Hello everybody,
Well Norm and I are back from our home town of Key West - kinda tired so will just hit on a few things - first all of those that sent manilla envelopes for their information - I did get them all completed and mailed to you straight from Key West - let me know when you receive them - I found most merchants very uncooperate to work with me - I did find FINALLY a tee shirt shop that showed not only a great deal of honestly but with their products and that is Route 1 which is right accross from is going to be a Walgreen's drugstore right on Duval Street - it once was the Strand Theatre from my days - ask for Danny and he promises to give you conch rates especially if you have his business card since 3 to 4 cruise ships are there each day and he just wants to make sure who is who - also I found out that those that come off the ship wearing "cruise stickers" are referred to as Sticker people and it is like wearing a red flag for overcharging -
do you wear stickers saying what cruise you are on? I never noticed - the headlines in the Key West Citizen was that National Geographic (or however you say it) rated Key West as one of the ugliest places to spend your vacation due to the overcrowding and a number of things Key West was on a list of 150 places all over the world - many of those who live there are in complete agreement - but you will not find anyone doing anything about it since it brings in lots of $$$$$$$$$$$ - was Norm and I, as true conchs as they come, disappointed - that is putting it mildly - we were heartbroken our hometown had come to this - anyhow the write up is due to come out on March 2nd - I found that the ghost tour was unbelievable in it tales - one being that the Baptist church that once existed on Eaton and Bahama Lane which burned down about 20 years ago was haunted by a number of children that lost their lives there - WRONG no one was hurt for noone was there when it happended - I checked a number of stuff out and it is as it is in the brochures to a certain point so it is really what you want to do while in Key West - traffic is worse now then ever - Norm and I was stunned that in the 3 months we haven't been home, traffic had almost doubled - I still highly recommend Jose Cantina for good latin /american food located on White Street - 5 Brothers for meeting up with locals which has coffee, good cuban sandwiches and good conversations -
Anyhow I made a number of notes so will write more when the head is clearer - if I offended anyone sure am sorry - and I am from there and am offended.
Anyhow will write more later.
Always
Shirley
