Yup, I agree. I really don't understand why Disney gets a pass when they build screen focused rides but Universal gets immediate criticism when they do it. Yes, I agree that Fast and the Furious, Kong Skull Island (or whatever that ride is called) and Jimmy Fallon are terrible rides. They deserve the criticism. But when Disney makes, for example, Runaway Railway which is 98% screen based it's different? Even great rides like Flight of Passage entirely rely on screens. I'm not saying screen based rides are bad. A lot of these rides with screens are perfectly fine. I just get slightly annoyed when people criticize Universal when, if anything, Disney is copying Universal.

MMRR you are actually moving. You are not sitting still with the screens changing. No way anyone gets sick on MMRR. Screen-based rides are not necessarily bad if they are well done bad Spider man is a great ride and so is FOP. The old star wars ride is just blah, and I used to think it was great, but technology has improved. For me, it's the fact that King Kong and Fast and Furious are new and they are so bad. Universal should have done better there. I know they are capable of it.

If not getting sick is the definition of a good ride the Guardians is awful.

I mean, if you want to be pedantic, you could say that Cosmic Rewind is basically just a combination of Gringotts and Revenge of The Mummy and that Sea World were using the trackless technology for their Antarctica penguin ride in 2013 before Remy even opened in DLP in 2014.

I guess I just don’t see how pointing out areas where Disney can improve = being a hater. I love Disney. I have three trips currently planned there for this year and next year but that doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to criticise how things are currently being run or handled by upper management. You can still love something and criticise it at the same time. I only criticise these things because of how much I love Disney and are disappointed in the direction it’s going in now.

Yeah I do agree with you in that Kong and Fast and the Furious are bad. I just think Runaway Railway isn't that great either. It seems like it has SO much empty space. I think Universal are turning it around. They permanently closed Shrek, another screen based experience and in Orlando their two newest rides have little to no screens. And I'm not a Disney hater. I just don't really want screen based rides to be the norm since as a theme park Disney is well known for their animatronic based experiences.

If anyone was to read this whole thread they would have a difficult time finding anything positive about Disney written here. It's 90% negative. It surprises me that people would still go feeling as they do. There are so many great places to travel. Geez, my upcoming Europe trip cost less than what most people spend at Disney.

Since our first trip 2010, they've added Galaxy's edge(two rides) Pandora(2 rides) MMRR, slinky dog, Remi, Frozen, Mine train, Guardians, and soon-to-be Tron. I may be forgetting something. I feel like there's been a lot added over the years.

To be fair, a lot of what you say was "added" are simply new attractions replacing older ones.

Yeah so Minnie and Mickey did set off my motion sickness thought much more minor compared to Remy. Some parts I needed to close my eyes which is what I do when the motion sickness starts. Remy I doubt I'll ever do again and Minnie and Mickey I could probably stand once a trip.

Yes there are ways people get sick on screen based rides regardless of what you may think, it all depends on the individual person.

Not that I have anything to justify to you, but there’s still a lot that I love and enjoy about the parks as a whole that keeps me coming back and I will admit that a lot of that is also nostalgia based because we came over from the U.K. every year when I was kid and Orlando was our main holiday.

We all understand nothing lasts forever and that change is inevitable but it doesn’t mean we have to mindlessly agree with those changes and not criticise some of the more controversial choices that are currently being made to keep the parks afloat.

My mom got motion sick on Remy when she didn't put her glasses on. The first time she rode it, she took her glasses off and put the 3D glasses on and felt horrible afterwards. Second time she rode, she put the 3D glasses over hers and felt perfectly fine. Motion sickness effects people in different ways I guess.

I would not say that there has been a huge net gain in attraction capacity whereas park attendance has skyrocketed in the same time period. 50.1 million people annually in 2013 when FP+ was introduced. Over 58 million by 2019.

I am a glasses wearer - but kept both pairs on - I want to like the ride, but I can also sit it out in Paris and sip on a little wine and harass the guest services CMs with a bunch of questions, while borrowing their umbrella

If people don't speak with their wallets then expect nothing to change. You can complain all you want on a fan board, but if you continue to give them your money then you're accomplishing nothing. I went made the best of it and had a great time. I won't be going back until some improvements in genie plus are made, Tron is open, and room discounts return. It's not a hard decision to make. I'm not here to defend Disney, but I've never had a bad WDW vacation. There is a limit to what I am willing to spend though and I think I've hit my limit. A Disney ship is my happy place anyway.

oh gawd I hate Atlanta traffic! Never can get through there without it. Last time we were there (coming back from a road trip not Disney) and someone hit our suv and ran off disappearing into the lanes full of traffic. We fly to Orlando but I've done the drive before.
