Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Just a note to all Secret Mickey participants. I haven't forgotten you! I will close the window soon, thinking May 1, and send you a pm with the details.

To those still considering it, please pm me your info. There is a link to the post on the first page.

To all cruisers staying in Dover, we are planning to meet for dinner at Cullin's Yard on June 11th at 7 pm. Hope you can join us!

I have a little difference "dressy" question. We are doing the Russian Ballet the first evening. How dressy do you think people will be? Nice dress slacks? Jacket for the guys? I have never been to a ballet plus being in a different country. I'm debating my dress black pants vs a dress. Plus my sons (who are in their early 20's) will be questioning me.

We've been to the Joffrey Ballet (Nutcracker) in Chicago. The girls wear Velvet dresses (its in December), the boys have either sweaters or dress shirts and ties with slacks, women mostly wear either black pants or black skirts with sweaters/blouses and the men wear nice slacks with sweaters or shirts. I don't recall any men wearing jackets or ties, but I am sure that some did dress up. So, yes, I would say that many people will dress up for this event in St. Pete's.

Thanks for your input. I was debating suit vs. dress slacks and dress shirt for the guys. We have that same tight schedule that MJGirl mentioned. It will be worth it in the long but I'm sure there will be some whining, especially by younger son. He's always my one that lets you know that he's thinking! Just a little over 9 weeks to go! WOW!

Seeing as I only have an hour and a half between my prior tour and the ballet, I'm just going to wear black pants. We will be running up to grab some chicken fingers, then changing. Going to be busy!

Can we preorder room service dinner to show up at a specific time?

That's exactly what we planned to do! Black slacks and some quick chicken fingers between our 2 tours! Are you going to the ballet the first or second night? (we're the first) I like your idea about pre-ordering room service.....I wonder if that's possible.......

I was curious as to which tour you are doing with www.stonehengetours.com.
We are looking at the 5000 years in a day tour. I also like the King Arthur tour but it does not include the Salisbury Cathedral which has the Magna Carta. My DH wants to see that being a Barrister and all. Thanks. Carol

I`m going the second night. The first night, I`m scheduled for the Evening Boat Canal Cruise. Another night of chicken fingers. I think the dining rooms will be empty in St. Pete`s

We considered doing the Evening Boat Canal cruise too but decided two extra busy days in a row would be too much. We are doing the Ballet the first night after the Majestic Blood Cath. I'm hoping the boat ride will be almost as nice. The second day we have a long tour in Catherine's Palace and Hermitage so a quiet evening sounded good.

DCL just sent me two photos of the private train compartments for the train to Berlin. If anyone is interested, send me a PM with your e-mail and I will forward them to you. I am not very good at posting photos on web sites.

We're using SPB tours for St. Petersburg and plan to go to the ballet in the evening. I asked Viktoria if we should plan to bring along a change of clothes so we're not wearing the same clothes we'll be in all day touring and here's her reply:

"In summer the dress-code is not strict unless you are wearing a t-shirt and shorts. You can certainly take some clothes with you to change. Please note, that at least last year at Mriinsky theatre (old stage) there was no air-condition. I'll have to check if they'll have it this summer..."

So I'm sure you can be as dressy as you like, but sounds like you can be more casual too.

If it ends up being anything like the Meditterean Cruise, the dining room managers will be outside the Disney Magic and will invite you to go right to your assigned dining room when you return to the ship, no matter what time you get back. We were always running late because there was just so much to see and so little time, and a lot of the excursions didn't make it back in time for our dinner.

No worries, DCL was on top of things and it became kinda like an open dining room. I think we were over an hour late one night!

Guess DCL didn't want us to starve! :rotfl:

Linda, thanks for this information. This makes me feel a little better having the early dining.

I wonder how it will work if we have late dining and would like to eat earlier?? Was assuming we would do the buffet/Pluto's/Goofy's -- would be nice to sit down in between day tour and evening activities . . .

Those options would work...I would also recommend talking to your waiter...If there is time and room, he or she may be able to squeeze you in on early seating for that day.

We are doing the Evening Canal Boat on the first night too! And the Ballet on the second night.

The first day we are doing the St. Petersburg Introduction, which returns at 4:45, so not too long to get a snack, but I think more than enough time to get something.

The second day there we are doing a shorter tour in the morning, so we will be back in more than enough time to get ready for the ballet :)

Germany is another late night, so I am sure they will have the open dining for that night too.

Good Morning Cruisers!

I have the morning off - our office closed yesterday at 2:30 and is not opening today until 10 AM because of our snow. It is very nice having a few extra hours off!

What happens if you don't dress up on formal night? Can you still go to your regular dinning room? I think we missed the formal night on our last cruise and then we did get all dressed up on the cruises before that. The main reason we were going to get all dressed up was so that we would still be welcome in our dinning room and could enjoy dinner with our table. I would be much more comfortable without the fancy dress, heels and pantyhose:rotfl:

Thanks,
Marianne

It looks like others have answered you - I have only seen men turned away from Palo's for their dress, never seen anyone turned away from regular dining rooms. We are also not dressing up, Scott will take a sport coat (I think) and some dress (collared) shirts, I have 2 skirts and several semi-dressy tops to go with them, my dress shoes are gold sandals.

Have a great week all!

Based on the Med cruises, won't be a problem. Just let your dining room server know, they didn't seem to have any problem mixing people around, it always seemed like the dining room was half empty every time we were in the port. They were always looking for people to go eat!

Are these pictures for Berlin Private Vehicles with Premium Train Services excursion? It looks great. We are going on the Berlin Past and Present and I hope it will be comfortable too.

The private compartments look really nice!!!!

I know the first class we rode in on the Eurostar trains on our ABD in Italy were really nice as well. I guess I should have taken a look at the coach arrangement, but I never really took the time to get up.:rotfl:

All the Eurostar trains are really nice though!!!! America could really use a system like that.
