Walking out of Pixar Place, I wandered back towards the Animation Courtyard.
I had still yet to venture Under the Sea.
Since Ariel is my little princess favorite, this was a must-do.
And I took lots of pictures and video to bring back to Daddys little girl
There was no wait and the show was just about to start so I grabbed a seat with the 5 or so other people in the theatre.
And with the following video, the show began:

This show is amazing.
While Beauty and the Beast is a great broadway-style production, nothing compares to this.
It mixes live action, live songs, animation, puppetry, water effects, lighting effects, and lasers.
Yes lasers.
Immersed in a mix of blue lasers, dark lighting, animation, and sprinkles of water, you will swear that the entire theatre just went under water.
And who is there to greet you? Why, Sebastian of course!
Welcome to the opening musical number of the show!
With amazing black lights and puppetry, the puppets literally fly around the stage.
There are no strings and no puppeteers.
There are just your favorite characters from The Little Mermaid joined with a parade of other sea creatures to sing Under the Sea.
You barely notice when the screen lowers for the finale.
Because what better way to add even more sea creatures than animate them along with Sebastian
(sorry this one is a bit dark all of these were actually spliced from the video I shot)
It is a great opening and really gets you into the storyline.
Then, the curtain opens revealing the Little Mermaid herself.
She launches into a live rendition of Part of Your World
Ariel, of course, has a great voice and this sounds amazing.
Next up, its Ursulas turn.
Ursula is larger than life and can really give a scare to the little ones.
But she is really well done a great achievement in large-scale puppetry.
She makes her case to Ariel and offers to give her legs.
Of course, that means Ariel has to sing for me, my Angel of Music!
Authors Note okay, so who else thinks of Phantom of the Opera everytime they hear this line?
Here, there is a bit of a variation from Disneys story.
The actors disappear and we see the rest of the story via the large screen.
From Ariel in Prince Erics castle looking down longingly at Eric and his dog, Max
To the realization that Eric is under Ursulas spell
And the magic moment almost occurs as they lean in for a kiss
But Ursula is triumphant and Ariel does not kiss Eric within the 3 days.
Ursula grows large and mighty and it is up to Eric to destroy her by ramming his boat right into her like a sword.
The theatre darkens after a huge crescendo of music and lights and effects.
When the lights come back on, Ariel is back on her rock and once again a mermaid transformed when she failed to kiss Eric.
Eric is lying unconscious on the floor beside her and the scene looks grim.
Luckily, an animated King Triton and a puppet Sebastian (yes, all three types of actors are on stage at once) are looking on.
King Triton realizes that his daughter really loves Eric and he wants her to be happy.
So he raises his trident and it begins to sparkle
The sparkling grows and is then redirected at Ariel
The music gets louder and Ariel is magically lifted off her perch.
Smoke surrounds her
When the smoke clears, Ariel is standing there in her green dress complete with legs.
Even Ariel cannot believe it!
Then, Prince Eric awakes and realizes it was always Ariel that he loved.
She runs to him for an embrace as Max looks on
And then, my favorite part they look longingly into each others eyes as the movie kiss is portrayed behind them.
And Ariel and Eric finally kiss.
So why is this my favorite part you ask?
Is it because of the kiss? Am I just a big sentimental guy?
Nah I could care less.
But I almost laughed out loud when I saw how little this Ariel was in comparison to Eric.
Isnt that funniest thing youve ever seen?
It just seems so wrong
Anyway, the curtain falls and it was a great show.
As I said, I love the mixing of all the elements for the penultimate theatre production.
If you like the other princess shows at Walt Disney World, you must see this one.
It is truly an immersive experience and you feel like you are actually part of the movie.
The theatre emptied all 5 of us - and people headed for the gates.
Fantasmic! was probably getting out about now too.
But I knew the BVS shuttle was not scheduled to depart for some time and I wanted to explore Disney After Dark.
There were some old favorites I wanted to experience one more time.
Stay tuned for the days finale (finally!)
