I understand that. But the Podcast trip is a DIS sponsored cruise. The DIS Podcast group invited the entire website to join in this 4-day cruise starting May 10th. They have all kinds of events that are being sponsored directly through the Podcast and Dreams Unlimited. All the meets and events are being planned by these groups and you have to have made your reservation through DU to join in. Unfortunately the entire trip thread is made up of the people that booked through DU and seem to be regular listeners of the Podcast. I did chime in to say we were going when we booked the cruise. But found out pretty quickly that I wouldn't be able to join in on the activities. The people on the thread were really nice and said maybe I would see some of the group wandering the ship or on the secret deck. Not a big deal. It is only a 4-day and we are using the cruise to decompress after a week at WDW with our girls and grandkids.

Hmmmm, perhaps you can start a cruise meet thread for the non-podcast people, you would think there are more DISers on the cruise who don't know about the podcast group. It's not like the DISboards or DU chartered the whole dang ship!

Jackie & I were thinking about St Petersburg & doing our own thing (non DCL tour).

Who might be interested??? I'd be more than happy to keep a list of that (people's names, ages of kids) and places you'd like to see (if there is anything specific & of course after some research :lmao: -- I definately need to do that!).

From what I read before - Alla (atleast - not sure about Red October) will customize something for us if there are specific things our group wants to see.

Feedback please????

Jackie - did I do ok???

Monica I like the 2 day comfort tour by Alla. Depending on price we would be up to a tour with a group(depending on size). Or we may do it ourselves.:confused3

The 5 of you?? How old will Brent be at that time (incase needed)?

Gydell - we would definately have to see if they can "customize" something for us.....itinerary shows we're not ashore until 1130am & info that Alla has on their website says tour starts at 730a day 1

Didn't notice that fact. Maybe they can do half day and then come back after dinner for a couple of hours. More research is required.

Times (I'm sure) are all subject to change.....I can't wait to start bitting into the tour books :)

We DEFINATELY have time to figure tours out lol

What are their names? Thanks
DH name is Jared, DS that will be 17 is Tyler, and DS that will be 7 is Chase. He would be celebrating his 8th birthday on this cruise. Our dilemna is whether we are taking the boys (we would be leaving 2 girls at home) or just going the 2 of us. With so much time to go, it could be bound to change several times. LOL

Is Alla tours one of the tour companies that do not require a Russian visa? I did not see anything on their website about it. Red October customizes tours as well.
If they have a tour focusing on the Romanov's though, that is what I will be doing (Red October has one that is an imperial palaces tour too, but doesn't say anything about focusing on the Romanov's). I am reading an awesome book called the Fate of the Romanovs, and it would be great to do a tour that is about it.

Hi Michelle - not sure if Alla requires visas or not - I just was told that THEY deal w/ everything.

I think the Romanovs are a very interesting family and I would love to see the sights associated w/ them. I'll have to check out that book.

Nevermind, I looked around and read more on another page on their site, and Alla tours does not require a Russian visa. It looks like they are authorized, which is good.
Edited to add: thanks Gydell and monica for clarifying that. Any savings is good for me, so that would have made the difference in the 2 companies.

Hi Monica----That tour definitely interests me, so if anyone else decides to do it too, then we can form our own group. I know I am in.
But I know we have plenty of time for that....lol

What about doing secret Mickey gifts? We could set up the guidelines like one person to one person or cabin to cabin. Then we are not spending 2+ hours hunting down cabins we would just have 1 or 2 each time. We could still do it daily or not.

I love this idea. It would make it a lot easier. Cabin to cabin seems like a really cool idea. It could be one gift that all can share or a bunch of smaller items for each person. I really like this. It would relieve the stress of never making an FE and not knowing the first thing to put it one. The gift could even be something that you find on an excursion. But we definitely need to set a limit.

A group of people usually do lanyards for everyone. I will have a bag of candy so whoever(kids) we get will have a little something each day.
