No Ticker Needed, I Live 10 Mins From WDW!! (9/9/12)

I love 50's. I tried to hide my green beans under my napkin and got tattled on by our "cousin" at the other table so I got a green bean sundae for dessert. If you were at MK on October 1st like I was I know what nightmare you were talking about! We could barely move. We finally left and went to the Poly to watch Wishes from there.

Shame on your dad trying to hide food! :lmao: That's my favorite thing about 50's PTC. I love the fact that they're so into it. You'll see on my TR for July, but my mom actually got FED by our server.

Osborne Lights start November 8 or 9?! That's exciting!

I know haha!!! He does play along when he wants to! It's so out of his character so it's nice to see once in a while. All the other times he's just a big/bad accountant! The lights start Nov 10th!!!

The green beans are very yummy!! The carrots..not so much, they were like a mix of hot/cold..not good! I wish we would have gone to Poly too!

40TH ANNIVERSARY..THE WORST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!

Hi Dis Friends! I don't typically update during the week but I got all of my progress reports done that are due Friday so I get to relax during my evenings!!

Some news..

*Thanks to SW and their current sale, I was able to change my flight home at Thanksgiving and fly home on Sunday instead of Monday night!! I'm super happy and I only paid $11 more! I'm going to keep stalking for Saturday..Sorry that has nothing to do with WDW! :rotfl:

**My friend B and I are going to eat at Chef Mickey's on Thursday! She still has her CM Xmas coupons so we're going to use her 40% and eat there. She wanted Ohana but of course they are booked!

NOW FOR THE REPORT...

SATURDAY OCT 1, 2011

When we left off, we were hanging out at the pool before heading to MK. Dad sat in the shade and read from his Kindle and Mom and I soaked up the sun! They were having the pool games and the kids looked to be having a blast!

By 5pm, we headed out for MK! The bus took 15 mins..not bad!

039.jpg

Once again..I did an epic fail as a Diser and only took 2 pics the whole night!

When we got there, Dad wanted to wait for Bro to get off work and get to MK to eat dinner but by 8pm he was still waiting to park at CR to walk over and so we ate without him..

chh.jpg

Mom and I split the chicken fingers basket and the fish basket. They no longer have the mix of chix and fish..sad day! I don't know what Dad got..maybe the fish?? When he finished, he went to PVH to get Bro his dinner and we were to meet up for fireworks for the 40th Anniversary.

AND THAT'S WHERE IT ALL WENT SOUTH..

We walked to the castle area and there were MASSES OF PEOPLE. I won't go into details but we all bascially ended up watching Wishes from different locations. Bro was near the ice cream cart, dad was in front of him in that general area. Mom was near Caseys, and I was near the tip board. We literally could not move up or down it was nuts. My phone was near it's battery death so I stayed put.

They did the castle show followed by Wishes. Wishes was supposed to have a "special" ending and by that we thought an added song and what-not. OH NO, IT WAS A FEW EXTRA FIREWORKS TO THE SIDES LIKE THEY DO AT MNSSHP AND MVMCP. At that point, I had wished we had watched from the Poly.

After Wishes, I was able to meet up with Mom and it took us 45 MIN TO GET FROM THE TIP BOARD TO DOLE WHIPS..and by that I mean the Dole Whips in Adventureland  Dad and Bro were lucky and were on the middle path between Caseys and Liberty Square bridge and took them about 15 mins. Friends of mine went to Tomorrowland and it took them about 15 mins as well but mom and I 45 mins!! Not once did we see any managers outside attempting to help and they were not expecting such a crowd. I kept saying, someone is gonna get fired tomorrow! Xmas, New Years, and 4th of July can't be much worse!!

Anyways, we went to Front.land and got in position to watch MEP which was delayed 30min. We rode a few more rides and left at midnight.

Once again sorry for the lack of pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UP NEXT...

**HOW MANY ADRS CAN WE MAKE/CANCEL IN A 2 HOUR PERIOD FOR LUNCH THE SAME DAY??!!!

**SICKNESS STRIKES ME!!!!

If I were to have been there that day, I am pretty sure I would have had a nervous breakdown. Sounds so horrible. I would love to see crowd photos, but I can imagine how bad it would have been.

45 minutes to get from the tip board to the dole whips!? Unheard of! I could imagine it was absolutely insane there. I mean, it was a big day!

