From our back window I've been watching a small bog/marsh GROWING into a small pond over the last few weeks. Lovely site. Wish it was there all the time!!!!

I haven't seen this pond since we bought this place in 1993 -- after a VERY rainy spring.

Surely, we must be out of the drought with all the rain we've had. And surely, the water supply must be back to normal.

Anyone know?

Well looks like we are coming off our water restrictions soon. All this rain has raised our reservoirs over 87% and still rising. We have to be at 85 or better for 7 consecutive days...I am getting a little tired of the rain but Im not complaining yet!

Our bog/marsh/pond/lake invaded our laundry room last night :( . It actually got blown in under the back door, did not really leak. But...everywhere you walk on our grass you squish squish squish. I was up with the wet/dry vac at 7:30 this morning.

We were very fortunate this summer, our town is supported by 4 HUGE wells, so our restrictions were not as severe as surrounding communities (I guess that's the trade off to having a funny taste to it)

Our pump has been going for about 10 hours now, and the 'lake' is almost back where it belongs.

Last week I heard something onthe news on this, now lets see if I can remember it. They said in order for the drought to be officially over 2 things needed to happen, we had to get the forecasted 1-2 inches of rain for Wed(which we did get) and the Noreaster they were predicting for this weekend had to hit(which I guess it did). So, I would think we are ok now.

They also mentioned, before the rain of the past few days, that we were just to a drought "watch" I think, or maybe "advisory", whichever one is less severe. It was the first lable on the chart that has watch, warning, etc... So, we must be out of that now. Oh and we are almost up to the average amount of precipitation for the year, however they now measure it a new way and if it were still measured the old way, it would be right about the norm.

Can you tell Im a weather junkie? If I miss the news, I panic. ;)

I drove through town today, and the water ban signs were still up. We always have a water ban here...they keep building, but not adding wells, and every year it gets worse. I do not think our ban has lifted :(

I think we have had just about enough rain here in East Tennessee too!!
