No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems: A Tremendously Tropical PTR

If any of you have eaten here before for dinner and can recommend something specific on the buffet, I'd love to hear it.

I ate there with Wigd back in May - DELISH! I loved every single bite. The potatoes were amaaaaazing.

Your FE's are fantastic! Wow!!! You went above and beyond and you put so much thought into each thing and person! The recipients will be thrilled. I love the idea of the little bottle to fill with sand/water/shells. :cloud9:

Four more Mondays for you! :goodvibes

I am impressed with your FE gifts! They are all amazing and I know that if I was participating that I would be THRILLED with all of those gifts. :goodvibes

Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that. Hopefully that means the receivers will like them too!

Wow! You went all out with your FE gifts, I think everyone will love what you did!

I have a bit of sand, a tiny shell and some ocean water from CC. One of the gifts that Anita got in their FE were tiny bottles to fill and she was kind enough to give one to me

I really didn't know how much to put into the FEs since I have never done them before. I would rather overdo it than come up short though.

That was so nice of Wigd. Why am I not surprised by her doing that? I'm glad to hear that you liked it though b/c I wasn't sure if it was gift that people would like or not.

Rinky - You have put so much thought and effort into your FE gifts! I love them all and that bath book for the lil one yr old is just perfect!

You are amazeingly crafty :)

Thank you but I really am not super crafty. If it wasn't for that thread I mentioned, I wouldn't have done much homemade stuff. There were some great ideas over there! :thumbsup2

Michelle, you are too kind. I have to say that the tiny bottle that I filled at CC was my fave FE!

Yay! I'm so glad that you guys like the bottles. I was really worried that people might not care about them.

Mine is sitting on a shelf right next my desk, so I see it everyday - makes me smile :goodvibes

Stuff like that makes me happy too. I'm very easy to please! In fact, I usually like a souvenir like that better than something bought.

Oh wow those FE gifts are amazing! I could never have even come up with the concept! If I was in your group I would be so excited to get them!

Well me either. I'm not very creative. But the folks over on that thread I mentioned are, so just steal their ideas if you ever need any!

I'm so glad to hear that everyone loves Cape May. I hope we love it too!

Thank you! I hope everyone does like their FE gift. The bottles were really fun to make and so easy. It's a very 'frugal' project as well. The bottles were only $0.99 at Micheal's. It only took one bag of sea glass and one spool of ribbon and they were only $1 each. So I made all 15 of those bottles (enough for all my adult gifts) for only $17! :woohoo: I was pretty excited about that!

Yep, 4 more Mondays. But my DD would tell you that today doesn't count b/c it has already started! She even says that at 7:00 in the morning! :rotfl:

Rinky, your FE gifts turned out fabulous! I love them all especially those goodie bags and bottles of sea glass!

Thank you! I like the bottles best myself, but I'm pretty upset that there weren't enough pirate teeth for me to have a set! :lmao:

Great ideas Rinky! I would love to receive those gifts for sure. The little glass bottles are my favorite. How wonderful to be able to bring home a little piece of Castaway Cay. :goodvibes I'm impressed!

Those kittys are so dang cute. I hope they make it.
WOW, is all I can say about the FE's. Fort someone who WASN'T going to do it, you sure did a great job. I might be calling you next year and putting in my order. I wish I was that crafty. I actually thought that once we get this next cruise booked and I know the dates, I should start picking up stuff, or trying to make something so that I can get a start on it now....and not wait last minute.

Look! They already like to lay the same. I think they are a true love match.

Big Mama is adorable, she looks very lovable.

That picture is hilarious!!!!

Love your FE gifts! I had browsed that thread over the summer...so many talented folks. I loved the idea of the sand bottles but read on there that it was illegal so I was really glad to see that you found out it is ok!! I might be doing something similar to that for my gift!

Oh my gosh Rinky - those are great gifts!! :thumbsup2 I took a lot of ideas from that thread as well! It can be so fun, but it's work. Just know that there are others who are putting a lot of time and effort into things for you too. You will love it.
If I got one of those sand bottles, it would be my favorite thing! That little poem made me tear up! I might just make one for myself for my next cruise to CC (whenever that may be!).

Well Rinky, next year when we cruise I'll be going to Michael's and doing the very same bottles. Like I said before, it was my favorite FE from the last cruise. I was a bit nervous about taking it aboard filled with sand, shells and water, but had no trouble whatsoever. I thought your poem was so sweet. We had a nice one too. I don't think they were the same though...

I wanted to share some news with you.

We got a kitty this past Sunday. Yup, you planted the idea!
We do have three dogs but we used to have a cat that got hit by a car a few years ago. It has taken Marc this long to get past the accident with our cat and be ready for a new one.
We found a little Bengal kitten that is 12 weeks old and has been around dogs. She is already bigger than our chihuahua but they are great friends!
We named her Rajah after Jasmine's tiger, but she has markings like a leopard!
Anyway, just wanted to say I'm holding you responsible!

Well thank you! Don't be too impressed though! They weren't my ideas. I just took other people's ideas and did them my own way. I knew I wanted a bottle for myself and had already decided that I would make them for my FEs, but then I saw how someone else had done them on that thread with the sea glass and thought that was neat. I'm not very creative so I have to have some help!

Those kittys are so dang cute. I hope they make it.

