Non peak Times

The least crowded and cheapest is Sept( after Labor day) and then the week after Thanksgiving till the week before Christmas.

Christmas, Easter and Spring Break. Just kidding, LOL!!
We used to go in mid-May (before schools let out), before Memorial Day weekend, and had good luck with short lines. We also enjoy going the first week in December...the holiday decorations are up, the crowds are lower, and the weather is still quite nice. We use to go in the fall...in mid-October...but with the ever expanding calendar for the Food and Wine Festival, more and more people seem to be there that time of year.

As for cheapest time, I really don't know. We are DVC members and just go as often as our points allow.

Best of luck planning your trip. To be honest, any time spent at WDW is a good time to be there!

Using the 2009 calendar for resort rates, the "off peak" (a/k/a "value") times are:

01 Jan - 15 Jan
19 Jan - 12 Feb
09 Aug - 01 Oct
29 Nov - 17 Dec

Note that off-peak times may have other advantages and disadvantages than just the pricing, such as:

  • More rides/attractions closed for refurbishment
  • Shorter operating hours
  • Reduction in the number of shows (e.g., Fantasmic)
  • Shorter ride lines
  • Easier dining reservations
  • Possible reduction in frequency of resort transportation

We go during Free Dining in the middle of September... Since we cram 4 adults (and a 2 year old) in a value room for $104 per night and get $160 worth of dining plan included, we make out pretty well. We can't get discounted tickets (free dining requires you to buy at least a one day ticket directly through Disney). It is still pretty warm/hot and the parks close earlier, but the crowds weren't bad and the toddler doesn't need to be out all night anyway.
