No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems: A Tremendously Tropical PTR

For F! with the package, they had a separate line off to the side, so you do still go up the big ramp, but they separate you out.

I'd go Eastern. I have done the Western, not with DCL, but the ports were Grand Cayman, Roatan Honduras, Cozumel and Belize City. It was pretty nice, and cozumel was fine (best place to go in Mexico if you go anywhere).
But I've got friends who LOVE Eastern ports. There are family beaches too, so I don't think you will run into that problem everywhere. But I do agree with you - no exposed coconuts! Especially with young children.
ETA - did you see the new water play area info on the Fantasy?? That looks like fun!

I promise - I'm not wishing your trip goes by fast!!! I will wait patiently for your return.popcorn::

LOL...I'm glad my students were at lunch when I read that line LOL!!! Awesome!!!

I'm glad Sheree was of more help than I am going to be because I have no clue at all!! Although those Eastern ports sound awesome, but yes on a family cruise I think I'd skip coconuts too LOL!

I am laughing away over your coconuts comment!!! :lmao: I would steer clear of anything in Mexico right now. The violence really is scary. I am sure there must be family beaches on the eastern cruise -- I can't see Disney going there otherwise.

I personally think you should book Nov 4, 2012 sailing on the Dream! :rolleyes1

I have read TR about the Eastern and I think you actually have to drive a ways to get to the topless beaches. There are family beaches closer to the ships.

Rinky - You so made my day when you asked " Do you think one day Disney will start charging a daylight savings time surcharge for the extra hour you get? "

If they could find a way I am positive they would :lmao:

No idea about your cruise and the beaches as I have never been but I doubt Disney would stop unless it was a "family" beach with as many children there are aboard. JMHO

Hi Rinky!
Popping in to let you know that I am still doing my best to read along! Just don't have much time these days. Now I am 7 days away from leaving myself and I have so much to do it is insane...:scared1:

Two things I did want to comment on:
Fantasmic-I am not sure why this is but we have NEVER waited in line to see the show.:confused3 We have gotten there from 90 minutes before to 30 minutes before and just walked in and got seats. Of course, our seats at 90 minutes were better than 30 minutes but even those weren't what I would call bad seats. When we left last summer there were people waiting in line but that was for the 2nd show. Maybe there is a line for the first show and they let you in at 90 minutes or something and that's why we missed it?? I really don't know but we had spectacular seats that year-middle of Mickey section-loved those seats!

cruise itinerary-we have done a western cruise (nonDisney) and really loved it. Of course, there wasn't all that stuff going on in Mexico (we went to Cozumel). I really can't imagine Disney would go to ports where the coconuts weren't the ones on the trees!

Oh Rinky!!!!!!!! Coconuts. :rotfl2: Not a fan here either. Ew.

I have no opinion on the cruises though as I know nothing. Good luck deciding!

Ew is right! Some things are just meant to stay a secret. ;)

Best. Line. EVER. :rotfl2::rotfl:

I have no idea honestly but I'm with you, not my idea of a good time at all!

Now didn't I tell ya'll not to laugh at me!

I have always called them coconuts. :lmao: Seriously. It sounds better than other names for them.

Honestly though, I am even more concerned about things other than coconuts being exposed. :scared1: I recently read a TR about the Eastern Car. cruise and her family saw a naked old man. I am so not kidding!! That's WAY beyond coconuts right there!

For F! with the package, they had a separate line off to the side, so you do still go up the big ramp, but they separate you out.

I'd go Eastern. I have done the Western, not with DCL, but the ports were Grand Cayman, Roatan Honduras, Cozumel and Belize City. It was pretty nice, and cozumel was fine (best place to go in Mexico if you go anywhere).

Thanks for the info on F! We would have probably been standing in that line like a bunch of nuts if you hadn't told me that!

I think two of the ports on the Western cruise are in Mexico so that kinda killed it for me. I'd love to go to those places, but not right now. I don't want to worry about violence on vacation. Sort of ruins the mood!

I ended up calling DCL and asking about the beaches. They said that only the French side of St. Maarten would have nudity. What's confusing is that almost all of the excursions have a warning about seeing nudity so I couldn't tell what that meant. I guess they are just covering their bases in case you are sailing by heading to your excursion and see someone on one of the beaches?? :confused3 Anyway, I think if we stick to the Dutch side, we'll be fine. And everyone has said to make sure we stay far away from Orient Bay.

I did see the water area on the Fantasy! I think it will be awesome! I've read they are going to have a BBB & Pirate's League onboard also. :cutie:

LOL...I'm glad my students were at lunch when I read that line LOL!!! Awesome!!!

I'm glad Sheree was of more help than I am going to be because I have no clue at all!! Although those Eastern ports sound awesome, but yes on a family cruise I think I'd skip coconuts too LOL!

Yes, I'm sure this topic was get nothing but snickers and giggles out of your students!

I think I have found my answer though. It looks like only the French side of St. Maarten is where the flashers roam!

I am laughing away over your coconuts comment!!! :lmao: I would steer clear of anything in Mexico right now. The violence really is scary. I am sure there must be family beaches on the eastern cruise -- I can't see Disney going there otherwise.

Yeah, I can't see getting mixed up in that mess in Mexico right now. It used to be that the criminals left the resort areas alone, but I'm hearing more and more about that not being the case as much now.

I found out that St. Thomas and St. John (US Virgin Islands) have "normal" beaches. St. Maarten is half French and half Dutch and the French side likes to live on the wild side. We'll be going Dutch all the way! :rotfl:

I personally think you should book Nov 4, 2012 sailing on the Dream! :rolleyes1

I have read TR about the Eastern and I think you actually have to drive a ways to get to the topless beaches. There are family beaches closer to the ships.

