No wbta 2013

Hi All

I just finished catching up on all 42 pages of messages. You are a chatty bunch which is great because I'm very quiet. I was interested in a TA cruise and after reading all these pages I knew that this cruise was the one for me. I've put in a request for a reservation whenever they open up the bookings.

My name is Debbie and I'm from MA. I'll probably be traveling solo but decided to book a double just in case I found someone who wanted to go along. I've been told it's easier to cancel a person than to add one on at a later date. So please add me to the roll call.

I was on the Inaugural Baltic cruise in 2010 and found that I loved a longer cruise. Looking forward to making some new friends in the next 21 months.

TTFN

:welcome: aboard Debbie. :)

I will add you to the roll call. :thumbsup2

Okay, now that it appears that our actual booking date is almost upon us, I have some questions!

I am going to book this as soon as I am able to book, so have gone from my original "definite maybe" to a "definite heck-yes-I-am-booking".

First question: Trip insurance. This is one trip I definitely plan to get travel insurance and other than Disney's plan. I want a "cancel for any reason" plan, and to do that I'll need to buy that fairly quickly after booking from my understanding.

My parents are already in their mid to late 80's and this is two years away. I've also had some health issues so want to make sure any pre-existing stuff is covered.

For the WBTA - what do you figure in? I won't know the actual flight costs, so I assume I'll need to estimate? Also for hotel stays and such - estimate? Would appreciate any input here.

Thank you - THIS IS OUR WEEK OF EXCITEMENT!

Second Question

(Meant to do it on the previous post so there was a second question - LOL - need more coffee...)

Okay. I will book online the second I can. Depending on the actual day they open the bookings to Silvers, I'll likely have to place a hold on the cruise until I can call and actually get a rep on the line to pay as it's likely I'm going to use Disney Gift cards. Is this the type of cruise that the price could jump rapidly within minutes and hours? I think a hold doesn't guarantee price?

So, it seems that there are some experienced cruisers on this thread! We have done a 3 night and 2 4 nights. We are looking at doing one of the transatlantic cruises. Why do the westbound over the eastbound....or does it really matter?

I am eyeing the potential one way Hawaii cruises (pure rumor!) My hubby likes the idea of Europe and thinks that this would be cheaper. Thoughts on the price? He is probably right!

I homeschool both kids, so either one works for us. I would have more time to pay on the westbound. You gain hours vs. losing hours. Anything else?

We have a dummy cruise booked just for this!! I need to finalize plans so that our travel agent can grab what we need when it opens up.

I sort of feel "wrong" for being excited about this cruise this morning after the news about the Costa ship....

Wonder if DCL will delay the announcement in Miami? (NOT trying to start rumors - I am just wondering if they'd hold back a bit because of the Costa incident?)

Sad for all those who lost lives, and had to go through that.

I still have faith in DCL, and still will be excited. Just had to comment that I sort of found myself feeling inconsiderate.

OK so Wednesday seems to be the date yeah!

I know someone was asking about Navigators but I wanted to share the one I did for the 2010 WBTA for people to see it as an idea:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0sxMUaqZSjqODIzYzIxNzEtYzVmMy00ZGFjLWFkM2ItZjc2YTAxZDViZGM5

Had a nose at cruise schedules and noticed that the Magic is on the St Maarten one (probably already mentioned somewhere here but missed it I think). Looking at dates between that and the Madiera TBA the dates fit well with the 2010 arrangement:

12th in Barcelona
13th at sea
14th in Gibraltar
15th at sea
16th in Madiera 9:30am - 7:15pm x
17th at sea
18th at sea
19th at sea
20th at sea
21st at sea
22nd in St Maarten 7am - 7pm x
23rd in Tortola
24th at sea
25th in Castaway Cay
26th in Port Canaveral

Question is though, would it be going back to Canaveral or Galveston and if so would this add an extra night? And would it start from Barcelona? Oh I really can't wait until Wednesday! So excited

Bye for now all

Sarah.... Thanks for all your hard work on possible date! YEAH:cool1:
My thought is... it's a transatlantic.. I dont care if it's PC or Galveston, i still have to go home!:headache:

That was a nice navigator. On the WBTA 2011 Noel did a great job.

About the Itinarary. The Fantasy is scheduled on the 22th in St Maarten, 23th in St Thomas, 25th in Castaway Cay and 26th in Port Canaveral.
Both in St Maarten is possible, but in Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral???
Any sugestions

LOL very good point! For us getting back from Canaveral is easier and we can get a WDW fix

So what time on Wednesday do you think we need to log in to the castaway club on the DCL website and the 2013 magic schedule will be available for booking?

Thanks.

Oh now will they actually be online to book? I haven't booked one for awhile but I thought Gold & Platinum members had to phone to book when it first opens and then it gets put on the web when they open it to everyone in which case it probably isn't going to be on Wednesday. I think they all open at 8am EST don't they when they do open up?

Good point but it is weirdly showing as both being in St Maarten on this one! Very odd!

Hadn't thought about the Fantasy schedule lol! If they took out Tortola could they make it to CC for the 24th? This would then give them extra time and if they are then going to Galveston I'm would give the extra time to possibly allow for a 14 night schedule - although I'm not 100% sure about the logistics and distances. I'm sure someone will correct me on this one?

I hope they don't return to Galveston, as that would make TWO flights for me. That would put a big crimp in my WBTA plans....

You & me both, babe!!! :goodvibes

Welcome aboard Debbie :thumbsup2 Long cruises are the best !!

SOOOOOO TRUE!!!! ::yes::

Ooooh!!! Good question... CANNOT WAIT!!!:cool1:

DCL COULD do a short repositioning cruise to Galveston if it returns to PC. That would work for many people? After all, some Europeans would use the WBTA to come here and maybe do a few days at WDW? So Galveston as the actual debark point doesn't make total sense?

Hi Folks!

Can anyone remember how similar/different the cruise prices were for the TA and the PC cruises?

Also, if one books DVC do you have to book two in a room, or just one ok? We have to get two cabins and not enough DVC points for everyone, but I'd rather have just one person in one cabin and the rest in another cabin because I am hoping to get a nice discount on rebooking while onboard in October. Best way to do this?

Thanks!
Carolynn

Why do the westbound over the eastbound....or does it really matter?
Daisy

Daisy,

Didn't mean for you to get lost in the shuffle! Just a lot going on. Many like the Westbound because of the 25 hour days. There is an hour gained most days on the way back. The opposite is true on the Eastbound - an hour is lost.

I know the EB has it's own fans! :goodvibes

I personally want to get the long flight over with at first, spend a few days to get adjusted and sightsee, and then go on the cruise.

We found the same thing: getting the flight over with at the beginning and the shorter trip home at the end. We LOVED the 25 hour days - what a treat!

Do one way distant foreign port rules if it starts and ends different places rules apply?. It would make for a unique cruise. They could come up with a fantastic option.

Not sure why, but I am thinking the WBTA 2013 will return to Miami (np Port Canaveral double ship) to both get the WDW advantage and be ready for the winter.

Thinking that after Alaska is done the Wonder will eastPC 2013 and spend that winter out of Galveston.

Trading spaces would make more sense than ending the WBTA in Galveston.
But I am just giving a guess based on logic of what would make mileage sense. It may not make cruising sense, although I did suggest the one way Hawaii to tie into Aulani and they seem to be doing that. !!??
