Just got back from Disney. We flew from W. Palm Beach to Baltimore on Southwest. Anyway, the screening morons wouldn't let us bring our snow globes on our carry on luggage. Luckily, we had a bag we could check, but I had to go to another level of the airport and do that.

Be careful and pack it right and put it in your suitcase, or you may have to leave it at the airport.

I was going to mention something about this as well as I saw a family have the same problem when I was travelling this weekend. Apparently if it is a large snow globe with a significant amount of liquid inside they would prefer that you place it in your checked baggage. Again, I didn't actually experience this myself as the op did, but did over see the situation at the security check. Guess the best is just to check it until more is known.

Why are the TSA people "morons?" How dare you! They are following the rules from higher up, and trying to keep us safe. It's not like they made up their own rule. Just because YOU didn't think about the fact that a snow globe has liquid in it doesn't make someone else a moron, know what I mean?!

There might be a moron in this story, but it's not the TSA. (And everyone on the Transportation board KNOWS I dislike the TSA!)

What part of the liquid rules did you see that allowed you to bring a snow globe on? I am pretty sure that's liquid in the globe. If it isn't 3 oz container in a baggie or a prescription med it's not allowed. The rules don't change because "pixie dust" makes snow globes safe!

Also, I would suggest having Disney mail these to you as opposed to having them checked. If yours survived the handling of your local baggage guy you were probably lucky. Disney packs for shipping and will replace it if the globe is damaged in shipping.

Just ship them right from the store save on taxes so the shipping is not that bad even though it went up.We just had one shipped in OCT.

Yes no liquids means no liquids.and at least they are being constitant with the rules.

The moron is the passenger who thought they break the, very publicized, rules.

LOOK IN A MIRROR.

Hey, CleveRocks - I think the OP meant they were unexpectedly surprised, yet ultimately grateful, that the TSA people are preventing over-the-limit liquids from being carried into the passenger compartment of the plane.

Yeah calling them Morons conveyed that!

Your impression is not mine. IF you are pleased with the way the TSA is acting you don't call them morons. (Trust me I am generally displeased, but if they are consistent then I am happy. I think the agency is run by Idiots however! LOL!)

Carol, I'm pretty certain that Ronda had her sarcastic New England tongue planted very deeply in her cheek. ;)

Having just flown back from Orlando yesterday, it was mentioned all over the news and several places in the airport that the popular Disney Snow Globes were not allowed on carry on. It was drilled into us numerous times and we weren't even at Disney the whole week (spent the week at Universal) :teeth:
