Way to go! Once moved in on your dime, its not a far reach for SIL to ask for money. My mom has delt with this in her family since she was a kid and her mother played favorites between her and her older brothers. Her brothers always getting whatever they wanted without having to lift a finger. Sad, but she, like you, learned early that they would take advantage at any opportunity (even now and they are in their 60s and 70s.) She learned a long time ago that she would never have a close relationship with her older brothers. Let the family talk all they want. You continue to grow the relationships with the 'normal' ones. You cant cure stupid.

His family is always asking to borrow money. I am not sure why, df never lends it to them. He did end up paying off all the parent plus student loans his parents defaulted on, and that was more than enough cleaning up after his irresponsible parents.

They seem to think because we have jobs that we must be loaded. Um NOPE! I wish!

It sounds like your MIL is still making excuses for her daughter. Until you MIL can treat her like an adult, she will never grow up.

My mother let a nephew and his wife live in one of her apartments and it ended in a family fight. Letting her live there could make your relationship worse!