I got there at 9:30 am and thay actually started the character parade and then some big wigs talked and that was all there was to it. I thought there would be a lot more to it than that. I got my son and I a pin and a map (since he refused to get out of bed that early) and a celebration cupcake (that I never ate lol). The crowds were crazy!

Oh wow, you were definitely not having it with crowds, but I can't believe how it occured at MNSSHP. From what I hear that rarely ever happens, but at least you still got to enjoy what you could and had fairly nice days :thumbsup2

I hope you and Danielle have a lot of fun together. I guess it adds new meaning to her semi-solo trip haha Can't wait to read about the shenanigans you two get into! (:

Uggghhh... you get sick again? :sad2: Well, hopefully it wasn't too bad.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I think had my dad known there was going to be a ceremony/special items to buy we might have skipped DHS for it but after seeing crowd pics, I'm glad we didn't!!

Typically the parties are not that busy but now I know what to expect if we go to a sold out party. When we go to MVMCP, we either have the choice of going to a Friday party (2nd to last party) or Sunday..the very last party so I have a feeling at some point, one if not both will be sold out!

I KNOW WE'RE HERE FOR FOOD AND WINE BUT HOW MANY ADRS CAN I MAKE/CANCEL IN ONE HOUR?!?!

Hi Dis Friends!!

The weekend is almost here, yay!!!

Let me tell you the drama of yesterday...

Once upon a time, it all started with getting off work early and attempting to drive home. While leaving Celebration and turning onto World Drive, my car decided to die!! I managed to pull to the side of the road, called my parents, called AAA, and called my roommate. She came to sit with me and it took AAA 1 hour/5min to get there but he arrived and was nice! We decided to tow the car to Pep Boys in Celebration so we get ready to head there, start roomie's car and HER CAR IS DEAD!! What they hey?! So AAA jumped her car and we made it to P.B. P.B changed her battery, did a diagnostic on mine, and we walked to Chick Fil A to eat/wait. We got her car back, went across the street to Enterprise to rent a car for me...closed. We got next to them to a Dollar/Thrifty and they are open and I get a Ford Focus. While leaving I get a call saying it will be $700 to fix including spark plugs, spark wires, etc. Anyways, after we got home, we decided to walk out our frustrations so we went to Epcot to walk and listened to Sugar Ray at Eat to the Beat. Talk about a crazy night! I got my car back today and all is good. I'm thankful for great/supportive parents..that's for sure!!!

Anyways...I'll be back this weekend to report on all of our character meals the past few days + my mini weekend with Danielle but I'll finish this up for now..

SUNDAY OCTOBER 2, 2011

When we left off, we were sleeping in our beds at CSR.

At 7:30am, the alarm went off!

Even though we were going to Epcot for Food and Wine, I really wanted to eat a TS restaurant there so I got on my BB and noticed there was a lunch at Coral Reef. I asked mom if we could go and she said yes. I asked dad and he said "I DON'T CARE, THAT'S FINE"..remember that for later on!

By 8:15am, we were out the door to get something quick at the Cafe at CSR. I think I got the croissant with bacon, eggs, and cheese. It was good! After a super quick breakfast, we headed to Epcot!!

040.jpg

When we got there, the park was already opened but we headed right for Soarin. We debated a FP but opted to ride standby which took about 20-25 mins.

After Soarin' Dad decides that he doesn't want to eat at CR so off to Guest Relations we go to see what they do have. The ended up booking us an ADR at Tutto for lunch and we cancelled CR. Then we're walking out and Dad says again he's not in the mood for Italian so we cancel Tutto and rebook with Chefs De France. We're good with that and head to TT. We rode TT twice and in the meantime, we texted bro of our lunch plans and he says he doesn't want Chefs so we cancel again and rebook China. After riding Soarin' again, I decide to check one more time to see if Le Cellier happened to pop up..YA RIGHT....BUT...

LE CELLIER POPPED UP!!!! I pretty much overrode every decision that dad and bro tried to make and we ended up with a 12:30pm ADR at Le Cellier!

041.jpg

I was too distracted to take pics bc I was dealing with all the ADR Drama. It's supposed to be food and wine yet we're dealing with ADRs..go figure!

042.jpg

After Soarin' Bro came and we headed to our ADR!

