Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

There was a FE game played on the eastbound Panama Canal Cruise in August of '08 that I thought was so much fun....and extremely clever! I won't reveal the game but was that you?

Sadly no, but I'd love to hear about it!

I've created a photo scavenger hunt of the Magic, and the winner will receive a nice prize. More info to come...:thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't been posting much....I've been busy. Take a peek:

Wow! Yep, you have been busy and it all looked beautiful.

I'm not on your cruise anymore. We switched to Princess , and guess what, we got upgraded to a full Vista Suite on the Princess Dolphin Deck.
We leave the day before you, so we will make a path for you. Have a great trip everyone.

So here's a bad piece of luck :sad2:.

I ordered nice dresses from eBay for the girls for the formal and semi-formal nights. I've done this before and been very pleased. You can get nice flower-girl-type dresses for $20!

Well, they shipped the order in two packages - one contained one dress. The other one contained 5. I got the package with the single dress last week and wondered where the other package could possibly be...When it didn't show up yesterday, I sent an e-mail to the seller asking for a tracking number to figure it out.

Well, today we found the package......It's in Kathmandu!!!!:scared1::scared1:

See we get our mail through a State Dept. sorting facility in VA. When the mail comes in, they sort it by overseas post into bins. Well, the KAMPALA bin just happens to be next to the KATHMANDU bin. It appears that my girls' dresses fell into the wrong bin.

At this point, don't see how they could possibly make it to Kampala in time before we leave next Thursday. So bummed! Have no idea what I'm going to do with five dresses after the cruise!!! And taking the girls downtown to buy other dresses will definitely give away my secret. DangNabit! :sad1:

What to do...:confused3

Oh man, that's a bummer. I'm sure everyone will look beautiful no matter what you wear! Good luck!

The fact sheets are designed for the 6-10 set. Very simple language, maps, nice pictures, some activities, and basic words in the local language.

If you'd like to receive one, send DH a PM with your e-mail and he'll send it to you. :goodvibes

They are great! I even made a set for my mother so she can follow along on our journey!

Sadly no, but I'd love to hear about it!

I've created a photo scavenger hunt of the Magic, and the winner will receive a nice prize. More info to come...:thumbsup2

Sounds like fun!!! Can't wait!

Does anyone have the "up to date" list of theme nights? Is villan night just after the show or all evening event like pirate night has been?

Down to packing the "theme nights" attire and then I'M DONE!!!!!!!

Happy Packing and Very Safe Travels to All.

Heidi

Well, I don't know if this is "up-to-date" or even accurate at all. I think it's difficult to know, since this will be the first cruise of this itinerary. But I think I got most of this from someone who posted a while back (I think they called DCL directly and got the information), and I may have made some educated guesses here and there.

Sat - Dover - Cruise Casual
Sun - Day at Sea - Prince and Princess - Formal
Mon - Oslo - Cruise Casual
Tue - Copenhagen - ???
Wed - Warnemunde - ???
Thu - Day at Sea - Villains Night - Semi formal?
Fri - St Petersburg - Cruise Casual
Sat - St Petersburg - ???
Sun - Helsinki - Pirate Night
Mon - Stockholm - Flavors of Scandinavia Night
Tue - Day at Sea - Captain's Gala - Semi-Formal
Wed - Day at Sea - Til We Meet Again
Thu - Dover - Debarkation

So here's the plan to surprise the girls on Thursday. I made up the following scavenger hunt clues to give to their teachers. Throughout the day, they need to answer the questions and get the next clue. Each clue is tied to our trip and something they've studied this year in school. What do you think???

Today is the start of a great adventure! Throughout the day, you’ll need to solve riddles and find more clues. The clues will help you figure out where this adventure will take you! This is your first clue. When you arrive at school, you need to go and talk to your teacher about what you’ve learned this year. Your teacher wants to know three things that you learned this year. When you tell her, she will give you your next clue. Good luck!

