No more St. Maarten???

I love the beaches on St. Maarten! They are the best, great surf and sand, beautiful blue water. The shopping is also the cheapest of any island I been too. And the weather is always the same in St. Maarten 80 to 85 degrees and a nice breeze. Puerto Rico is pretty but it is so hot and muggy. I vote for St. Maarten!

I second that, I was actually bothered less on the St maarten beach then on the St thomas beach, a lot less. We didnt go to Orient beach though, so maybe the hawkers were more aggressive there. Liked the airconditioned nice vans for taxis too, instead of the open air cattle car!

Last year I bought a bottle of Guavaberry rum (still did not open), where do I get the recipe for a guavaberry colada? Now you made me thirsty! I know this is off subject, please forgive me.

From guavaberry.com:

Put ice in blender, add 2oz Sint Maarten Guavaberry liqueur, 1oz Cream of Coconut, 3oz pineapple pieces or juice. Blend well. Garnish with pineapple, toasted coconut & fresh nutmeg.

Beforehand set up the kiddie pool in the back yard and after you have made said drink go out and sit in the pool and close your eyes and enjoy your drink and dream of the caribbean!

I wonder how the shopping is in San Juan. The shopping is soooo much better in St. Maarten than St. Thomas, it'd be a shame to have to lose that. As far as safety, I've never seen pickpockets in St. Maarten, although I'm sure they have some, too. We saw two last Dec in St. Thomas. We even managed to stop one from occurring, thanks to my quick thinking husband. Also, later that day, we were followed back to the ship as we walked from town along the water. It was very unnerving for me. I felt much safer in St. Maarten than there.

I hope they wait for the 2006 cruises or cruise itenaries they have not posted. One reason I signed up for this cruise is because I wanted to go to St. Maarten! Grr... Dont have much interest in Puerto Rico.

Dagnabit!

BearFan, I just returned from Puerto Rico and the shopping is just like in the states. I could not find any deals on jewelry or anything. I was surprised and disappointed!