The kittens are doing great! They are even eating some canned food from a dish now. I think all four are going to make it which is really surprising since the mother left them so young!

I don't know what happened with me with the FEs. I guess once I committed to it, I was totally going for it! But if you plan to do the FEs again on your next cruise, you really should scan through that thread. I didn't read hardly any of it. I just scrolled through each page looking only at the pictures. When I found something I liked, I saved the picture so I could go back and look at it again later. I ended up saving about 30 or more pictures from that thread!

I'm glad it isn't illegal too. I posted pictures of my stuff over on that thread and someone told me that I shouldn't have made those b/c people are not supposed to take sand from CC. They said we need to leave it there for others to enjoy. I didn't comment back. The way I feel about it is that it's the ocean... there's no shortage of sand... and what sand and water is there belongs to everyone. You can't own the ocean. But that's just my two cents. :rolleyes1

Wow, very cool FE gifts!! There are going to be some happy people on your cruise! :thumbsup2:cool1:

Thanks! I hope they will be happy cruisers... we'll see.

I know I will love whatever I get. I am very appreciative of anything I am given, especially if it's homemade!

I really like the sand bottles. I'm so glad that everyone here seems to like them too. You should definitely make one for your next cruise! Have you ever brought back any sand from CC? If so, you could just go ahead and make one now.

Btw, where have you been hiding lately? :)

:lmao: Ok, I can handle that. I love being responsible for convincing someone to adopt a pet. I am a big time animal lover, so that news makes me very happy!

I have always had cats and dogs together and never once had a problem. In fact, our cats clean our chihuahua! And I mean they clean her good! She just sits there and lets them lick her ears, head, and back and she looks like it is the best thing in the world. The cats wouldn't let her get up anyway though. They slap her in the head if she tries to move! :rotfl: They really do love each other though and even curl up in the chair and nap together sometimes.

I would LOVE to see a picture of your new kitten. She sounds beautiful and I love the name! I know how hard it is to get a new pet after you lose one. They become like family so it is really hard to move on when they are gone. I'm glad you guys are ready for a new fur baby. :cutie:

I'll try to take a decent picture of the kitty when she gets home from the vet. I left her there this afternoon for her spaying, front claw removal, and micro-chipping. She will be ready to come home tomorrow when I finish my school day. I have a feeling she isn't going to be very happy with me.:sad2:

Just picturing this made me laugh. My cat despises Jill's dog, Ben. Ben wants to play with the cat so badly, but the cat wants nothing to do with Ben. If Ben gets too close, the cat brings up this demonic sound from the depths of his soul and his eyes get huge. Ben doesn't mess with that.
Poor Ben. He doesn't understand why Kitty won't play.

No, I did not bring any sand back. :( I guess I'll have to go there again! Oh Darn! ;)

I've been so busy working and running around, that I've let my DIS time dwindle. I think things are easing up now and I'm at least finding time to read the PTR/TRs that I've subbed. (there's a zillion!). But I don't always take time to comment. I've definitely neglected my own TR and hope to remedy that soon! I'm almost to the end! The kids are off school tomorrow and I'm taking the day off to do something with them - maybe a movie...I hope to take some time to do my next update!

Rinky - just dropping in to say Hi  I agree with you about the beach sand. Glad to hear the kitties are doing so well :)

 Probably not, but it's for her own good! I'd love to see a picture of her if you have time.

I know all about that low demonic growl. That sound makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I don't blame the dog for not going down that road! :rotfl:

I can totally relate. I can't seem to find any time to get my next update done. Fall is a really busy time. I hope things settle down for both if us soon! I'm ready for another update on your TR, but not ready for it to be over.

Yep... another trip is in order for the sake of sand collecting! ;)

Rinky - just dropping in to say Hi  I agree with you about the beach sand. Glad to hear the kitties are doing so well :)

Hi Sheila!!! I thought that was sort of a silly comment on the sand, but to each his own. I wonder if they know that the ocean covers 70% of the Earth's surface, thus making sand one of the most common materials on the planet??? :rotfl:

Here's our Rajah all bandaged up and shaved from her surgery.

DSCN3812.jpg

I'll be happy when Saturday gets here and the boxing gloves can come off, she is miserable! I thought it was interesting that our vet thought she was a cross between a domestic cat and a Ocelot. Nope that's not it. She's a cross between a domestic and an Asian Leopard Cat.

I just have to comment about leaving sand at CC for others enjoyment. Give me a break. Like more won't wash up? It is the ocean....

Poor Rajah! I bet he is miserable. :( Just one more day for him, though.

Take some sand -- it's not like you are going to take home a sand bucket full!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! She is gorgeous! I love her markings! She really looks just like a mini version of a leopard. How big will she get?

I know those bandages are driving her nuts. I've never seen it done that way. I've had 2 cats declawed before and they never even had bandages. I guess it's because her feet are bigger????

Totally with you on the sand. It's funny though because I knew when I posted the pictures on that thread that someone would have to come up with something negative like that. There's always one, ya know. I guess that's why I only hang around the TR boards. Everyone here is so nice, but other places on the DIS can get nasty real fast. I don't get it. My philosophy has always been that I would never say anything to anyone on the internet that I wouldn't say standing face to face with them.

Poor Rajah! I bet he is miserable. :( Just one more day for him, though.

My thoughts exactly. Our bottle might hold 2 ounces of sand.
