I had to call after reading everything on the boards...yes, sure enough, our room is affected. No big. We stayed at AKL in March, loved it, wanted to go back, booked a standard room for affordability. We were offered the SSR deal, which I don't even know what it would have been, because I don't care, I own a time share and Disney is not a condo vacation for me, so that said, now we are choosing between:

1. Wilderness Lodge
2. Boardwalk Inn
3. Beach Club
4. Yacht Club.

Knowledge and opinions welcomed. We are DW, DH, and DS6. Want a great pool area and other than that...

TIA!

I'd go for Beach or Yacht Club. The pool area is amazing and you can't beat the location:thumbsup2 . Wilderness Lodge is wonderful but it's out of the way and requires getting on some form of transportation to go anywhere.

Beach club has Storm-a-long Bay which is supposed to be the best themed pool at WDW. That's about all the advice I can offer. Other than that check out www.allears.net to see pictures and info on the different resorts.

Hope you have a great trip. :):woohoo: :yay:

I'm so glad to hear that you have so many choices. I was only given SSR or BC. If they would have offered WL, I would have taken that. It seems comparable to AKL. I have stayed at BC last summer and it was wonderful, especially being able to walk to Epcot. My vote would be for WL or BC, whatever you chose you will love it!:cool1:

I am also reading that quite a few people are being bumped to GF, if you want that, go online to disneys website to see if it is available for your dates and then call to get switch, that way if they say well it is unavailable, you can say that is not true, that you checked online and it is available. Like I said earlier, you will love any of the deluxe resorts! Have a great time:banana:

Wilderness...

I love the Wilderness L., but if it was me I would try one of the Epcot resorts. I have always wanted to stay over there. The transportation from WL was great, just a boat ride to MK. You could also take the bus.

I'd pick the WL but only because I like being close to MK, the other all very nice resorts too. It would come down to themeing and which park you want to be close too.

I've stayed WL and BC and I like WL better, but of course people will post that BC/YC has the better pool area. To substitute for the AKL, tho, it's WL for me!

I'd vote for Yacht Club, it's the most upscale with a GREAT pool. Beach Club is nice (same pool) but Yacht Club rooms are better IMO.

Since you mentioned "great pool area", I'd go for Beach Club (closest to EPCOT) or Yacht Club. Stormalong Bay is wonderful.

if you are going to spend most of your time at MK and want a very nice quick service place to eat then WL.

If you are going to spend more time at Epcot or MGM, quick service is not important as YC/BC and BW do not have a good one, or one at all, but want a good pool then pick the Epcot resorts.

My vote would be Wilderness Lodge. I have stayed at WL, BC, and AKL. Out of the three, WL is my favorite. I don't know why, but it seems the most magical and disney to me. With a 6yr old I don't think being walking distance to Epcot is that big of a deal.

That being said, you will be happy with any of them.

Have fun!

I'd probably say the Beach Club...I hear its fantastic...although I don't think you can go wrong with any of those choices! And from what I'm told, SSR it worth it too..its not your every day condo.

Cheers,
Josh

Thanks everyone! We love the look of SAB!! We decided to go with Beach Club. We are excited to stay over in the Epcot area and check it out. We decided that if we were to stay by MK, we would really want to stay at the Poly, that and WL is the same price as AKL, so we are going to take advantage of the free upgrade on this trip. Appreciate your input. Now I need to get to know BC:goodvibes

When you called to check did you call AKL direct or did you call CRO??? I have 3 nights booked at AKL for August 23, 24, 25 and the last 3 nights at GF. What were your dates??? Thanks-

I vote for the Wilderness! We stayed there in 2004, and thoroughly enjoyed our room and the resort. :)

Stormalong Bay is a great pool area, but, very difficult to watch a 6 year old since it is soooooo big and spread out. My grandson is also 6 and we're steering clear of YC/BC until he's a little older for this specific reason. He does love VWL........the pool isn't huge and does have a slide and he's been perfectly happy with that......he also loved the OKW slide when we were there in May. Haven't been to BWV since he was younger, but, he liked that pool also. I wouldn't totally discount SSR either...........the new Grandstand area pool is very kid friendly with lots of splash areas and I hear they also have Disney movies poolside in the evening on an inflatable screen. I think you would be pleasantly surprised at SSR.......not your typical timeshare accomodations at all.

I called 407-939-7675 first (Disney travel, I think, I made my ressie online), but was transfered to 407-939-7919, because that is the dept that handles this issue. Dates are 8/19 to 8/25. We had std view booked. We were offered std view at the resorts I mentioned. I asked if it would be at all possible to stay at the Poly, because it doesn't hurt to ask, and was told that because of my view, they couldn't unless nothing else was available, because it has to be a lateral move. Garden view is not the equivalent of standard view, it is a step up, and garden view is the least available at Poly. I was told that I would have been called eventually. They are calling in order of check in date, prioritized by view. I think there are notes on the ressies that need to called because they will be affected.

Thanks for the heads up on size of SAB. It's one of the reasons we picked BC. We swim with DS6 and he doesn't like to swim without us, so we should have a lot of fun exploring everything together.

We were not offered any other DVC besides SSR. I would expect the timeshares at WDW to be a step above the typical. I just also didn't care for the location of SSR. I want to be close to a theme park, DTD has very little interest for us right now. Maybe in the future.