Alex Clues:
1: This year you learned a lot about how things move. Mrs. Eisele would like you to tell her how boats float. When you do, you will receive your next clue.
2: You are now learning about stories. One of the best known stories of all time was written by a man from Denmark named Hans Christian Anderson. There is a statue in the city of Copenhagen of the main character. You need to tell Mrs. Willison the name of this story to get your next clue. Hint: The main character’s name is Ariel…
3: Earlier this year, you learned about different types of houses and climates. Here is a picture of a sauna in Finland. Can you tell Mrs. Iverson why you think it’s built this way? When you do, she’ll give you your next clue.
4: Your friends and teachers come from all over the world. This year you learned about how different people help others. Some of the best helpers are your teachers. They make a big difference in your life by teaching you new things. Talk to Mrs. Infield about the country she comes from and what are some exciting things to see there. Then she’ll give you your last clue.
5: Have you figured out the adventure yet? For this clue, you need to go and talk to Ms. Lizzie. You need to thank her for being such a great teacher this year and that you’ll miss her this summer. And you’ll see her next school year, since you won’t be in school tomorrow. You might also want to talk to Signe & Nicholai about the countries they come from and what they like best about them.
6: This is your last clue until you get home. On the bus, think about all the clues you’ve received and the places they talk about. Caitie’s clues might help you too. Mommy & Papi will see you at home!!!

Caitie Clues:
1: This year you learned about how the earth changes. In Norway, there are land formations called fjords, like in the picture. To get your next clue, you must tell Mrs. Iverson how you think fjords are made. Hint: It is cold in Norway most of the year.
2: In your unit about explorers, you learned how people travel around the world discovering new places. Do you remember hearing about the Vikings? They were some of the first explores to discover North America. To receive your second clue, you must tell Mrs. Willison where the Vikings came from.
3: As a young artist, you loved learning about art from around the world. This painting was created over 100 years ago by a Norwegian artist named Edvard Munch. To receive your next clue, you need to tell Mrs. Eisele what you think this painting is called. Hint: What is the person doing?
4: Ballet is another form of art. You are an excellent dancer. Many great ballerinas come from Russia. One of the most famous ballets ever created is about a beautiful girl who is turned into a bird by an evil wizard. This ballet was created by a Russian named Tchaikovsky. Please go and tell Ms. Lizzie the name of this ballet in order to receive your next clue. (Hint: You know this story, you’ve seen the Barbie movie.)
5: Have you figured out the adventure yet? For this clue, you need to go and talk to Mrs. Infield. You need to thank her for being such a great teacher this year and that you’ll miss her this summer. And you’ll see her next school year, since you won’t be in school tomorrow. You might also want to talk to Ceria, Bethany, Dillan & Samantha about the countries they come from and what they like best about them.
6: This is your last clue until you get home. On the bus, think about all the clues you’ve received and the places they talk about. Alex’s clues might help you too. Mommy & Papi will see you at home!!!

There are pictures that go with some of them, but they don't show up here in the post.

Getting excited!!!!:thumbsup2

Your clues are awesome! You are very creative. Do you think they will guess it? Can't wait to see the out come.
DH decided he better start packing tonight.:rotfl2:
Only three more days a work Thur., Friday and Monday. I have about 10 days worth of things to get completed before we leave. :scared1: So I will see how it goes! Not much longer fellow cruisers. Sue

Looks like I'm flying home into a major headache!! I fly in to Toronto on the 24th of June and the G8 Summit starts on the 25th and the G20 starts on the 26th .... :scared1: Airport is going to be a zoo!!!!!!

When we were coming home from the Mediterranean cruise 3 years ago, we had to change planes in Frankfurt. The G8 was there at the same time, and we had to depart the plane out on the tarmak far away from the terminal! And take buses to the terminal!

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!!!

This time next week we'll be in final check mode getting ready to leave. My "plan" is to not have to work next Thursday if I can avoid it at all costs. We fly out around 5 pm, I think. I should have most everything done, but I'd like to spend most of the day with our little pup since we'll be away from him for two weeks.

I've got to finish our FE gifts. Got them started at least, just putting the final touches on them.

Will probably start packing early next week, don't want to pack too soon or I'll have to deal with wrinkles.

I can't believe our cruise is almost here!!!!:banana::banana:

Woke up last night and it hit me- we leave Sat. and all the little things left to do! Guess I'll be busy today and tomorrow. Yesterday dgs came down with an earache in both ears. Tonight is his big swim meet so we'll see if he can swim. Then no swimming until we are on the ship!

But just think, you are already packed with the cases locked! Biggest part of the battle is done:goodvibes
I'm starting to panic a bit thinking of everything left to do and the other person in the other room seems perfectly calm!
Commense the list making!

That sounds like our Chicago weather right now. Well I guess I will know what to pack.

Also, I know this was discussed earlier in this thread or another, but what are people planning on wearing to the ballet in St. Petersburg? We just decided to add the Ballet (Romeo and Juliet) on to our SP excursion the first night. We will not have time to get back to the ship to change before the ballet so I need to figure out something for all of us that will still look nice and somewhat dressy after wearing it all day for touring.
