No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems: A Tremendously Tropical PTR

Speaking of DD... I have to share this with you. I walked into the kitchen the other day and found her 'itinerary' on a clipboard, stuck to the fridge! She told me that she had written down some things that we could do on the cruise. This totally cracked me up! I think my overplanning is creating a monster. :rolleyes1

I wonder what we are doing with the 'flaminggos' at 10:00! :rotfl:

Memom, I think you have started a 'mingo' revolution here on the DIS! :lmao:

It's official. The mingo is the official mascot of DISkids United. :thumbsup2

And your daughter is the secretary for DISkids meetings. Looks like she has a good handle on organization - learning listmaking skills beautifully straight from her mom. ;)

We will certainly look forward to your mingo visit. Bella will love the pictures. :goodvibes

I'll be interested in seeing what comes home with her from the 8:00 gift shop visit. :)

I was referring to the regular tea for everyone. I certainly couldn't afford the other one either!! It's like $200!! Was the Alice one reasonable?

It was only $25 when I checked into for our last trip, but this time it was $40. I still don't think that's bad though, but DD is paying for it with her own money. She has been saving up for a while.

 I'll let her know she has been nominated as secretary! I'm sure she will be more than happy to accept!

I really have no idea where she thinks we are going to see mingos. I hope she's happy with the ones at AK because they are the only ones I am expecting to see!

Just catching up again. I might have to go look at that thread too. I have so many pictures saved for t-shirts and magnet already. (and my notes) LOL! :lmao:

I lover her list. I want to go to Flamingos at 10 too...sounds like it could possibly fun...especially since she wrote it so big.

There are some awesome ideas on that thread. In fact, I found one for a CC Christmas ornament over there that I am going to make for myself. The lady took a clear glass ball ornament and filled it with a little sand from CC and a few tiny shells. Then she put a few plastic red and green Mickey head beads in there too and tied it with some pretty ribbon at the top. It is so so cute! I'll post a picture of mine when I get back. I've already bought the glass ball from Micheal's. All I need is the sand and Mickey heads.

I think the prettiest thing on that thread are the glass tile necklaces. It's just like the bottle cap necklaces that are popular now, except the art is done on a glass tile. SUPER pretty!

This update is going to be short and sweet.

Day five of our Disney trip will be spent at Hollywood Studios.

This is probably our least favorite park. DH likes it more than DD and I, but we all still enjoy the other parks more. Because of this, we will be using this day to take a break and chill out a little. I am pretty certain that we will sleep in and get a late start on this day. In fact, we might just take this opportunity to spend some time at CBR. We may spend a few hours at the pool or taking a stroll around the grounds on the surrey bikes. Whatever we decide to do, it will be at a leisurely pace. I'm sure by this point in the trip we are going to be totally exhausted anyway.

The only thing that is a must do for us this time at HS is Fantasmic!

We haven't seen the show since 2008. We all loved it when we went 3 years ago and we're so excited to see it again. I booked the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose for 5:00. I'm not sure though if that was even necessary. My DH HATES waiting in line and I knew that he wouldn't want to stand there for an hour or more, so that's why I booked the package. However, I'd prefer to use my dining credits elsewhere, so I'm debating whether or not we should do it. We still have to go to the theater at least 30 minutes before showtime even with the package, so I don't know if it's worth it. I would love hear your opinions on this.

I'd also like to know what you all think about the Backlot Tour??? That is the only thing that we haven't ridden at HS (except TOT and we are all too chicken to ride that!). I'm wondering if it is something that we should really try to do or if it's just an ok attraction.

I know it is shocking, but that is all I have planned for our HS day! I can hardly believe it myself! We are just basically going to do whatever sounds fun and not stress out if we don't get much done. I'd love to get to ride TSM and some other things as well, but I have no idea if time will permit that. I guess it will depend on the weather and crowds. We'll see. No matter what we do, I know it will be a great day!

Up next: Another Epcot day!

Would you believe I've never seen Fantamic at WDW, I've seen the one in DL, but have never had the desire to wait in that long line to see it at DHS. So, if you do end up doing the dining packing I'll be curious to hear if you think it is worth it or not.

I've done the Backlot Tour, but only once. I haven't done it again, not because we didn't enjoy it, but because we usually limit our time in DHS and we try and use that time to hit our favorites. If you have a chance, I'd do it, just to say you have, everything is worth experiencing once :thumbsup2

I'd say go for the Backlot Tour, it's fun to see the behind the scenes movie props and if you don't have a whole lot on your agenda for this day I would say it's worth doing at least once.

