OK, I think that title is mostly for what I need, so appy it to yourself only if needed. ;)

Welcome to fall, Warriors!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Smaller Support teams for the WISH racing team - please go to the thread to be placed on a team. We do this to keep the numbers to a manageable state and to spead out to all the smaller teams to try to keep it equal.

***Forgive my absence, still trying to catch up from my cruise!

Hi there Warriors!

I haven't been posting much - my 3 month old DS has been keeping me really busy! - but I wanted to quickly stop in and say hi!

I started training for the half marathon a couple weeks ago, and I'm excited to see that my pace is pretty close to what it was a year ago when I was training for the Goofy before getting pregnant! I've been doing a lot of hill work (not a lot of choice when we live in a river valley!) and I think it's really been helping with my endurance and strength. My longest run so far was 5 miles but it went really well so I'm looking forward to the rest of the training.

Hope everyone's training is going great! Callum and I will be at the WISH meet in January, and I look forward to catching up with people then! :goodvibes

HAPPY November Warriors!!

Still plugging along trying to prepare for Goofy 2011. I still have a very long way to go. Hopefully I will get there!!

Sunday I did 11.25 miles using a run 1 mile/walk a minute strategy. My left hip really became painful about the 10 mile point. Not sure what the issue is. Hopefully it's just a lack of LR's recently.

Today I did 11.75 using a run 4 minutes/walk 1 minute plan. I'm not sure if it was any better, but my hip did not bother me AS BAD, but was still becoming an issue. Not sure how this is going to stretch out for 40 miles over 2 days, but we'll hope for the best!

My pace was the same both days (about 10:13/mile). Slower than I would like for a 1/2, but great for a full.

Gotta' work on hydrating & fueling. The next experiment is to do the 4/1 & make sure I bring (or hide) lots of fluids & fuel for my next LR. I'm going to "overfuel" (for lack of a better term) to see what happens. I think I am still getting my fuel tank near empty on LR's, so we'll see what happens there!

Life is short!! Have a ball!! You guys all rock!!

Sarah! Great to hear from you! Hoping to see you and the guys at the January meet wherever that will be.

Jim, I do hope you can get you figured out over the next weeks to make your Goofy journey an easy one.

Carrie, glad you got us started this month and hope your training is on target.

Warriors, hope you are all moving forward. Keep it going.

Anyone from our team doing the virtual Turkey Trot? I'min since i'llbe putting in training steps anyway.

lily I didn't even realise the turkey trot was happening this year- but I guess I'll be on the look out now!

Jim i think it's great that you experiment so much to find what suits, it can be too easy to stick with something that's not right out of familiarity. Good luck with overfuelling!

sarah brilliant to see you, although I have to admit to a little bit of friendly stalkerness over on facebook occasionally :) Cant' believe Callum is 3 months! Equally staggering impressed that your almost back at pace. Good work.

me so I have a conundrum. As you know my shins have been really bad recently.... starting to impact bone but pretty sure not a stress fracture. I have JUST been offered a place in London Marathon next year! So it's April 17th which is a way off yet- but I haven't done any running really since the half 3 weeks ago. Am i ridiculous to be accepting this place? It's for charity so I have to raise a lot of money and need to be fit to run the thing! Oh my word, decisions decisions.

Good morning Warriors,

Wow November is here. Where did October go???? :cool1:

I am deep into my training for Goofy. Longest long run so far has been 15 miles this past Saturday. This week is a step back week, only running 23 miles. Lat week I surpassed my runnning a 1,000 miles goal for the year.

Good luck to everyone training for any upcoming races. Marathon weekend is only 2 months away, hard to believe isn't it.

Stan

Look at me, posting twice in one week! :cool1: Callum went through an awful growth spurt week (for those who haven't done the kid thing, growth spurts are normally accompanied by crying, not sleeping for days on end, and eating every hour) last week, but somehow came out of it with the ability to go to sleep by himself in his crib at a decent time. :worship:

Stan: Congrats on 1000 miles!!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Kate: :woohoo: for the London Marathon!!! I'm so jealous! :woohoo: Hope those shin splints cooperate with you and your training.

