expired. My question is should I subscribe to the software online, or purchase the software to download myself? Should I use something else to protect my files? Thanks.

I'm just guessing here, but isn't it cheaper to just subscribe online? Especially if you already have it installed.

I have Norton and love it. Had McAfee, but got a virus that shut everything down. I just subscribe when they tell me I need to.

If you have liked Norton, I would just subscribe, but make sure you keep up to date with Live Update, always. A good alternative, IMO, is Panda.

I'm using the free version of AVG Anti-Virus on one computer, and a free version of Computer Associates eTrust EZ Armor security suite (firewall, antivirus, and anti-spam) provided by my cable ISP (RoadRunner) on the other one; you might want to check to see if your ISP might have a deal like this...

I always sign up on-line - never had any problems to date.

The only thing I don't like is that I you get subscription reminders way too early.

If you like Norton, I say go for the subscription online.
If you don't like it, like me... I got Norton but it was interfering with some of my programs so I took it out. Like Buckylarue, I now use the free EZ Armor from RoadRunner and so far it's served it's purpose.
