On the bridge to Marvel Super Hero Island, the heroes themselves came out to greet us!
Heres Captain America, Wolverine, and Spider-Man!
Okay, so thats me in the middle but Wolverine has always been my favorite so I had to wear his shirt.
In fact, this is the shirt I bought last time I was at Islands of Adventure so it was definitely appropriate.
Of course, our next guest loved it even more.
It was time to the real Wolverine!
(and he loved my shirt!)
The fanboy in me was having a blast.
So much so that I even decided to pose with a villain.
Of course, I had to make sure I had the upper hand!
Take that, Doctor Doom!
At the foot of the bridge, the heroes parked their vehicles.
On normal days, they ride these in a sort of hero parade down the streets of Marvel Island.
Now Marvel Island is basically one big comic book.
Over the top cardboard images of heroes, villains, and skylines surround you as you stroll the streets.
(Oh, and the occasion drink table for us conference guests

)
Off to the side, I caught site of the Fantasticar! (the vehicle used by the Fantastic Four)
With sirens blaring and lights flashing, I couldnt resist!
The party was just started and most guests had headed away from Marvel Island towards some of the coasters.
Which left the ultimate ride in the parks just for us!
It was time for the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man!
Okay, so this is by far the best ride around.
And, yes, Id even venture to say its better than anything in Walt Disney World.
After a fabulous queue where you basically enter a comic book, you learn that the Sinister Six is on the loose.
Thats a group of Spideys arch-enemies for those of you non-geeks.
And we are sent out as reporters of the Daily Bugle to capture the story.
So we don 3-D glasses and board our vehicle and set off on our adventure.
This ride is basically a cross between Soarin, Philharmagic, and Dinosaur!
Spidey takes you along for the ride as you meet villain after villain.
The car throws you around like the jeeps in Dinosaur swiveling and swirving all over.
All of the action is in 4-D activating all of your senses.
Theres water, theres fire, theres spinning, theres bumping, and theres even a simulated fall off a building.
The fall is so real that my wife has to close her eyes when we experienced it last time we were here.
This is my kind of ride the ultimate simulator.
I was in heaven!
After the ride, I was on Cloud 9

So I explored a bit as some of the gang headed off to the Incredible Hulk rollercoaster.
Across the street was a gigantic Wolverine overseeing an actual comic book store.
And, as I said earlier there were heroes and villains everywhere.
Iron Man was flying past a building nearby
Back on the ground, Magneto the Master of Magnetism was threatening the city so I had to jump in!
Back in the skies, The Green Goblin was launching pumpkin bombs into the crowd
But good ol Spidey was there waiting in the wings.
The group of us who was not on the Hulk coaster headed to Café 4 a restaurant themed after the Fantastic Four for some slices of pizza.
Not bad, not great but it was a nice pitstop.
We then found our friends and I found this really cool Hulk car:
Next to the Hulk coaster was Storm Force Accelerators.
Think Mad Tea Party.
This is basically an X-Men themed version of the teacups.
Lots of comic books pages surrounded the attraction:
And the cups were very X-themed:
Can you tell I was having a blast?
I was definitely letting out my inner geek.
Does that bring us to "The End?" Not even close!
Be sure to check out the next action-packed issue!
The gang finally gets me off Marvel Island and we explore the rest of the park!