043.jpg

044.jpg

images1.jpg

We checked in and waited about 10 mins after our ADR to get seated. We were seated and were given one of the best servers I've had at WDW. She and my family talked about hockey and football! I didn't take any food pics but pulled out some older ones.

Dad and bro shared some tomato apptz. Mom got a cup of soup and I got the Pick 3 option with the bowl of soup:

images.jpg

We got 3 or 4 rounds of bread! They no longer put them in the little holder though!

images4.jpg

For meals: Dad-chix salad, Mom-chicken crepe, Bro-gnooci, and I got the sirloin.

We all enjoyed what we got and I was sad to not get the Fillet but with not being on the DDP, I felt bad getting a nearly $27 steak..maybe next time!

For dessert, I was the only one and I got:

images2.jpg

The rest of my fam wanted to save their stomachs for food and wine. I on the other hand could careless so I was glad I went with the 3 course meal!

After lunch, Mom, Dad, and Bro decided to walk WS and I took my car and headed back to CSR to sunbathe!

An hour later, the trio came back and joined me at the pool!!!

Around 5/6 we headed back to Epcot to tackle Food and Wine. I wasn't planning on getting much but I go way more than what I thought!!

046.jpg

047.jpg

048.jpg

I want one of these Duffys!!!!

050.jpg

Getting food...

053.jpg

055.jpg

We got something at Ireland:

056.jpg

The UK show distracted Dad and Bro so they watched while mom and I window shopped!

057.jpg

058.jpg

France stop!

059.jpg

I also got the Ravioli and pumpkin shooter.

Half way around WS I started feeling sick. My eyes were watering like crazy, my throat was sore, and my nose was also a mess. I got to Mexico and decided to leave which was around 7pm'ish. I left the trio at Epcot and took the bus back since bro drove us to Epcot.

I made a stop at the Cafe to get a sandwich since I was slightly hungry but ate 2 bites and put it in the fridge. I ended up taking meds and falling asleep. I felt awful since my parents were leaving the next day + I had to work so I was pretty emotional and still felt horrible the day they left.

MONDAY OCT 3, 2011

I got up feeling horrible still and was sad to say goodbye but I was brave as we said our goodbyes after a breakfast at the CSR Cafe.

The trio ended up spending the rest of their day by getting bro's FL plates, going to the bank (near MCO), they checked out of CSR, and went to DTD for shopping and ate at Earl before heading to MCO.

It was a nice short trip...not long enough for me so I'm looking foward to going home at Thanksgiving!!!

Sorry for the lack of pics during this TR but I promise, the next one will contain tons!!!!!!

That stinks about the car situation! I am with you, it's so great to have supportive and helpful parents in these situations.

That was a whole lot of ADRs you booked and subsequently cancelled! But that's awesome that in the end you were able to get Le Cellier!

I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well by the end of the day. :( I would have been sad too if that happened to me on the day that my parents were leaving.

Just about two weeks!

Whoa, that is crazy about the cars! I am pretty sure my sister went to the Sugar Ray concert too. haha

Yay for being able to get in at Le Cellier and that you had an awesome server.

Those F&WF Duffys are super cute (but then again aren't they all...I have a feeling one of these days I'm going to cave and get one :rolleyes1).

Only 8 days until I'm in WDW. Any park plans? Maybe we'll somehow cross paths!

I hate car trouble. Especially when it comes with a hefty price tag! I hope your car is good to go now for a while. It's too bad you felt crappy by the end of your family visit. I'm sure you're looking forward to Thanksgiving now. Just stay healthy!

:) Things are well now. I got my flu shot, so hopefully I'm good to go! I need to call to add a room request to my ressie except my friend D is looking to see if she can upgrade me to CSR which I'll always take an upgrade!!

Ya he was good!! Boyz II Men is next week and I think I'm going Monday and Wednesday! My AP expires on Tues so I'll either take care of that this weekend or on Monday :) I'll let you know about any park plans!!

Thanks!!! The check engine light came on today and I might need $600 more of repairs but I'm able to drive it. My dad hopes that with the repairs they did that it just bumped something and it will be fine to trade it in in Dec!

PRINCESS DINNER IN NORWAY!!

HAPPY FRIDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!!!

