My 3 and my bf's 1 past Orlando trips have been pretty full on with little WDW time outside of the parks but this time we have 9 nights just at WDW with the exception of going offsite for some mall shopping (for me) and shooting at a gun range (for Steve) which should take up half a day. Also considering HHN the same evening but we're not overly impressed with the theme so may decide against it. Either way we have a good amount of time to spend in the parks and since we want to spend some time chilling outside of them (but still staying onsite) i'm looking for ideas :) I know there are loads of things you can do but i'd really like to hear personal recommendations of things people have actually done and enjoyed rather than just lists I could find anywhere on the net ;) So far I have mini golf and Disney Quest (we both enjoyed this last time). We're not really into water parks but do plan to spend some time at the resort pools :)

they do horse riding at fort wilderness, me and DH went last time and really enjoyed it, he'd never been on a horse before so it was a learning curve for him!
have you looked at any of the backstage tours?

i guess in a way its still an attraction but deffintly check out the shows finding nemo the musical at AK is really good this year we plan to see the lion king indiana jones as well

Resort hopping, last year we spent an afternoon visiting the deluxe hotels on the monorail line - found these were easiest ones to "hop" to without a car :thumbsup2

You could visit the spa, there is one at Coronado Springs, Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs and Swan/Dolphin

We always visit Celebration, there are some lovely restaurants and shops, you can take a carriage ride or just sit in a rocking chair over looking the lake!:goodvibes

we also enjoyed the horse riding at Fort Wilderness.. .at the tri-circle D ranch...
you don't have to have any experience at all, the horses are practically audioanimatronic they're so well trained...
it was fun..

we also enjoy going on a guided fishing trip out on bay lake/seven seas lagoon....it's for about 2 hours and you catch tons of bass (catch and release)....really nice if you like to fish...

we also enjoy renting bikes and riding around - the two best places for bike rental in our opinion?
at POR - rent them there and then ride to PFQ and back...
or rent them at WL and ride them to FW and back...

if you like boats, renting the water mice or one of the pontoon boats is also fun...we usually do that..

riding the boat from WL to MK is also a nice relaxing trip...

we also love the waterparks and disneyquest...

Great thread - we had forgotten about Celebration. We also like looking at the various resorts - don't forget the Boardwalk area.

I enjoyed the walk around the boardwalk, water taxi from POR to DTD, fishing at the POR, resort hopping(that could be a day out in-self), and not forgetting a nice relaxing michelob ultra by the pool:banana:

What about the "off road" segway tour at Fort Wilderness?

ford family

Hi, this sounds interesting! Could you give me some info pl? DH and DS did the segway tour at Epcot last year, and really enjoyed it!
Sorry, didn't mean to highjack the original post! This year we are going to the GF for afternoon tea. Haven't tried it before, but it got a big thumbs up when I asked earlier this year:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the ideas so far :goodvibes We'd both love to do one of the segway tours but can't unfortunately... Looked at the other tours but nothing grabs me at the moment, might look into a couple of them in more detail though :) I wish DHS had a tour or two!

Downtown Disney is always fun as is the Boardwalk. I'd also recommend visiting the resorts - we go there for meals and it's great being able to walk around the Poly and others and soak it in within having to pay the money to stay there (which of course I'd love to do!!).

:thumbsup2

Great thread Lizzybear! I enjoy going to the malls, browsing Downtown Disney and going to Walmart. No original ideas from me I'm afraid, but keep them coming guys! :)

We always take time to resort hop around the deluxe resorts, grab a coffee at them and have a look in their shops etc. At AKL you can go out onto the savannah overlooks and talk to the animal keepers and listen to traditional African stories around the firepit. We also love to grab an icecream from beaches and cream and sit and relax on the rocking chairs in front of the Yacht or Beach club, or sit on the swing seats on the Beach Club's beach.

The Backstage magic tour, although very long and quite expensive does some behind the scenes at DHS. We loved this tour when we took it last trip. This trip we are doing the Back Stage safari tour at AK as this is the only park we haven't done a backstage tour of.

We have also had fun renting the boats around the lagoon between Epcot and DHS, we have done the sea racers and the larger Boston Whaler boats. On future trips I want to do the paragliding around the Seven Seas Lagoon, that looks fun.
