Got an email from DCL today. We are crusing in August on the Wish.
I wonder why they have different fireworks for 3 vs 4 day cruises?

"And don’t forget to join some of your favorite Disney friends and the ship’s Captain and Cruise Director for a special anniversary toast. As a reminder, the 25th Anniversary fireworks show will not be offered on 3-night cruises. The fireworks presentation during your cruise will be our popular Pirate’s Night fireworks, weather permitting"

The 25th-anniversary fireworks are a second show in addition to pirate night. I assume they do not want to do fireworks on the first or last night of the cruise.

Oh, that makes sense. I hadn't realized that it was an additional show.

So does that mean on the three night there will be a pirate night firework show? I always thought there was no pirate night on three nights so that you could enjoy the theming at each dinner location.

I love fireworks and when I got the same email I was disappointed for sure. Just another reason I WISH I had just booked the four nights instead.

There is no Pirate Night dinner menu on 3-night cruises, but there are Pirate Night deck parties, and, weather permitting, fireworks.

The ship needs to be a certain distance from shore and traveling below a certain speed to safely set off fireworks. It’s likely that on the 3-night cruises the ship is not positioned properly to do fireworks on two nights.

I just did a 3 night cruise on the Magic last week and we had the Pirate Fireworks on night 2 and the Silver Anniversary fireworks on night 3, so they have done it. They may add them if they can? There was nothing on the schedule for night 3 until mid afternoon when they announced they would be having them that evening. You may get them yet.

Edit: I should add that this was the first 25th anniversary sailing on the Magic so that could have played a factor.

What itinerary was that? I think part of it depends on where the ship is in relation to land-if they're too close, they can't shoot off the fireworks.

Interesting! They must have been able to get far enough away from Nassau then to do them on night 3.
That would make sense. This was an unusual itinerary -- most 3-night cruises go to/from Port Canaveral. Miami is closer to Nassau than Port Canaveral is, so the ship could get far enough away from port to set off fireworks and still make it back in time for debarkation.