Lily: I'm in for the Turkey Trot. That is a step-down week for me so I'm scheduled for 6 miles, anyway. :thumbsup2

Jim: Good luck on the overfueling. I find it's so hard to carry enough water/Poweraid/Gu on long runs while marathon training. It doesn't help that Seattle turns off all their water fountains this time of year, and that I run with a 90 lb dog who drinks more than I do. Trying to carry enough water for both of us on a 20 mile run is really tough!

I traded in my run today for some time in the pool with Callum. No serious laps, but about 45 minutes of eggbeatering back and forth across the shallow pool while holding Callum up in a front float. It didn't feel like work while I was doing it, but my legs are really feeling it now! :rotfl:

We bought a treadmill that is compatible with iFit a few weeks ago. It allows you to map out a route in Google Maps and then virtually run the route - it alters the incline and speed according to where you are on the route. It's keeping me pretty amused for now; I can't believe I'm enjoying my treadmill!

Good Morning Warriors!

Sarah- enjoy the "going to bed by himself" I agree it's a great blessing!
Stan- congratulations on the 1000 miles
Lily- I'm in for the Turkey Trot as I'm doing a local Thanksgiving morning anyway (killing 2 races with one run)
Those of you doing Marathon weekend this year I'm a bit sad since I'll be missing it. First time since I started running I won't be there. (I'll be on my way to the Panama Canal on the Wonder) so I've inserted the Princess to get my Disney running fix.

I was hit with a light case of food poisoning early this week which seemed to zap my strenght - I have a 5 miler on tap for tomorrow- I hope I can finish on my normal intervals if not I'll just finish slower!

Have a great weekend- Good Luck to everyone running this weekend- stay safe!

Hello Warriors!!! Hey Sarah!!

I am deep into my Spacecoast Half Training with my long miles coming this weekend. Weather is going to be nice here in South Florida with temps being tolerable Highs in the mid-low 70s and lows in the 50s,

Seems like everyone is doing great and I am in for this year's WISH Virtual Turkey Trot!

I just wanted to mention a deadline for WISH racing team Hats and Visors.
I need the minimum numbers to place the order so people can have their Headweats before the January Races. If you are on the edge about getting one, now is the time - another order won't be done for another year.
Go to the thread, read the first post and go to the order form to place your order.

Thanks!

Hi everyone. It sure sounds like everone coming along nicely.

I officially signed up for "The Flying Feather" 4 miler on Thanksgiving morning. My Brother-in-Law has also signed up for his first race. He's doing C25K and finished the 2 mile run yesterday. Right now, He's thinking about walking the first 1/2 mile running the next 3 then playing it by ear. I'm not going to try any solid running but I'm trying to change up my walk/run ratio for a shorter distance. Today I did a 5k-4mile time trial/virtual race for a different message board. I did 5K in 40:34 including about 20sec to retie my shoe. A new unofficial PR. And finished up the 4 miles is 53:07. I was hoping for 53:00 on Thanksgiving. I may need to reevaluate my goal.

Happy November 8th!!

Ya'll seem to be doing great!! keep up the work!!

Not much to report from down here. It's finally somewhat cooler, which makes the LR's a bit more tolerable/

I did a total of 14.8 miles today. My biggest issue today is hip & hamstring tightness, esp. hamstrings. Guess I gotta' toss stretching in with EVERYTHING ELSE I HAVE TO DO!! Ugh. Not enough hours in the day. Did the entire thing at about 10:10 pace. If I can do that as a 2 day average on the Goofy I will be quite happy.

See ya next time!

Great job Warriors! I have been so busy I don't have much time for relaxing. I have been getting steps and such, just not quite the way I'd like. You are all an inspiration.

Kate! I missed reading about the marathon. Can you do some pol training while those shins heal? Hope so.

I got in an hour and hoped for 5 miles, it just didn't quite make it. Oh well. I did decent.

Tracy thanks for the link.

Good Morning Warriors,

I love the feeling of being back in a regular running routine. My training is a different now for the Princess (I'm trying to get most of my long miles in before Christmas- do a "holding pattern" while on the cruise then doing the end of the training when I get back!

Hi all

Pam - Good to hear everything is getting back to normals.

Lily - Sounds like you got at least close to what you wanted to do.

Tracy - Hope taper can get you to 100% before the Space Coast.

Jim - Sounds like your making progress.

