Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Does anyone know if the fitness centeris closed when the ship is docked in ports? All it says on the site is the opening times except when ship is docked.Just wondering about st petersburg?

I recall the fitness center being open whilst in port,

To all of you leaving this week - have a safe trip and take care of the ship for the rest of us!

We leave 2 weeks from today!!!

Just arrived in Amsterdam - I don't like 8.5 hour flights!!! :headache: But this last minute business trip couldn't be avoided.

Got off the plane and froze my little tushie off!!!! I had my fleece on and everything! It's beautiful with bright clear skies, but probably only in the 50's. Granted it's 6am, so am guessing it will warm up. But definitely thinking layering is the way to go for the cruise. I don't think the kids' shorts will make the packing cut at this rate though. They are used to highs everyday in the mid-eighties, not the mid-sixties.

I'm on my way to Stuttgart for a week, so will let everyone know what the weather is like - it's much further south and inland, so am figuring if I'm cold in Stuttgart, I'll really be cold in Helsinki.

Wish I were on vacation already!!!! :sad1:

We booked the early dinner slot, but for the life of me, I can't remember what time that is? Can anyone enlighten me?

Less than 3 weeks...
Rach

Early dinner should be at 5:45. Late dinner at 8:15. That's been the recent schedule, I think.

This will be my first cruise with changing time zones with a three hour difference between England and Russia. They do change time on the ship right?

If I have this right, we'll lose one hour after leaving London before arriving in Oslo (though I wonder what time they will use while at sea). We'll be on the same time in Oslo, Copenhagen and Warnemunde. But then we'll lose two hours on the way to St Petersburg (again a day at sea in between - guessing we should move one hour each night there). After two days in St Petersburg, we'll gain an hour on the way to Helsinki. Then gain another hour on the way to Stockholm. Finally we'll gain the last hour back while sailing two days back to Dover.

Every evening that we change time zones, your stateroom person will leave a reminder card telling us which way to move clocks.

Well we are down to the wire, gotta make sure it is all together today, set out and ready to go after work tomorrow. Last min cleaning, checking lists etc etc etc

I recall loosing an hour evernight on the TA, and it seemed to catch up with us eventually..

Good Morning Cruisers!

I'm doing a dance :cool1:, my FE gifts are all finished! About halfway through I'm thinking "I've bitten off more than I can chew", but now they are all done and in the packing pile! Now just have to make our actual FE...

Weather here in Brisbane is heading into winter (yes, we're backwards!), and it's slightly warmer here than it will be on the cruise - and I'm freezing! Thinking warmer clothes will make the cut.

The last time we cruised they were still using the different times for each resturant so early dining would be 5:45 or 6:00 or 6:15 depending on which resturant you start in. They may have gone back to single start time, if so, I think it was the 6:00 for early, but I am not sure.

We should be changing time on the ship so that when we reach a port, we are on port time. As Scott said, on the transatlantic, we lost an hour every night, rather than losing it all at once.

Have a great day all!

I was looking at the tours site on Copenhagen. It looks like the double decker open top hop on hop off bus goes right by the cruise ship docks. We want to do this, so I hope they do. That would be great! Also we want to do the canal boat ride, and I think the buses must stop by there as well. I know we talked about this a long time ago, but now it's really getting close!

We will be doing the hop on hop off, in Copenhagen and have prepaid for this saved a little.

Does anyone know anything about this travel group out of London? They have an afternoon Stonehenge Tour that we are looking at. The London Tool Kit - Premium Tours, their website is http://www.england-london-tours.co.uk/londontoolkit/tours/details.asp?iProductID=193

Don't know about that one, but we booked with Evan Evans Tours for one on June 11 that goes to Oxford, Windsor, and inside the inner circle at Stonehenge at sunset: http://www.evanevanstours.co.uk/stonehenge-at-sunset.htm

Hi from Stuttgart everyone!

Today's weather was absolutely beautiful! You could have worn shorts without being too chilly in the sun, but appreciated my jeans in the shade. It's supposed to be just as nice tomorrow, but a front coming in on Tuesday is supposed to drop the temps by 10-15 degrees with rain.

Layering is still looking like a good approach for the cruise.

I wil be watching for trip reports, and living vicariously through those of you who are still going on the trip!

We, unfortunately had to cancel our Baltic, and we are rebooked on the Disney Alaskan Cruise in August of 2011. I am very sad since it was my dream trip, or supposed to be, but once we added airfare and exursions, etc we were looking at $20K plus for the 4 of us! I just couldn't justify it, no matter how hard I tried!

We will be "replacing" our June cruise with a New England/Canada trip on RCCL out of Baltimore. A disappointing alternative, but we are getting excited. We did get a Junior Suite for only $6000, quite a difference compared to our outside cabin on the Baltic for $12,000. We have never been on Royal Carribean, but its also the first larger boat to go out of Baltimore, so there are some special ceremonies that day. *sigh* Not the same, but it will be good!

So bon voyage, have a great time, and can't wait for pictures and stories from all of you!

We are doing HOHO in Copenhagen also.. I think... we keep changing our minds :) Just watched the John Lawrence DVD and thinking about the canal tour also.

After much contemplating, we decided to do a DCL tour for Stockholm. We would be worried every minute about getting back to the ship on time. This way we know that we will see something and be back on time. No worries!

Scott and Lynn! Safe travels to you. Can not wait to hear about your adventures.

Oh no :sad2: So sorry this trip didn't work out for you but I'm glad you are looking forward to the RCCL cruise. When does that one cruise? I'm so envious of your Disney Alaskan cruise, wish we would have known about Disney going there before we cruised there last year:mad:

Good Morning Cruisers!

One last post - need to get last minute stuff done today while Scott is working, and be ready to run out of the house as soon as he gets home! Dogs get to go to the kennel (puppy camp) today. It is a good thing they like the kennel or I would feel guilty leaving them there for such an extended stay!

Safe travels everyone! We will be looking forward to seeing you all in Dover - those that we have not already seen in Barcelona anyway!