**I have decided to do an ongoing chapter of restaurant reviews. I figured there are times where I eat at WDW/Universal and aren't staying on property so why not having a section for restaurant reviews! You can see the restaurant section on page one! I'm going to try my best when reviewing!!!

I hope everyone had a good week! My car seemed to be fixed today which was good but as I was leaving work at 12 to get my Flu Shot, and my check engine light came on..eeek!!!! I went to grab lunch, got my flu shot, and headed back to Pep Boys. I guess the issues is something else now (catalytic converter?!) but the car is drivable but they can't say how long it will be until it's clogged. I was looking to get a new Honda at the beginning of the year as mine will be 12 years old at that point but now we might be car hunting in Dec instead!

I had a Dis meet tonight!! Michelle (EXWDWCM) and her family met me at DHS and we went on GMR and Muppets! It was nice meeting up with them!!

Now for the next review!!!!!

THURSDAY OCTOBER 13, 2011

My cousins were in town from Ohio so my bro and I had plans to meet up with them. Later on that day while I was still working, they sent a text that said they were going to a seminar and would text when done. I had had a Cape May Cafe ADR made (to eat and park at BC) but bro wasn't in the mood so when he arrived at Epcot we were on a mission to find and ADR and what does he pick....

010-1.jpg

I said to him ' YOU WANT TO EAT THERE???!!!' He had never eaten there before so he was pretty psyched so we made the ADR and off we went to meet my cousins and eat at Norway!

001-1.jpg

002-1.jpg

My cousins came for food and wine so they didn't join us but we did walk around with them while they sampled. At 6:30pm, we checked in for our ADR as they went to listen to Eat to the Beat.

011-1.jpg

We checked in and were called within 10 mins. I totally forgot to take a pic of the Belle pic that we got but it was cute! We sent the big one and one 5x7 to mom + dad. Grandma/Grandpa got a 5x7 and bro and I each kept one.

012-1.jpg

We were seated at the most random table in the middle of the area but it was close to the cold buffet so bro was in heaven!

013-1.jpg

Please excuse my outfit, had I known that I was going to Norway, I would have kept my dress on from work!!!

014-1.jpg

We ordered a Coke Zero and Iced Tea and headed for the cold buffet. I had one plate, bro had 2!

015-1.jpg

For Entrees, Bro got the meatballs and I got the steak dish. Both were amazing and yummy but we didn't get a whole lot.

017-1.jpg

018-1.jpg

The cold buffet was a hit for bro! I enjoyed it as well :)

Finally the princesses started to arrive!! The came pretty quickly one right after another...

021-2.jpg

022-2.jpg

023-2.jpg

024-2.jpg

Dessert arrived which was amazing. I wasn't fond of the rice pudding but the other two were wonderful!

025-2.jpg

As we were eating dessert, the princess parade began!

026-2.jpg

027-2.jpg

028-2.jpg

029-2.jpg

Finally Ariel arrived and was the best out of all of the princesses!

030-2.jpg

031-2.jpg

She insisted on getting a pick together!

032-2.jpg

After she left, we paid the bill. I used my TIW card which was a great savings and well worth the price we paid!

It was a fun night and an unexpected meal!!!

REVIEW:

NEW/OLD: New restaurant for Bro, Old for me!

PRICE: 2 ADULT DINNERS $82.74 TOTAL INCLUDING TIP PAID OOP USING TIW CARD

I gave the restaurant a 4/5. I loved my food but wish there were more of my main dish. I'm 50/50 on the cold fish buffet! I loved the dessert trio (minus the rice pudding).

Bro gave the restaurant a 5/5. He loved the food, all of the food, and wasn't able to finish his 2nd plate from the cold buffet.

We loved that the pictures were included!!

We will go back!!

Haha, that font in that update totally threw me off for a second. I thought I was looking at a DOS. :lmao:

Akershus has been popping up in so many updates I've been reading. I really need to make an effort to go back there. I've hesitated because I really loved the restaurant when it was the full on buffet with no princesses. I guess I've just been nervous about the change.

HAHA too funny that your bro wanted to go there! I am glad it was a good meal. So nice to have connections at TT.

Akershus is a favorite of ours too! We only made it to Norway for lunch on our last trip but I made sure I got the rice pudding, it's my favorite:lovestruc

Great pictures of you both with the princesses! Hope your car doesn't end up costing you a fortune!

