PortNOLA.com states, "Disney Cruise Line passengers will utilize Convention Center parking and will be shuttled to the terminal". Is this true, or do you park in the Erato St terminal garage as in the past (three years ago)? Please don't tell me this is like parking in Miami now, far from the terminal.

I don't know how far away it is from the terminal, however, this was a big discussion on our cruise group going in a few weeks. Someone posted a pick of what that parking area looks like. This is not my photo, mind you, but you can google the address. From the website:

Disney Parking
Disney Cruise Line passengers will utilize Convention Center parking and will be shuttled to the terminal. (The cost for parking remains the same as below)
Disney Cruise Line passengers and luggage should be dropped off at 1100 Port of New Orleans Way (Erato Street Cruise Terminal).

Parking is available at 1451 Tchoupitoulas Street. A parking attendant will assist in directing guests to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center's H Lot. A shuttle is available to transport cruise passengers from the H Lot back to the Erato Street Terminal.

Parking rates: 4 day parking is $90; 5 day parking is $110; 6 day parking is $130; 7 day parking is $150; 8 day parking is $170; 9 day parking is $200; 10 day parking is $220 and the 14 day parking rate is $300. Accepted forms of payment are cash and credit/debit.

TxT365, thanks for that info. But very disappointing. We pay the big bucks for DCL and get treated worst than a Carnival cruiser.

from our facebook group (they contacted the port)

In case this helps anyone. Official response from Port of Nola
The Port is looking at other options for the future, however, Disney passengers will need to park in the H-Lot for the 2023 season. It was anticipated that the Erato Street Parking Garage would be at max capacity from the two Carnival ships that dock out of the Erato Street cruise terminal, therefore, Disney opted to offer cruise passengers this alternative option. This lot has been secured by the Port. The Port has added cameras, motion sensors, increased lighting, a security guard that is on site 24:7, as well as round the clock patrolling from HPD.

Michael077, thanks! Now my question is, what does PAT mean? I assume PAT is, like at PC, when you can drop your luggage and then park. But we carry our luggage. So wonder if we have to go to the luggage drop just to get a "ticket" that allows us to park, like at PC, or can we just go to park and our PAT is when we arrive at the terminal with our bags. Has anyone explored or experienced this? Thanks?

Update to my last question: I see it says on DCL site that you will not be allowed in the terminal or parking area before your PAT. But can you go directly to the parking area at your PAT at NOLA? Just try it I guess. Otherwise they make you go to the luggage drop-off (about two blocks from the parking lot) and get a "ticket". The difference at NOLA is that you don't have to pass the luggage drop-off to get to the parking lot (1000 feet away) as you do at PC.

OK, here's the deal. The "H" parking lot is about 1500 ft from the Erato St. terminal. There are portable lighting units there but not set up. It is fenced in but on a Disney non-cruise day the gates are open (why?). It must serve others too. Right down the street there are many, many homeless living in a "camp". There is a security guard at the lot sitting in a car. He had no idea about PAT's or when you can park on cruise day. There are police sirens nearby every few minutes and while we were there a police SWAT convoy went flying by. Nice neighborhood.

while the lot is within walking distance, transportation will be provided and i plan on using it. this does block me from skipping the baggage drop off though. i don't know how picky they will be with port arrival time for that but will show up early regardless.
sad but not surprised about the gates always open. I believe that lot is used for any viking cruises as well. a security guard not knowing about any transactional stuff isn't too surprising but nice to hear that there is one posted.
I am a worry wart for sure and i prefer to have a zero percent chance for incident but I don't think we have to worry too much about this one. still, keep the pressure on Disney so this gets sorted going forward.
here is a crime map that I have been watching to try to help my anxiety. so far no incident around the lot.

I live two blocks from this lot and I wouldn't worry too much about that lot, to be honest. It's literally where we stage Mardi Gras floats and movie trailers.

Copied from another similar thread:
I live here, and I recently went out of my way to be dropped off at the terminal instead of parking. Disney (or the port) makes you park in a satellite lot (instead of the attached garage), right next to a huge homeless encampment. Car breakins have been rampant in the city, and even the city itself warned away from parking in open lots and favoring garages. I know the satellite lot seems to have security, but I wouldn't count on it being 24/7, especially if it isnt embarkation/debarkation days. There are a couple of private garages that are close, and on embarkation days, they usually have sign spinners and electronic signs pointing you to them. They also have shuttles, but I couldn't speak to their quality.

Do you have to park in lot H or can you park in a nearby parking garage instead?

The official parking for Disney is lot H, but you're free to park anywhere you want. The nearby garages usually offer shuttles on embarkation days, but just remember they're not "official" to the port nor Disney so there's no guarantee as to their availability or timing.