I've only been to Fantasmic once and that was in 2008 and we went to the second show. There was a wait but we still got good seats. I honestly don't know how it is to go to the first show. :confused3

I wonder if Fantasmic is the same in DL? If it has walls of water with movies projected on them and a huge boat of characters that come out at the end then it's probably the same. We loved it. It was a fantastic show! We all really want to see it again. We may just pay for MM oop since I know we can eat there for about $40. We did that back in 2008. I mean we have to eat anyway... but I could just use some CS credits. I don't really know what to do. :confused3

I think the Backlot Tour would be something that DH would probably really like. I just know we will be crunched for time and didn't want to waste it on a dud. And yes, as much as I love Disney, I do think they have some duds. I have a list of about 5 or so attractions that could fall of the Earth and it would be ok with me. :rolleyes1

Ok, two votes for the Backlot Tour! :thumbsup2 Maybe I should have posted a poll.

We have never been when there were two showings of F! Maybe they don't do that in the fall. :confused3 And there are only two showings the whole week we are there this year, so I think they are probably going to be crowded, but I really don't know. We haven't been since they cut back from nightly shows. We didn't wait that long in '08, but they had a show every single night so that made a difference.

2 more weeks!!!!

This is a summary of what I am feeling at this point....

:hyper: I'm very excited,

 but too much stuff is going through my mind and is making me

 borderline insane... yet I'm still

:hyper: very excited.

:laundy: I have many, many chores to get done, but I'm still

:hyper: very excited!

:faint: However, I'm extremely tired b/c I have so much to do, and I can't sleep b/c I'm...

:hyper: just REALLY excited!!!

:upsidedow

Stitch would lead that list for me!

Hey, Rinky, you aren't excited are you?

I am too, but I'm more stressed than excited right now, because I have tons to do and only two more days to do it - yikes! I probably shouldn't be on the DIS right now.....

Not excited at all. What are you talking about? ;)

Stitch, Country Bears, Sounds Dangerous, Tiki Room :rolleyes1

Yeah, I think you better get packing! I will be freaking out at two days and counting! :scared1: I can't believe it's that close for you! I am soooooo jealous that you and Memom only have to pack for yourselves!

YAY for 2 weeks!!!! That is so exciting!!

As far as the F! Dinner package! I found it very worthwhile to do because I was able to eat and then go get a great seat with minimal wait times!! I was right smack dab in the center and it was an awesome view!!!!

DHS is my favorite park. I love all the shows and TOT and RNRC! I do enjoy the backlot tour. Sometimes I wish that we had more time in the line. THey have all these props from Disney/ABC shows all over the place! It is really fun to pick out the props from shows you know! I think they have a lot from Home Improvement! Only thing I am not a big fan of there is Lights Motors Action. I don't care for cars really. I love the tour of artifacts from Walt's life. I am a history geek so I think it is cool to see all that stuff. It is a great day to have some Down time though.

:cheer2: 2 Weeks ! :cheer2:

If we had not changed our dates we'd be leaving in 1 week :sad1:

DHS is my 3rd favorite but probably DH's second favorite park. We decided the other day to skip AK in March so we will do an entire day at DHS instead. Well most of the day since I made an ADR for Akershus for breakfast and will spend a little am time in Epcot then head to DHS. I did just have us going there in the afternoon, with an early dinner at HBD(fantasmic pkg) then see F! for the first time ever. I think the F! pkg will be worth it since I have read of having to line up like 2 hours before for the show. 30-45mins early seems a lot better to me. I kinda wish I had booked Mama Melrose instead of HBD but DH requested HBD, I would prefer to save the credit.

We always do the backlot tour it is one of DH's favorites.

I have done TOT twice once because it was new and I had no idea how much I would not like it :scared1: and the second time because my DS and his friend that we took on the trip keep bugging me and calling me chicken. Last trip I sat it out while everyone else went on it

Rinky, if you want to ride TSM, just grab a FP as soon as you can. You might not get to ride for awhile but at least you can ride later that evening.

I would definitely do the Backlot Tour. It's fun and something different! :thumbsup2

I also have never seen Fantasmic. Shocker I know. ;) Someday maybe. I'm like your dh though, not a fan of lines. lol!

2 week dance for you my friend! :cool1:  :cool1:

Michelle - you better not be on here - GO PACK!!!