Haha sorry, I guess that does ring a bell now!!

It was a good meal. My mom felt bad bc bro couldn't make our 50s lunch a few weeks ago so she agreed to pay for this meal and bro was thrilled with that! He's on this quest to eat at all the Epcot restaurants just like I did a few years ago when I was an intern and lived here. It's a great goal to reach! He's pretty much almost done except both Italian, new Mexico, and Garden Grill!

HAHA too funny that your bro wanted to go there! I am glad it was a good meal. So nice to have connections at TT.

It was a great meal! It's so funny because it's been a year now since Bro was let go by WDW and that night at Epcot there was only 1 CM that he knew. I guess a lot have left or gone to other places of employment. We were thankful to skip the 40 min line!

Thanks!! The car is a "hot mess" for sure! I went to Honda yesterday to kind of scope out cars but it was pretty much a wasted trip since I don't plan on looking again till Dec but I've pretty much decided on a new Civic although my roommate has a Mazda which I really like as well! We'll see :)

EARL OF SANDWICH HOLIDAY SANDWICH, TUSKER HOUSE LUNCH, AND CONTEMPO CAFE DINNER!!!

OCTOBER 15, 2011

I spent the day at TL but it was pretty chilly (low 80s that day!) so I decided to call it quits early and head to DTD to start making my Xmas list and to get the Holiday Sandwich at Earl!!

039-2.jpg

040-2.jpg

Saw this for Duffy..too cute!!

042-2.jpg

When I got to Earl, I ordered the holiday sandwich, root beer, strawberry shortcake, and got a cookie. I didn't get the cranberries on the sandwich.

043-2.jpg

044-2.jpg

REVIEW:

NEW/OLD: Old for me and I love it!

PRICE: EVERYTHING TOGETHER IT WAS $10.99 WHICH I PAID OOP WITH A GIFT CARD.

I gave the meal a 5/5. The sandwich is amazing and so yummy!

I will be going back!!!

SUNDAY OCTOBER 16, 2011

My brother and I had made plans to go to AK for the day to see some shows and ride some rides. I also made a lunch ADR at Tusker House for lunch including the Finding Nemo seats!

046-2.jpg

050-1.jpg

064.jpg

Our ADR was for 1:20 with the 3:15 FN show. We checked in right at the time and were seated by 1:45. They were on a wait but it wasn't a huge deal.

067.jpg

At the podium we got our FN ticket.

068.jpg

069.jpg

We were given a table for 2 in the corner.

071.jpg

I ordered a Diet Coke and bro got iced tea.

070.jpg

Dessert:

074.jpg

After the meal, we booked it to FN show. We went in a separate entrance, gave up our seating card and were given pretty decent seats. The space filled up rather quickly though so if we were 5-10 mins later, I have no idea where our seats would have been. If you do this package, make sure if you are cutting it close for the show, you ask to switch to the 4:15 show instead!

REVIEW:

NEW/OLD: New for both bro and I

PRICE: $45.39 TOTAL FOR 2 ADULTS INCLUDING TIP. WE PAID OOP AND USED TIW CARD.

I gave the meal a 3/5. I wasn't too thrilled with it. It kept me full for the day but I won't go back anytime soon. The service was pretty good for buffet standards but there were tons of empty tables that needed cleared and were on a wait of 20-45mins past your ADR.

Bro gave the meal a 4/5. He had 5 or 6 plates and enjoys the African food but would eat at other buffets over TH.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 16, 2011

After AK, I headed to MK to have a Dis meet with Erin, Toby, and Olivia!! After hanging with them for a few hours, they stayed for MNSSHP and I headed to CR to eat dinner at Contempo Cafe.

I ordered a fish sandwich, fountain drink (didn't have my mug with me), and rice krispie treat.

081.jpg

REVIEW:

New/Old: New for myself (I still wish the had Concourse Steakhouse there, it was by far my favorite restaurant in WDW!!!)

PRICE: 17.65, PAID OOP (NO DISCOUNT).

Overall, I gave the meal a 4/5.

I couldn't believe that the rice krispie treat was $3.99..eek!!! I won't be getting that again unless I'm on a DDP!!! It was fresh which was good!

The fish sandwich was good but you didn't need the bread. It was grilled and had good flavoring! The fries were good too and complemented the semi spicy fish!
