Praying that you will have an awesome experience with the new doctors and that Rachel will be blessed with healing soon!!

Thinking of all of you,

PS don't sweat it if you don't have time to respond we totally get it!!

Boy I couldn't agree more!

Hi Judy, checking in to see how you and your precious family are doing before we head to Orlando for a couple weeks. I so wish that you didn't have to part ways with Lisa's cardiologist. So sorry for the stress that may result but thankfully God has you covered for even this bump in the road...

Praying for sweet Rachel...

Still reading, still praying, still hoping you have a better day! God Bless!! Ruth

:wave2: I'm still checking in with you all from time to time! So sorry about Lisa's doctor :sad2:.
Praying for your family.

Hoping and praying the hand picked docs are just as fabulous or more than the original. How blessed Lisa was to have her doc for so long. Praying for him as well.

I hope Rachel is feeling better. I'm sorry this is progressing so slowly. It's got to be frustrating for you all.

The happy news is that Lisa's heart has had no change since May. As Dr. G said, it isn't now; however, the next two surgeries are coming. I know both of his partners quite well, Lisa has been seen by them many times. Dr. G has always been at the helm though, making sure to do things the CHOP way. He does have a preference of who he wants us to see and has reminded me he is but a phone call away. We asked about following him to Charleston and that is a distinct option, it is only 4 hours away, much closer than the time it takes us to get to Philly; however, it is very tough to NOT have a cardiologist locally, emergencies happen quickly and unexpectedly with heart children. It was bittersweet to say goodbye. His wife, while chronic in her illness, is stable. Dr. G however, has been diagnosed with an illness that will at some point in the near future require him to take a chunk of time off. His new job allows him to work part-time, be where he grew up and went to school, never take call and work for the state. This last one is especially important in this day of "affordable healthcare." The politics of medicine in Charlotte is taking it's toll. I knew he would leave someday, I just didn't expect it to be so soon. As he shared with us yesterday (Pete came too) things fell in to place so easily and quickly. It is very clear God had His hand on this and I have to be happy for Dr. G and I am. I admit I cried (Not sobs, but lots of tears). Lisa did too she was stronger than her Mama though and waited until we were at the elevator. She gave him her card before we left (It has all of our contact info on it for all 6 of us) and told him not to forget her. He hugged her for about the 100th time and told her he could never forget her. He fought back his own tears, this isn't easy for him to leave and start all over.

Rachel has had no change in her concussion status. The Doctor told her she could go to guitar last night IF she came home and rested all day. She was so excited, but still took a four hour nap. The MD wanted to stimulate her a little AND see if she could manage to play the guitar. Although she was very tired and a bit slower, Pete said she did okay.

Today is all about Lisa. Nephrology appt, Ultrasound on her legs for her femoral occlusion, (we have an hour wait between this appointment and the next), then we will see the vascular surgeon and a late appointment of speech therapy (we had to rearrange the week to accommodate everything going on).

THANK YOU for all of your continued prayers and for caring for our family...I know that is why you are here! Madeline, thanks for the reminder to not beat myself up for not answering everyone. BRENDA, Have a FABULOUS trip!!! KAREN! So great to see you!!! Thank you ALL for letting me know you are here.

Michelle, how is JJ??

So sorry to hear Lisa has to change doctors. My gd Cody that has a heart condition has had the same Cardiologist since the delivery room and we all love him and trust him so I know how you feel.
Glad that Rachel got to go play her guitar. At least it must have made her smile a bit.

Love the picture of Lisa and her doctor. I'm glad there's been no change in her status.

I will be seeing Brenda on Monday and we will give each other a big hug and pretend you are in the middle of it.

Hi Judy, I am heading off to Orlando soon and probably won't be on the DisBoards much during my trip, but know I am thinking of and praying for you and your family! I'm sorry things are so chaotic and tough right now, but soon you will be off to the Sunshine State as well :goodvibes

I'm so glad to hear that Lisa is stable, but sorry that you had to say goodbye to your dear doctor. I pray that whoever takes over for him will continue with the same standard of care, and I am glad that you have his contact info to pick his brain when necessary. How frustrating that Rachel is still not showing improvement, but I am sure that being able to play her guitar for a bit probably helped to lift her spirits. We'll continue to pray about her healing.

Having computer issues, so I don't even know if this will post, but if it does, please know that we are thinking of and praying for all the requests here.

I am so glad to hear Lisa is stable, praying her appointments today go well. Many prayers as the transition to the new cardiologist takes place. Continuing prayers for Rachel. I'm glad she got guitar go-ahead. I bet that is helping her a lot!

I think it is okay for me to say that I am just waiting to hear that Bill made it safely.

:cheer2: for the great news about Lisa's heart! I hate that she is having to change Doctors since someone who knows the whole history is invaluable. He looks like a really great guy, along with having been a great doctor for Lisa! Thoughts and prayers for him and his wife! Sadly I think there is going to be many, many more problems than already being reported about our new "affordable healthcare" system. :scared:

Sorry that Rachel still hasn't improved much, but so glad she got to go play her guitar! I know how much that means to her, and I'm sure it was therapeutic! :goodvibes

Thanks for the update Judy! Hugs for the struggles and cheers for the blessings. Hope you have a day ( and a week, and a lifetime) of more blessings then struggles. Reading and praying along but very busy with life at the moment.

Debbie

:woohoo: about the great news from Lisa's check up! So glad that you'll be able to still call Dr. G for advice concerning Lisa if you need a second opinion in the future. Praying for good reports for the rest of Lisa's appointments too!

So glad that Rachel was given the okay with extra rest to have her guitar lesson last night. Praying that it will take her health in the right direction of healing!

Asking for prayers for my husband Billy as he goes in for cataract surgery in the morning! Praying for everyone here!

I hope Lisa's appointments go well today.

I'm glad you got a chance to see the doc for one last appointment and say goodbye.

JJ is still having tics that affect his whole body. He is not choking near as much. The newest one involves his legs and he can't stand or walk when that one comes on. I'm not liking that most of our house is either hard wood or ceramic tile.

We are seeing some improvement of the tics. They are lasting shorter periods of time, and many of the newer tics are much more traditional type tics I think of when I think of a tic. I think the calcium in the morning and magnesium at night, in addition to the doc taking him off the OCD med have helped. Today his OCD was running rampant.

Got a phone call this morning that there is an opening for him for an OT evaluation next week! Certainly answer to prayers. He goes back to the neurologist again next week too. Grumpy will be driving us there so I can be in the back with him. Grumpy comes home this weekend! He is ready.

How wonderful to hear that there were no changes to Lisa's heart and the surgeries are still off in the future. I know that it was great to have some sunshine in the midst of the sadness in knowing that this may be the last time you see Dr. G. At least you know that you can call upon him in an emergency and he'll be there for you and Lisa.

I am sure that Rachel was happy that she was given the go-ahead to play her guitar even if it were for only a while. As Marv posted, I am sure that it was therapeutic for her.

Sorry to hear about Lisa doctor. I know the feeling of losing a doctor you have had your whole life. It wasn't a specialist but I saw the same family doc from the time I was born until he retired a couple years ago. Still haven't managed to find a new one that I like as much as him. Hope that it helped to lift Rachel's spirits to play her guitar a little bit, even if it meant extra rest to do it. Hope that the rest of your week isn't to crazy. I know mine will be crazy. I drove to the doctor today and found out when I got there that it has been rescheduled to tomorrow because the doc didn't make it in, but no one bothered to call and tell me this. Drives me crazy when they do things like that. As always you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
