I apologized if this has been asked - I think I understand how this works, but I want to make sure, so please correct me if I'm wrong!

AFAIK, you can buy points direct from Disney, but there's a minimum buy-in, which is currently 160 points. Existing members can add on points in increments as little as 25 points.

Resale contracts are available, and some of those resale contracts were former "add ons", so they can be as low as 25 points. Once you have a contract, in any amount and from Disney or resale, you're considered a "DVC Member" with all the same rights and privileges (with the exception of being able to use points for cruises, Adventurer Collection, and a few other collections).

So, does that apply to "adding on" points from Disney too, or do I need to have the original amount of "buy in" points before Disney will allow me to add more directly through them?

Let me give you an example. Say we buy 50 points in BCV via resale now. Then, a few years from now, we decide to add 50 points in VGF, or (hopefully) a new Poly resort. If resale points (especially in small contracts) are sparse our unavailable at that time, would Disney let us add on through them, or would we have to wait and find a resale contract for the amount we want?

I hope that makes sense!

If you are already a member - regardless how many points you own and whether purchased from DVC directly or by resale - you can add on directly thru DVC with a minimum purchase of 25 points.

You could purchase a 25 point contract via resale (if you can find one) and then you could add on another 25 thru Disney directly at any resort where they have points available in your Use Year.

I hope that helps! :)

Thanks! So if I want to add-on, the add-on has to be the same use year as my original contract?