I would love to book November 4th on the Dream! DD always has a fall break at the end of October though so it helps her not to miss as much school.

I called DCL and it sounds like only the French side of St. Maarten allows nudity, so we'll just stay on the Dutch side of the island, and all should be well.

JMHO

I was only joking about the DST surcharge, but ya know nothing would surprise me!

I found out that they do have some 'normal' beaches. It was confusing though because all the excursions had a nudity warning on the DCL website. Not sure what that was about? :confused3

Hi Rinky!
Popping in to let you know that I am still doing my best to read along! Just don't have much time these days. Now I am 7 days away from leaving myself and I have so much to do it is insane...:scared1:

7 days! :scared1: You better get packing lady! I'm already getting in a tizzy. I need to just calm down and start making lists.

I sure hate that our trips aren't overlapping a little. :sad2:

Wow you must have gotten lucky on F! There has been an enormous line every time we have been at HS.

Well, I can assure you that DCL does go to where the coconuts sway freely in the breeze! :rotfl2: They have nudity warnings on all the excursions for that sailing. That was what confused me. It made it sound like there would be naked people walking around everywhere we went! :rotfl: That's why I knew I had to figure out exactly what it was like. Turns out it is just half of St. Maarten (the French side) that is like that. The rest of the ports sound like 'normal' American beaches.

I've got a full day of work today, so no time for an update right now. Sorry! I wonder am I even going to finish this PTR! I am way too type A not to! It would drive me nuts!!! :scared1: I've got two days of our Disney trip left to write about and then I am done with that. But I also have to show you the outfits that my mom and I have made for DD, and my Castaway Cay patio is FINALLY done!! :worship: It has been a VERY long project! Anyway, I need to take pictures of all that, so there's still lots of stuff to do here, and guess what......... I ONLY HAVE 9 DAYS LEFT TO DO IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, it's been two years since we've been to Disney, and I've still been reading everyone's TRs. I know all about that major jealousy! You've got a trip right around the corner though. Trust me, it will be here before you know it!

Single digit dance for you my friend! :dance3: You better get crackin' on the updates, you don't have much time left. Soon you will be in WDW!!! Yay!

I did! I did! TWO updates coming up! Yeah you read that right!

There's a bunch of us still reading!!

And single digit dancing!

:cool1:
:woohoo:
:yay:
:cheer2:

I know I can always count on you Sheree! I have got to get over to your TR and see if you have an update. I don't want to get behind.

Ok, I’m cheating here. Since I am running behind, you’re getting two updates in one! I finished up my work sooner than I expected, so I figured I better get on this PTR!

We’ll start with day six which will be our second and final Epcot day. Thanks to Shelly, I have an ADR at Kona for 9:00. She has raved and raved about the breakfast there, and she has convinced me to give it a try. This is an “extra” ADR for us though. I’m not sure we will actually go. I hope we will have the time, but we’ll have to wait and see how things are moving along. I really hope we are able to make it there, because I have heard such wonderful things about the food, specifically the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes and the Tonga Toast! popcorn::

The plan is to spend this day at Epcot (Future World). If you remember, eons ago I told you that we would be going to the F&W festival on our first Epcot day. So the plan is to just stick to Future World since this is a Friday and things are pretty crazy at the F&WF on the weekends.

We are going to focus on just doing our favorites; Soarin’, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, LWTL, & Turtle Talk. Anything else is just a bonus.

I figured since we have such a short list of favorites in FW that we might actually have time for Kona that morning. But who knows, we might want to spend more time in the CBR pool or something like that. We’re just going to play it by ear. :listen: This is where my flexible rubber band plans come in. Two flexible days out of 11… I’m making progress! :lmao:

And after much back and forth, I finally decided that we will be going to California Grill for dinner this night. We have a 7:25 ressie with Wishes showing at 8:00!!! I am really excited about this. I am certain that those fireworks are going to be awesome from the top of the Contemporary Resort! I really think I am more excited about the fireworks than the meal! But I am sure the meal will be great too. So many people have raved about the steak and the pork tenderloin that I know they must be good.

And that’s it for day 6!

Read on in next post for Day 7…

Day seven is last but not least. We’re heading to Animal Kingdom for our last day of the trip. I really don’t even want to think about the last day! :sad2:

This should be another go with the flow day though. I want to get to the park as early as possible, although after 10 days of go, go, go, that might be wishful thinking. Since we only have one day at AK though, I want to try to make the most of it.

Again, the goal is just to hit our favorites… EE, KRR, K. Safaris, the trails, and if we have time… ITTBAB and the Nemo musical. Although we love it, we will probably skip The Lion King b/c we have seen it the last two times.

We will NOT be riding this… :scared1:

:rotfl:

I have always wanted to see AK at night. I’ve seen pictures and it just looks so cool! However, they never have evening EMHs when we are there. So to try to get a little glimpse of the park all lit up, I decided to make a 5:00 ressie for Yak & Yeti. :chewy: I figured by the time our dinner is over, it will be completely dark and maybe I can see a little bit of the park on the way out. I’m wondering if this is a good use of a dining credit though. It seems to get pretty good reviews, but I’m still not sure. Have any of you eaten there? What did you like or dislike? I have no idea what to order either as the food is a little bit…....... exotic! :rolleyes1

I’d love to go to DTD after we leave AK. That’s what we usually do that night since they always close AK early, but I’m sure I’ll have to get back to CBR and get packed up!!! :faint: What a bummer! We will be hitting the road first thing the next morning so I’ll bet there’s no DTD for me this trip. We’ll see though!

Well, that’s all folks! Months and months of planning are done, and now it is almost time to go! I can hardly believe it!

Up next: Homemade Disney fun, and a 4 month long patio makeover!
