Non traditional kids choices for CS meals?

I read that there is Sloppy Joe's on the kids menu at Backlot, other than that where have you seen non-traditional kids choices for CS?

My DD isn't crazy about mac n cheese, or chicken tenders. She'll eat a hamburger, but not for two weeks straight LOL!

So what else have you seen?

I don't have kids so I can't help you with your question but I just wanted to say that I think it's a shame that Disney doesn't offer more non-traditional items on their children's menus for kids who are not so picky.

I can remember as a child quite often having to order from the adult menu at different restaurants while on vacation because I didn't want to eat chicken nuggets and grilled cheese sandwiches every day and my parents didn't want to feed me like that.

Quesadillas at El Pirata y el Perico in the MK, IF they're open (they're open "seasonally"; the only time we've seen it open was Memorial Day week. Also quesadillas at the Cantina in Mexico at Epcot. My boys loved those. There are more choices at breakfast in the food courts at the resorts. I think there's a chicken drumstick with mashed potatoes at the Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. Flame Tree BBQ at AK has wings on their kids' menu.

We usually get two adult CS meals and split between the four of us, but that won't work for everyone.

Just thinking off the top of my head, but what about ordering an appetizer?? My daughter is picky, and the appetizer is a bit more, but a huge variety, and if she doesn't eat it all, you could share!

Cosmic Ray's at MK has grilled chicken caesar salad on the menu. DD6 is a huge salad eater and she was thrilled to see that on there! Sunshine Seasons has good choices for kids as well.

Most of the places in WS at Epcot have an ethnic option. I know that YH has a terriyaki dish.

This is what my DD4 does. She's pretty adventurous, she'll try about anything if it sounds good to her, but as long as a place has some sort of soup, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail or a caprese salad we can guarantee she'll be all set (which luckily most places do). If even I can tell there's nothing she'd eat, she can get plain pasta, no big deal. If a place has a nice childrens menu with decent food on it, like most sigs, that's fine too. We don't want her to grow up 'learning' to only eat chicken fingers. She's only eaten my homemade baked chicken fingers, that's it.

I recall that the Electric Umbrella at Epcot had unusual kids choices- ham and cheese pinwheels, etc. As the mother of a DS who is INCREDIBLY picky , I asked for things that weren't on the menu and was always told "YES". If there's something that your DD wants, just ask- it doesn't hurt anything...

If your going to DH go to Pizza Planet. Your child wll like it there anf most kids love pizza.

Chicken wings at Flame Tree in AK. My kids really liked these. We pulled the meat off the bone for them.

I agree that both the CS and TS options for children as dismal. I was so sick of seeing chicken nuggets and mac & Cheese by the end of the week. I guees Mickey LOVES his mac and cheese.

I think that Sunshine Seasons had some better variety for children. You may want to check out the menus here or at allearsnet.

You have three like us and we sometime order one Adult entree and and one kids for the three. We usally get a chicken and then maybe a mac cheese. Also with the adult order you usally get some veggie and a salad that the kids really need after eating for ten days at WDW.

My girls are pizza lover so we also order a regular pizza off the adult menu and the three can split it. The kids pizzas always seem to be the same frozen kind (this works great at Rainforest Cafe)

Pinocchio Village Haus has turkey & cheese roll-ups.

Casey's has corn dog nuggets.

Sunshine Seasons & Flame Tree both have chicken legs.

I haven't checked every single menu, but a lot have the same choices. I appreciate the suggestions that have been given, I will check out those places. The problem is we will be on the dining plan, so I can't just order her an appetizer unless I want to pay for it and waste a CS.

She's not a really picky eater, it's just that when we go out she doesn't like the kids choices so much, and usually opts for a hamburger, and I know that will get old quick.

Would you consider sharing with her? Dd8 and I always split the chicken wrap at Pecos Bill's in MK because it is HUGE!

As a family, we all share the rotisserie chicken and rib combos at Cosmic Ray's. We order three adult cs meals for the five of us (dh and I, ds15, dd13 and dd8).

None of my kids have really ever liked kid meal choices except for mac and cheese, but that gets really old after awhile on vacation! Dd8's favorite cs locations for kid meals are Sunshine Seasons (asian, make-your-own sub, chicken leg and masheds---plus good desserts) and several of the countries in Epcot. She used to like Tusker House before it changed format. Pizza Planet will do in a pinch. Other than those, she'll either share with one of us or get mac and cheese or a burger.

The thing about sharing though is the the kids' credits don't get used.

We were able to get " adult" choices at several places that do not have a kids menu on the DDP. I know we ate at the Boulangerie in France and DD got a sandwich, pastry and a drink for a CS credit. We also eat at WPE several times a trip and she is allowed to get whatever she wants for a child CS credit. I know there was mor e but those are all I can remember.
Flametree in Ak has baked chicken wings that you can get BBQ sauce for that my DD loves. Ohhh.. Pizza Planet.. you get a combo meal for a kids credit.. which is a pizza, salad, dessert and drink. Its the same as an adult meal. Its not bad pizza really and the salad is a great choice. At Seasons in epcot she got a " make your own sub" that she enjoyed. You can get fish and chips at Cooke's for a child credit also and we got them at the fish and chips stand in Ws also. I think someone else noted that you can ask places to make a kids portion of the adult item.. we got this is China.. they gave her a small porion of the orange chicken for her credit.. it was nasty tho.
Sharing meals at the places other have mentioned is a great idea. The portions are soooo large that its easy. As for the extra child credits we use them for breakfast or to get snacks. We have always been able to get 2 pastries and a drink at the bakery in france for her child credits so we each get a treat and we split the drink. We always did this on the last day when there were no adult credits left so they would not use one of those.
I dont know how big of an eater you are but I have eaten the childs meals to use up the credits we have left. I choked down one of those sloppy joes and Columbia Horbour House has a grilled chicken salad for kids thats decent.

This is one reason we are doing the deluxe ddp. We can go to buffets and the kids can be adventurous
Are you are looking mostly for CS for lunches in parks?

My girls would try the corn dogs at Casey's in MK. Or the turkey and cheese roll up at Pinnochio's (if it's still there?)
They'd love the quesadilla in Mexico in Epcot.
Pizza Planet in HS/MGM. Or we'd see if the Backlot Express still has a sloppy joe on the menu.
My oldest wants to try the chicken wings at Flame Tree in AK.
Pizzafari in AK lists spaghetti and meatballs on the kids meni (likely something my youngest will get).

It's mostly chicken but...

Flame Tree has the chicken wings (Animal Kingdom)
Studio Catering Company has a chicken drumstick (Studio)
Cosmic Rays has a salad with chicken and also chicken noodle soup as a side (Magic Kingdom)
Epcot has chicken drumstick at Lotus Blossom Cafe. They also have egg rolls as well (used to have them as a kids meal - maybe I ate that too much!)

Also mix and match your meals. Get her a kids meal she doesn't really want but get an adult meal she does want. Split the adult meal and then eat her entree. There's no law that says SHE is the one that has to eat the kids meal.