Rinky - We enjoy the Backlot Tour - I think they had it closed for a bit recently. Maybe it's better now. I think it's fun and if you're not doing too many things at DHS, you'd have time.
We did the F! package back in 2009 (?) and enjoyed Mama Melrose. We were told that the package seating was in the sections to the right as you look at the "stage". But you are free to sit anywhere if it's available. They reserve those sections for a while and as it gets to within a few minutes (Maybe 15) prior to show time they allow anyone to sit there. It's definitely not front and center seating, but it's pretty nice to not wait an hour.
I have heard that the DL show is somewhat different than the WDW show. Haven't seen it in DL though, so I don't know for sure.

I agree - just go grab FPs and if you can use them great, if you want to leave and not use them, you could spread some pixie dust!

Are you stressing much? I know you are very organized, so you'll be fine!!! I absolutely cannot wait to hear about your trip though. I want to hear your impressions of the Dream. I'll try not to wish the time go too fast for you.

Minimal wait, great seat, awesome view...well that sounds good to me! You may have just convinced me that the package is the way to go! :thumbsup2

I love the shows at DHS! And don't get me wrong, I love ALL the Disney parks. I think each one has something unique and fun to offer and wouldn't want to miss any of them. I just have my favorites and they are MK and Epcot.

Everyone seems to agree that we should do the Backlot Tour. I think we will try to get by there. It would be fun to do something new since there are so few things at Disney that we haven't tried yet.

I'm a history nerd too! I actually got my degree in history and then added on education later so I could teach. I love almost anything related to history and geography/world cultures. When you add Disney and history together, it's almost more than my heart can take! ;)

I feel sad for you that you are missing your October trip.

We love Akershus for breakfast! popcorn::

If I was doing HBD for the package, I think I would pay oop. I think you would come out better that way and it would free up two credits for two other meals. We had mixed opinions last time on MM, so I hope we like it this time. My food was great, but DH's was awful!

I'm with you on TOT. I HATE the feeling of falling. You were very brave to do it twice though.

Rinky, if you want to ride TSM, just grab a FP as soon as you can. You might not get to ride for awhile but at least you can ride later that evening.

That's the plan for TSM. I just hope they still have some FPs when we get there. I don't care what time of day we ride it. If it's the last ride of the night, that's fine with me. It's just as good in the p.m. as in the a.m.

I can't believe you haven't seen F! You really need to do that next time. We think it is a pretty awesome show. Really cool effects.

Thanks for the dance! ;)

So let me make sure I get it. If you have the dinner package, you don't get in line for F!, you just go straight into the theater, right?

FPs are the plan for TSM, but I just hope they still have some.

I'm a little stressed. I just have so many 'projects' floating around in my head, and I'm trying to get all my housework and yard work done this week so I can focus on everything else next week. Then you add in the fact that October is an end of quarter paperwork month for accounting, which means double the work, then yes.... I'm stressing a little. But I'm still VERY excited!! :rotfl:

PLEASE, PLEASE don't wish my time on vacation away! :flower3: I've waited two years for this trip and I plan to suck the absolute life out of it! In fact, I was SOOOOO excited to realize the other day that the time will be changing while we are at Disney so that means I get an extra hour of vacation!!!! :woohoo::woohoo: Sometimes, it's the little things ya know! :upsidedow Do you think one day Disney will start charging a daylight savings time surcharge for the extra hour you get? :rotfl:

Ok, don't laugh at me. I have a crazy question for you guys. I am trying to decide which cruise we want to book for next year while we are on the ship. You get a really good discount if you rebook before you disembark, so we are going to go ahead and do that. If we change our minds later, we can always cancel it.

My problem is that I am trying to decide between the 7 night Eastern or 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. I really like the looks of the Eastern Caribbean ports better (St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. John). I'm not in love with the idea of going to Mexico with all the violence they have going on right now, so I'm thinking the Eastern would be better. I just have one issue with the Eastern.... and it is a BIG issue for me. They have 'European style' beaches there. :rolleyes1 That is NOT my idea of a family vacation if you know what I mean. I'm just wondering if all the beaches allow nudity or just some of them. I can't figure it out by looking at the DCL website. If they have designated family beaches, then it's a no brainer for me, but I really want to know the answer to this before I book. If any of you know how things are over there, I would be so appreciative of any info you can give me. :flower3: I know some folks don't mind that sort of thing, but I'm not one of them. I prefer to only see exposed coconuts on the palm trees.

Oh Rinky!!!!!!!! Coconuts. :rotfl2: Not a fan here either. Ew.

I have no opinion on the cruises though as I know nothing. Good luck deciding!