AFM - I'm continuing my current shakeup of walk/run intervals to keep my body guessing and see if I can improve my speed before starting my next round of 1/2 marathon training.

Monday- did 8 repeats of walk .23 miles/Run .27 Miles shifting another .01 miles from walking to running.

Wednesday - Really change up my walk/run interval with 30 sec. walk/30 sec. run. Not sure I would like to race it but was interesting as a training exercise. It did improve my overall speed but seemed to wear me out more.

Today - Did a longer day of 6.4 miles. After warmup I run 1:15/walked 1:40 for a while, then took several walk breaks together before running an entire mile straight. A new continuous running record. I kept it slow. Finishing that mile in 13:30. I took another extended walk break after before starting to walk/run again.

Hi Warriors! Is it Marathon Weekend, yet? I don't think I was even this excited for my first Disney half marathon! :lmao: I am so excited for my baby's first trip, AKL Kidani, getting to vacation with my parents and brother (I only get to see them once or twice a year, normally!), running (walking?) the 5K with my parents and Callum, and of course another WDW half marathon! I just want to start packing already! :rotfl2: Did I mention I'm normally a "2 hours before we leave for the airport" packer?

Jeremy: Good job on the interval training.

Tracy: You need to tell those legs who's boss before Spacecoast! :rotfl: Also, have I told you lately that I love you? Thanks for getting everyone started on organizing the WISH stuff for MW!

Lily: After finishing 5 Goofy's, do you even have to train anymore? Can't you just tell Goofy that it's going down, and then it bows down before you? :worship:

As for me.... the miles are getting done. I've finally gotten back to running continuously without the walk breaks... but I might continue doing a run 4/walk 1 for my long runs. I think I'm getting more speed with less hurt that way. I'm still having arch issues in my left foot, which is a souvenir from my 8 months pregnant half marathon. :confused3 I'm not really sure how to deal with it, but it's not going away so it's probably time for me to consult a doctor. Possibly orthopedic insoles? :confused3

I'm super-excited to run the Girls on the Run practice 5K as a running buddy on Tuesday. I'm not coaching this year (having a small baby and no one to watch him during the day makes it impossible) but I am volunteering to be a running buddy for one of the girls for the practice 5K and the real 5K in December. By coincidence, I got paired with (shhhhh, don't tell that Coach Sarah has favorites!) one of my favorite girls (a super bouncy 4th grader that I gave the "Wild Child" award to last spring!) that I coached last year, who is redoing the program again this year. It should be an absolute blast and I'm really looking forward to Tuesday!

And now... is it marathon weekend, yet!!!!??? :dance3:

Sarah you are hilarious! I can't wait to see how excited you're going to get :D Fab work getting your miles in too, you're such an inspiration. I'm always chatting about you at work to my pregnant friends (everyone seems to be hatching at the moment!)

Jeremy I love the idea of shaking up your training, hope your body doesn't know what's hit it!

Pam great news that you're back into routine and enjoying it.

Lily hey if you almost made it then that's very much good enough! Well done. No pool work for me, my shin hates swimming! Thanks though :)

Tracy Eek tell your leg to behave!!!! I hope it feels better soon.

me been hitting the gym, managed 30 min on the treadmill. Still taped, still rumbling so will head to a new physio just to make sure I can nail this. I feel like I'm being bad doing that but I've seen the same one for 2 years with no real grip on the problem. Really settled into my essay today so that was great, i think a good workout this morning was helpful.

Hi Warriors,

Finally got around to posting. I have not walked recently:guilty: since I got a good cold at a family wedding 2 weeks. ago. Got out today and only did a short 3 miler. The pace was somewhat slow, but we did it. We will get out a few more times this week because we have the space coast half next week. I already did a half during our normal walks so I know I can do it. The cold is what bothers me. I was hoping to do a good time but now I just want to finish.

Hope everyone else is doing well and staying healthy

Kathy

One week to go before Space Coast half marathon. :cool1:

We did a 6.5 mile:banana: walk and it felt good. The cold is almost gone but I could feel tightness in my chest. I should be fine for next week. It looks like it might rain:eek:, so I guess I better figure out what to do in case. We just got leg and arm warmers so I am ready for the cold.

Hope everyone is doing fine and have a great Thanksgiving.

Kathy
