North To Alaska--May 3, 2011 on the Disney Wonder

I thought I had seen a FE Listing that was in order by cabin but now I can't find it. It might have been a link to a pdf maybe.

Is there one? Or does anyone have one? :confused3

In my many searches on this board I remember seeing lots of discussions on whether there would be a Pirate Night on the Alaskan cruise. I asked my mom and she made some calls and there is definitely a Pirate Night. Sooo....what do I pack for this?

We're just bringing pirate t-shirts. I have a pink t with the DCL logo in sequins and a skull crossbone in the middle and DH has a beatings will continue until morale improves pirate t.

I'm sure others are bring whole pirate costumes pirate:

I couldn't find a listing by cabin so I have been moving list into an excel file to do it myself...hopefully will get it done before time to leave LOL would make it easier onboard..

Thanks - I'll guess I'll do the same. If you'd like I can email you mine when I'm done.

I am currently making FLATTIES!

Flatties are a FLAT version of a dear, close, DISer, who you've cruised with before ... likely kept in touch with ... perhaps sailed on a few cruises together ... but who is not able to cruise with you on your current outing. We've likely all met new friends and cohorts on speciality cruises (inaugural, maiden, special itinerary, etc) ... when all of the DisneyCruisePhiles seem to come out of the wookwork!

Here's what you do ...
1) Find a MUG SHOT of your friend from your hoards of digital pics (hopefully, they're smiling).
2) Print pic on thick photo / card stock (so that the finished product is rigid).
3) Select an array of colorful card stock / construction paper ... sketch a simple outline of a human (we're not grading art projects here).
4) If you prefer, mix and match colors ... feel free to make shoes a different color as compared to their pants ... same for flesh tone, etc. (where possible).
5) Use a pen or marker to accent clothing, if desired.
6) Use non shiny scotch tape on reverse (don't be shy), but use very sparingly on the front, as camera flash can sometimes reveal scotch tape lines. If you use tape sparingly on the front, it can sometimes look like a design accent.
7) Get a new paint stirrer from your local home improvement store ... and RAM the stick up (well, let's just say, tape it to their back)!

Now, you can hold your FLATTIE next to your face ... have a friend or total stranger take a picture of you with your FLATTIE friend when you are in front of a memorable location ... whether it be embarkation, dinner in Palo's, Walt Disney Theatre, excursion ... the choices are limitless!

Here's a sample (below) of a FLATTIE I am completing (there is a bit of reflection from the kitchen light fixture) ... laid out on a red background for display purposes only ... without the paint stirrer / handle.

7 night cruises get a Pirate Night. The Alaska Cruises do not get fireworks (for undisclosed reasons, but likely related to environment). In the past, DCL has generally made certain events standard on 7 night cruises. That being said, I know there have been a few people wondering what might be *cut* for the 6 day REPO (ie: Captain's Reception, Pirate Night, Chocolate Night, etc).

As for Pirate night dress ... there are accessories (some inexpensive, some not so cheap) available on the ship ... made to make you resemble a Disney pirate. Many people have gone to costume shops (even at Halloween time) for supplies. Don't be shy ... there will be MANY guests who will dress in pirate garb so well, you may think they are cast members. There will also be just as many people wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts.

Every time we go on a DCL cruise, we see more elaborate costumes and wardrobe (it's a Disney thing). A few cruises ago, there was a guest who was a dead ringer for Johnny Depp. He took 90 minutes to put on makeup in his stateroom ... donned his costume (with his wench cohorts), and went so far as to make an entrance in each of the three restaurants on Pirate night ... at EACH dinner seating (plus, likely Palo's, and Topsiders). The motley crew was very well received.

Not to fret, for those of us who are Pirate.challenged ... at Pirate night dinner, DCL servers usually give you a bandana to wear to the party ... just to keep your spirits high, and make you feel like a wee bit of a pirate.
:thumbsup2

Hey Guys, keep those prayers coming. Jason's dad is scheduled for a heart cath Friday afternoon. His doctor believes that there's a blockage leading to the heart and a leaky ventricular valve. I pray this is something they can take care of through the cath and that there's nothing more serious that pops up. I really appreciate it!!!!

Will keep up the prayers. I can really relate to what you are going through right now.

Go to the first page of this thread ... posting #4. Click on the ROSTER link, which will open another page with video of Disneyland and California in the middle. To the RIGHT of the video is a hyperlink GEORGIE'S MEGA-LIST CLICK HERE!

Click on THAT hyperlink (on post #4) ... it will take you to Georgie's MEGA LIST (which is actually a duplicate of post #1922). Scroll down to FE's ... select either REPO or ALASKA.

Booked an excursion today for Skagaway (White Pass train one). I think I can whip up enough energy to sit on a train for a few hours...:lmao:

THREE MORE DAYS OF WORK...unless I come in for a while this weekend!

6 more "work" days for me

Your life is so simple Holly. I wish mine could be more like yours. You are my role model to try and work towards that.

Simple is stress-free. :thumbsup2 After so many years of stress in certain areas of life, I think that's why I go so simply in other aspects of life, to try to balance it out. :goodvibes

WORK is a 4 letter word!

On the other hand, DISNEY and CRUISE are 6 letter words. I've always liked the number 6 ... never really cared for the number 4. :confused3

I bought new costumes for us, just got them in the mail today, and I'm really disappointed. :sad1: Tyler's (I bought a size bigger than what he wears) is too small for him (plus the pants are SHORTS), and mine has a half shirt . Maybe if I had my 20 year old body, I could pull it off, but my 40 year old plus size shape is not something anybody wants to see in a half shirt! :rotfl2: The picture of each on the website is definitely not what we received. He's gonna be so sad. So I'm shipping them back and we'll just buy some piratey things at DL the day before. No biggie. Just a little disappointing.

Surely they have a costume store in your town..we have 2 costume stores and both party stores carry costumes also...do a local google search for pirate costumes.
